Mission Accomplished! Sisters in Wimbledon Final
Serena Williams has defeated Zheng Jie in straigh sets, 6-2, 7-6 (7-5). There were a few rain delays and Jie was up 4-2 in the 2nd set but Serena was able to come good and serve as if her life depended on it. Serena served 14 aces in the match. Make no mistake, Zheng Jie put up some awesome resistence (had some nice winners of her own, moving Serena around) in the 2nd set but when she broke

War News: The Idiots Of Mission Accomplished
~Snooper~Once again, the Leftinistra are grasping at straws and, we that know better must answer this blatant and purposeful stupidity. I have already written of this at A Newt One and I have also written on this subject twice before I merged with A Newt One.What the Leftinistra and all the rest that "whine" about the statement of Mission Accomplished, have either not read the Mission Accomplished Speech or have read it and choose to ignore it. No where within the speech was it ever declared that the GWOT was over. Quite to the contrary of the uneducated twits and sycophants of the Anti-Americanist socialist democrats and the demagogues on the left, not one place in the text of the speech can it be found that President Bush declared the war to be "over". No where. Below are selected e

Mission Accomplished?Five years ago, 139 American troops had died in Iraq. Now that number is 4,064. Five years ago, 542 American troops had been wounded in Iraq. Now that number is 29,395.So what did the the almost 4,000 U.S. soldiers die for if the mission was already accomplished? What about the 29,000 wounded since then? What about the tens, if not hundreds, of thousands of Iraqis who have died or been wounded? Mission accomplished, eh?

      Five-Year Anniversary of 'Mission Accomplished'
Five years after President Bush donned a flight suit and landed a Navy jet on the USS Abraham Lincoln to deliver a speech beneath a banner proclaiming "Mission Accomplished," the White House admits that Bush has paid a price for it.On May 1, 2003, Bush said, "Major combat operations in Iraq have ended. The battle of Iraq is one victory in a war on terror that began on Sept. 11, 2001, and still goes on." The administration shifted through several excuses over the years. Finally, the official explanation for the "Mission Accomplished" banner is that it was commemorating the end of the 10-month tour of duty of the carrier and did not refer to the war in Iraq. Now in its sixth year, 4,061 U.S. troops have died. Source: apnews.myway.com

In my post "Follow The Financial Whiz: The Countdown Begins Going from College to Career," I set a goal to obtain a job offer by my graduation date of December 16, 2007. I am proud to say that I have achieved that goal. I was offered positions with two very respectable firms, and both opportunities would have allowed me to continue dealing with investments. I have decided to join the Pennsylvania State Employees' Retirement System as a Junior Investment Analyst specializing in private equity and venture capital investments. I feel that this position will allow me to continue to expand my knowledge into some of the most fascinating areas of investing. The position has me moving to the Harrisburg, PA area where I will be looking to continue to grow as an individual and as a professional. The job opportunity was the direct result of the successful 8-month internship that I completed with the retirement system back in 2006. I felt that this opportunity would provide me with a wo

      Mission Accomplished - for now
Well mission 2 for this Christmas season has been accomplished - the Christmas tree and associated decorations have been assembled. We started last night with chief toddler Little Miss overseeing the project before quickly recognising that this was possible a bad idea. It turns out that toddlers, while naturally bossy, make for very bad bosses. So the tree project was quickly abandoned once the tree was assembled and the first set of flashing lights had been set up. This was more than enough to satisfy a quickly tiring and increasingly bored toddler. So there it sat, a half completed Christmas tree, like some bad sculpture sitting there as some bad social commentary on the commercialisation of the western world and religion in general. After everyone went to bed it was left to me to finish putting up all the decorations - the tree, the flashing lights, the flashing santa for the window, the various hanging ornaments for around the place. It took until 1:00am but it is now all done and

      Mission Accomplished
Today was a strange Saturday because I didn't have S Factor today (will return next week), so I had the whole day devoted to me. I started off the day with a 3 mile jog/ walk to Larchmont and back, which was lovely. Most lovely part about it was that I went so early in the morning so none on the cute little shops were open so I could save my precious pennies for the rest of afternoon. I had a mission today (which is unusual for my shopping trips). I wanted another pair of True Religion jeans, which currently rank as my second favorite brand in denim ... Taverniti So still pulling in for first. I also wanted to pick up this awesome hat I saw on Melrose last week by Christy's Crown. Those are two potentially quick errands but I wanted to shop ALL day. Of course I planned shopping excursion never goes as planned, so the day started off a bit rocky. I went to Loehmanns in Burbank first ... Yes I bargain shop. I chose the Burbank location because no one is ever there, the one on

Republicans Buck Bush On Iraq Benchmarks By Jonathan WeismanWashington Post Staff Writer Tuesday, May 1, 2007; Page A05 Brushing aside White House opposition, Republican leaders in Congress said yesterday that negotiations on a second war spending bill should begin with benchmarks of success for the Iraqi government, and possible consequences if those benchmarks are not met.Democratic leaders will send a $124 billion war funding bill to President Bush today that would establish such benchmarks and tie them to troop withdrawals, which would begin as early as July 1 if they are not met. The bill will arrive at the White House on the fourth anniversary of Bush's speech aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln, when he declared an end to major combat operations in Iraq before a banner that proclaimed "Mission Accomplished." more Bill on Iraq to Be Delivered 4 Years After Bush’s WordsBy NY Times Reporters SHERYL GAY STOLBERG and JEFF ZELENY Published: May 1, 2007

Iraqi cleric ends boycott: "Mission Accomplished"
BAGHDAD, Iraq — Anti-American Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr and his political allies announced on Sunday the end of a two-month boycott on Iraqi politics. Al-Sadr, Iraq’s parliamentary speaker, made the announcement in front of a large banner reading “Mission Accomplished” after other members of the country’s parliament agreed to consider the al-Sadr bloc’s political demands. The cleric “found the banner on eBay,” according to an aide speaking on condition of anonymity. “It was so cheap we couldn’t pass it up. I mean we would have paid more for it, but whoever owned it really wanted to get rid of it, I guess. What we’ve accomplished here isn’t exactly, totally done, but Mr. al-Sadr was so excited about the banner he just had us put it up anyway.” The banner was not made available for comment.
