We had about fours hours to kill at the Grand Maratha. The girl discovered all the complimentary chocolates, cumin sticks, and fruits in the room and declared this was a great hotel! We had dinner at the Dum Pukht. The Kakori Kababs were as good as ever; I also tried their Chandni Murgh Tikka for the first time. The Sheermal, Taftan, and Dumpukht Biryani were all excellent as usual. The check-in at

1. I am still in the field, but again have access to the Internet. So we'll try to gear back up with a few odds and ends.2. A reader sends us a news item: Newsarama reports that the Top Cow limited-run comic book series The Magdalena is to be made into a movie. I admit I've had little contact with Top Cow comics (they produce Witchblade, if you didn't know), so I haven't read this title; however,
The girl-child is home sick today. The boy-child is in on some kind of demon growth-spurt that requires him to suckle at tit every hour upon the hour. The double all-terrain sports stroller that the husband brought home yesterday so that the wee ones and I could travel further than three blocks together is missing the infant insert (you know, for inserting infant) and so we are trapped, TRAPPED I

I thought for sure I’d have a few minutes to blog while I’m away. I mean, I’ve got two grandmas, two aunties and several friends here, right? Turns out, many of them actually want to talk to me and not just chase my kid around. Harumph.

Book Description
ISBN-1861978669
This is a somewhat unusual sort of book, but very attractive. It is filled with miscellaneous information that should prove of interest to business people, put together by one of the world’s top business authorities, The Economist.
The people at The Economist had in mind for this little red volume is something that the business [...]

On Thursday I attended Min Jin Lee Upstairs at the Square BN.com event and has such a good time. It was even covered at Galleycat.Min Jin Lee brilliantly discussed how her main character's last name, Hong, in her native Korean tongue speaks to the concept of anguish while Mike Doughty made the hair on my arm stand when he sung Fort Hood.- Rafaela G. Castro, retired librarian and author ofProvocaciones: Letters from the Prettiest Girl in Arvin wrote to me and let me know the book was reviewed at Tucsonweekly last year. I'm sharing the review with everyone and reminding you to check the book out.- Latina magazine got a revamped website and now has a book club: Latina.com/community Coincidently, they are readingPaula by Isabel Allende.
This week’s Thursday guest post over at Political Humor by Radioactive Liberty is a hodge-podge, a mismash (or is it mismesh. Jeff help me out here!) of un-related news stories along with a harrowing and true mini-tale of helicopter crashes.
Of course it is about politics, except for the helicopter part. Enjoy.

