Israel to install AA missile defense on airliners.
According to reports, Israel will be outfitting its airliners with defense systems designed to thwart missile attacks. The defense will probably be a system with flares, designed to distract an incoming missile's heat-seeking mechanism. It will be installed first on planes flying to destinations considered dangerous, i.e Africa and parts of Asia. The need for a missile defense system was recognized in 2002, when an Israeli passenger jet was targeted after takeoff by Islamic militants using shoulder-fired missiles outside Mombasa, Kenya. The rockets missed, but spurred Israel to find a way to protect its airliners with a defense similar to that already used by its air force. Democrats did not particularly like what Rumsfeld was doing in creating the Missile Defense Agency, but they did not have the political muscle to stop him. And after Sept. 11, the "whatever it takes" mind set that had taken hold in Washington further dampened their ability to challenge the program. For example, Democrats mostly failed in their attempts to reduce the agency's budget, which Republicans fed with tens of billions of dollars on the strength of Rumsfeld's A-vision of a missile system that could defend the country a

Dying Satellite Shot Down 150 Miles Above EarthWatch VideoA U.S. Navy cruiser blasted a disabled spy satellite with a pinpoint missile strike that achieved the main mission of exploding a tank of toxic fuel 130 miles above the Pacific Ocean, defense officials said.Destroying the satellite’s onboard tank of about 1,000 pounds of hydrazine fuel was the primary goal, and a U.S. official told NBC News that it "looks like the tank was hit.""Nearly all of the debris will burn up on re-entry within 24-48 hours and the remaining debris should re-enter within 40 days," it said. The use of the Navy missile amounted to an unprecedented use of components of the Pentagon's missile defense system, designed to shoot down hostile ballistic missiles in flight — not kill satellites.Read Article... U.S Missile Sparks Weapons Race Fears

      Success! US Missile Nails Satellite
Let the rest of the world tremble at our power!Missle-tmby luvnewsAP:A Navy missile soaring 130 miles above the Pacific smashed a dying and potentially deadly U.S. spy satellite Wednesday and probably destroyed a tank carrying 1,000 pounds of toxic fuel, officials said.Officials had expressed cautious optimism that the missile would hit the satellite, which was the size of a school bus. But they were less certain of hitting the smaller, more problematic fuel tank, whose contents posed what Bush administration officials deemed a potential health hazard to humans if it landed intact. In a statement announcing that the Navy missile struck the satellite, the Pentagon said, "Confirmation that the fuel tank has been fragmented should be available within 24 hours." It made no mention of early indi

More talks will be held in the future to finalise negotiations between the USA and Poland. From the initial plans, the biggest opponent to such strategic defence system is Russia, who fears such plans could destabilise the status quo between the two countries.Poland, a close ally with the United States, wants to push forward with this project. The meeting was held in Washington, where the Polish Foreign Minister, Radoslaw Sikorski discussed issues around the interceptor rockets with Condoleezza Rice, the US Secretary of State.Vladimir Putin only recently criticised the move by Poland to allow a US Military base in Poland and Czech Republic and labeled it as a provocative move.It is only a 'principle' agreeme

the wireless USB Missile Launcher Remote
Good news, office warfare fans - the USB Missile Launcher is back, in a new, flashier wireless version that makes for the strategic siting of remote batteries.Like the wired version, the new launcher is controlled by a little targetting app running on a Windows PC. This time round, what's plugged into said system is a dish-like wireless transmitter that can talk to a similar unit wired up to the launcher itself. Supplier Brando claims dish-to-dish communications can take place at distances of up to 15ft, which the launcher can propel its payload of three foam missiles a further 20ft. Right down the corridor and into the Accounts department, in other words. The software provides full firing control, with elevation and direction ready to be set at the click of a mouse. Voting for Euro Missile defense systems
"Perhaps the reason for the renewed impetus has political considerations in mind; establishing permanent, lasting defense links before November would make it difficult for the next U.S. administration to annul..." Contrary to the popular view that little gets done in Washington during the “silly season”, particularly pertaining to matters national security, U.S. and Czech negotiators are stepping up plans to complete plans for the establishment of the Administration's "third site" for its missile defense system in Europe. European press reports that the Czech Government will attempt to finalize its negotiations with Washington sooner rather than later:“The Czech prime minister Mrek Topolanek has said he plans to tie up negotiations on a planned US defence shield before the end of Pr