One comment that I get quite often from folks about living the meatless life is that they feel that they're just too busy and simply don't have time to cook, so they couldn't possibly go veg*n. I say that's silly. Our lives are just as busy as everyone else's, but somehow we manage to get supper on the table.Like this week. Monday night I had my first yoga class. (And boy, am I sore in places I never even knew I had! Don't let anyone ever tell you that yoga isn't a tough workout. It'll kick your ass from today to tomorrow. Even the end my nose aches, and I don't remember balancing on my face. Maybe I've just been picking it too much.....haha) Anyway, I knew supper had to be over in a hurry. Enter stage left, my trusty slow cooker. Fifteen minutes of prep in the morning, and we came home
Okay, so it's been a while since my last post. This has had nothing to do with the unhappiness at work that had previously coincided with my absences from blogging. I'm between full-time jobs, and I've been working more hours at the book store in the meantime. I've actually been having a blast! Working in retail during the holiday season provides a bizarre sort of thrill, and I've enjoyed it immensely. The new job starts in about a week.I believe it was the day after my last post that Mitt Romney gave the world his fantastic speech about how his religion would or would not influence him as president. From what I heard, he really gave a stirring, impassioned, convincing, honest, and reassuring speech. Really great! Congratulations, Mitt. However, as magnificent as his speech was, he made it
*~*Anyone looking for gifts for our kids will be sent here, here, here, here, here and several other such places. Notice that none of those places rhyme with All-Fart? I am SO SICK of all the recalls. We have gotten rid of so many toys in the past month (thank you freecycling), though you’d never know it by looking around our house. You still can’t see the floor!
*~*My hips are getting better - thanks for asking. More aggressive stretching and swimming has helped. And also? A husband who has been doing the middle of the night hip numbing hours long rocking sessions. I lurve him.
*~*Our basement is almost finished! My mother in law’s husband and my own have been working their tails off and it’s just about there. We still need two doors, some door jambs, a little bit of molding, bathroom walls tiled and little things like that but at least we can use it now. It’s completely vunderful.
*~*Speaking of vunderful, my child apparently has some eastern
An assorted list of things I need to work on this weekend:1. There's Chili's Holiday Shopping Carnival to get ready for.2. I overheard my kids talking in the kitchen about some kid things that reminded me of adult things...not sure that one will make it to the blog.3. My first ever book review - yes, a publisher sent me a brand new children's book and I'm reviewing it this week, so stay tuned!4. A Thanksgiving post to beat all Thanksgiving posts.5. A birthday post with photos of my soon-to-be-three-year-old daughter.6. Clean this wrecked house of mine!7. Practice the song I'm singing at my MIL's church Sunday morning.8. Enjoy some stress-free time with my family - we got a free rental from Redbox and we rented "Meet the Robinsons".Hope you all have a terrific weekend! See you Monday...Technorati Tags: laundry list, Texas
{summary}1. My supervisor thinks I’m awesome. She may just be blowing smoke up my ass, but for the time being my disgruntlement is at a slow simmer.
2. Scott has eaten almost an entire bag of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups since Saturday. I have, on the other hand, eaten much worse and I didn’t get the added benefit of protein from it, either. Mmmm, Trick or Treeeeeeat.
3. When I was a kid my knee-jerk reaction to people waking me up was to swing at them. Rosco’s reaction is to throw a damn tantrum. Yeah. Go back to sleep, kid.
4. I think we’ll open the door for the few trick or treaters we’ll get tomorrow. Normally we eat all the candy we buy before the evening and so we have to turnoff the lights and pretend we’re not home. Since we bought a bunch for Saturday’s Trunk or Treat that is left over we might as well share the cavities with the neighborhood kids (tee hee).

10 stone. Bugger. It's because I've been grazing these last few days - I've been so fixated on the water situation that I haven't been paying attention to what I'm eating. I don't want to cause much washing up, so I've been eating things I can put in the microwave and eat from the container, which inevitably means high carb content. And carbs and me don't mix well, or rather they mix far too well with my waistline. Will have to get back on top of that. I bought a size 12 skirt on Sunday and I would like it to fit for more than a week.I'm getting puzzled by reports on how long the water is likely to be off. Every report I've heard is saying between seven and fourteen days. Is that from when the water went off? Because otherwise they're extending the length of time without on a daily basis. Some households in Tewkesbury will get some mains water for about 12 hours today I think they said on the radio this morning - it's being diverted from another supplier but will

I wish I could remember who it was that first point out to me The Bible Fight game, but apparently there are some Christians who enjoy it as well. I wasn't too interested in the game myself. I'd much rather protect villagers from being carried off.***After reading Christopher Hitchens' book God Is Not Great and hearing his comments on Jerry Falwell I have come to the conclusion that Hitchens is the atheists Jerry Falwell. Think about it: 1) Both make outrageous claims 2) Both claim to speak for the whole of the people the represent 3) Both enjoy imensely grabbing as much as the spotlight as they possibly can. Hat tip to Slacker for first bringing this video to my attention. Though I do not think Falwell ever flipped off an audience for hissing him.Added points if you can guess what picture came up when I did a google image search of Hitchens book by title. Even I was surprised.***What do you value? I have to admit this video choked me up a bit. Hat tip to Pulpit Pimps.***