India tests its first interceptor missile successfully..
Indian Defence research organisation has once again proved why its one of the best in the world with the successful testing of Advanced Air Defence (AAD-02) which is in the same level of Patriot Missile systems of US(PAC-3).ccording to Dr. Saraswat, the AAD-02 was capable of intercepting M-9 and M-11 class of missiles “which are with our adversaries.” The AAD-02 was slightly better than the PAC-3 (Patriot Advanced Capability) of the U.S. in terms of range and altitude. The direct hit compared very well with the PAC-3 in terms of accuracy. Avinash Chander, Director, Advanced Systems’ Laboratory (ASL), Hyderabad, said, “I don’t think any country [other than India] was able to achieve a direct-hit in the first attempt” in endo-atmosphere. “The interceptor crossed the target missile at the correct point. The target missile went into fragments thereafter.” The ASL, a DRDL unit, had contributed significantly to the mission. The AAD-02 was specifically designed and develo

Ok, we all know this real estate thing is getting big, but now does this trump everything? Does this signal a top in the market? A Titan Missile Base is for sale on ebay (via giz) It even has it’s own website. This thing is crazy, it has 3 160′ tall missile silos on 57 acres! It has 16 underground buildings. Read that twice. Sadly all the 1950’s vintage equipment was removed (yeah, no missiles there either) and to get this thing back up to the swinging bachelor pad it was meant to be would cost some millions o’ ducats. But how much just to buy this bad boy? $1.5million. That’s right, for the price of a small 2 bedroom apartment in manhattan, all that can be yours. I swear, I keep finding more and more reasons for me to win the big lottery. When, lord, when’s gonna be my time?? Perhaps I am in the wrong business. Missile Defense Strains U.S.-Russia Ties
Vladimir Putin must at times feel like he is living in one of his worst nightmares with the former Soviet satellite countries eager to join NATO and offering the US space at former Soviet military bases. Poland and Czechoslovakia are just two of the latest east European countries to woo America for a military presence in their territory. The bases in question would be for anti-ballistic missile hardware ostensibly to guard against Iran. Putin feels it to be a direct threat to Russia’s nuclear forces. And what he sees as possibly an equal threat is being drawn into another cold war style contest of military hardware buildup in the missile and anti-missile fields. And this is a contest he knows he can not successfully compete in. The old Soviet Union managed nuclear parity with the west by virtually bankrupting the rest of the country to pay for it. Putin knows he has nowhere near the resources nor the political clout to do so today. Russia has always had an anti missile shield that at

Advanced Russian Air Defense Missile Cannot Protect Syrian and Iranian Skies
DEBKA - The Pantsyr-S1E missiles, purchased from Russia to repel air assailants, failed to down the Israeli jets accused of penetrating northern Syrian airspace from the Mediterranean the night before. The new Pantsyr missiles therefore leave Syrian and Iranian airspace vulnerable to hostile intrusion.Western intelligence circles stress that information on Russian missile consignments to Syria or Iran is vital to any US calculation of whether to attack Iran over its nuclear program. They assume that the “absolute jamming immunity” which the Russian manufactures promised for the improved Pantsyr missiles was immobilized by superior electronic capabilities exercised by the jets before they were “forced to leave.”

Russia accused of attacking Georgia with missile
Georgia - Georgian officials demanded that Russia explain why a pair of Russian fighter jets violated Georgian airspace and fired a missile that landed near a village north of the capital."We have summoned the Russian ambassador and protested the attack against a sovereign country and we do expect a serious explanation and a serious Russian response," said Georgian Foreign Minister Gela Bezhuashvili. According to the minister, Georgian radar and eyewitnesses recorded the aircraft entering Georgian airspace, dropping a 1,000 kilogram (2,200 pound) precision-guided bomb. Authorities said the ordnance landed near the village of Tsitelubani, but did not explode and there were no casualties. Video from the site showed wreckage with Russian writing on it. A senior official in Russia's air force quickly denied the reports. © NewsGirl.OrgTo subscribe (FREE) : HEREView us logon athttp://worldtopnews.blogspot.comRead Business Articles for FreeMalay's Blog Interest In Investment ?Read Before

      Missile-launcher aimed at Gaza
A number of Israelis from the Tel Aviv vicinity drove south and fired improvised missiles towards Gaza, in an effort to raise awareness of the difficult situation in Sderot. The group used a projectile-launcher built by Yahav Michaeli - a stunts and pyrotechnics expert - to lob organic eggs and vegetables towards Beit Hanoun. “The idea was to draw attention to what’s going on with a little bit of humor, because we thought it could relieve the pressure a little,” said members of the group. “When you wander around Sderot and notice the atmosphere there, you understand that a sort of emotional stagnation has taken hold of the State. That’s why we decided to do what we did,” they said. “We need to shake people up and we thought that this sort of shooting towards Beit Hanoun would be a type of peaceful shooting. IDF sources who heard of the missile launcher hurried worriedly to the launch site. They were greeted by group member Yigal Tzur, who