As usual, I've found that I can't make a trip to Dr. Brett's site without learning something. His three part post on Trading Like a Scientist (I, II, and III) is a great example of that particular phenomenon. I am a firm believer in approaching stock trading (and my day job for that matter) in the objective, dispassionate manner that Dr. Brett describes. Read and learn, my friends.Need any other examples of how Yahoo screwed up during Terry Semel's reign as CEO? How about how they mis-handled the financial blogger phenomenon? TheFlyonTheWall (not to be confused with Fly on Wall Street) has the story.Adam writes about naked put selling as a bullish strategy (see here also). It's been on my to do list to learn this exact trade for a while. That being the case, don't be surprised if I tinker with this approach a bit in the coming months.Kevin has started a new blog called The Forex Report and I immediately added a link to it on the right side of my blog. If it's half as insightful

Well, I finall took my nike+ ipod setup out on the open road and logged a 5k. I ran around my neighborhood, which ended up being surprisingly hilly. It didn’t compare to Coachman Park, but it gave me a run for my money (no pun intended). I didn’t run the whole way, which I was fine with. I haven’t been training regularly since I’ve been gearing up for finals, and, if my ipod setup was at all accurate, which I think it was, since I have gauged the area I ran at around 3 miles, then my pace was way down from what it normally is, which explains the huffing, puffing, and feelings of imminent doom. Additionally, after loading the data into NikePlus.com, I was proudly informed that my fasted 1-mile was a little under 10 minutes… lemme tell you, I have NEVER run a ten-minute mile before. I’m sure seasoned runners aren’t impressed, but I sure am, considering I was routinely the last person still on the track when we were forced to run the one and two

dooce got me hooked on this song. Now I want the album. She has this fun link thing going on. I wonder which ones she gets paid for, if any. How does it work, and is it duplicable? Wouldn't that be nice? And Jamila Akil introduces logic and facts into the health care debate. I like her thinking. Very, very refreshing.T just walked by with smiling baby in a full laundry basket. Adorable. And Ruby has been very vigilant about the evil phone company guys on the other side of the hedge. They must be stopped, and made to leave the edge of her yard. It means B can't go hang out in the tree until they're done for lunch.T is off later to NC to look at property. It's hard to know what to do with the last bit of the exchange. The rules are funny. And Mom is in NM until Monday.I think we'll hit the botanical garden tomorrow. There's some dino sculpture thing going on B wants to see.
Still 9st 10lbs. I'm actually eating (although not necessarily meals since there has been nibbly stuff in the office a lot this week) and I'm still solidly on 9st 10lbs, so that has to be a good sign, doesn't it? On the other hand, my Mum asked me last week if I had lost more weight because she thinks my face is looking thinner, and I have been wondering if my calves are getting thinner because my boots don't grip as tight anymore. It could be that they've stretched of course.I've put a sitemeter on the review blog as well now, because I was curious. Was surprised to discover yesterday that there had been three views of it that weren't me. Weird. Mind you, the sitemeter to this site provides some amusing information on how people get here. For example, someone found my site by putting the search terms bunny peed on futon into Google. Okay, so I know I've got those various words in the blog, but since the visitor apparently didn't stay long you do wonder what they were

This is his three-part epic that spans a 30-year period as it tells the panoramic story of a group of Russian writers who strive to create a new political system using only their minds as weapons. You'll be able to see the show in three separate showings or in an all-day marathon — if you can stand it.
* No day trades today. I played hooky and went sledding with my family instead.* I'm reading that the FCC may block a merger between XM and Sirius. I know the FCC's intention is to protect consumers from monopolistic pricing practices and I understand that goal. If I were someone like Cramer who just throws my uneducated opinions around I might say that I see some real efficiencies in these two companies merging. Heck, the newly combined company will ultimately file bankruptcy just once rather than twice for the two separate companies. Oh no I didn't...* Speaking of combining two weak companies and expecting the sum to be one strong company, I just heard on CNBC that speculation is growing about a possible Chrysler/GM pairing. (Hey, why not throw Ford in the mix as well!) I guess those thinking of combining GM and Chrysler can hang their hats on the marriage of mediocre Sears and God bloody awful K Mart somehow resulting in a Wall Street darling. I still don't get that one.
