If you read my previous post about BMW E36 Heated Mirrors, you should know that one of my heated mirrors is not working. Today, I’ve decided to look for a procedure on how to fix heated mirrors in BMW E36 cars. It seems the procedure is easy, but needs some attention to make sure that you will not end with a broken mirror instead of a working one. Anyway, I’m sure that many of you will find this post useful as it will save you around 300$ for replacing the mirrors. Finally, I just wanted to thank Kam for writing this priceless procedure.

Hi, I’ve been reading about the heated mirrors in BMW E36 cars recently. It seems that heated mirrors come with the winter package, which means that if you have heated seats (like me :-p), it means that you should have heated mirrors as well. The only weird thing that I found out is that almost all the BMW E36 car owners with heated mirrors say that these mirrors stay hot all the time while the car is turned on. I heard one of them saying that it’s connected with the OBC, but I believe this is wishful thinking and that’s far from the truth, because the rest are saying that heated mirrors will feel hot all the time regardless of the exterior temperature. This behavior is really weird, because it means that if the heated mirrors are on all the time, then what is the possible use of that in summer? Also, why I can’t control them? I believe the best setup is to control them with the defrost button, but that’s my humble opinion, not the engineers of BMW.

Fog-Free Mirrors
Even though I’ve heard of tricks to keep mirrors fog free I’ve never actually tried them.
On p. 402 of the Tightwad:
To make any mirror fog-free, you need not purchase the expensive anti-fog products. Simply use liquid soap; spread it on glass with a cloth to cover completely, then polish dry with another cloth. This lasts for a long time.

I want to share the post that Visible, from his blog at ‘Smoking Mirrors‘, has just posted. He highlights again the ridiculousness of the “debates” for the US Presidential race. If you watched the video I posted below, and indeed most others posted, including Ron Paul, you get the sense that the other candidates are not quite sure how best to deal with this brave speaker who will not shirk away from saying what he believes no matter what the audience. Mostly they resort to attempting to ridicule him, puffing up their faux chests to go with their faux desires to really give freedom to the people.

I had this happen with some Regency chrome mirrors. This may seem like a laughable matter, but I guarantee you that it is not a laughing matter. I had been searching for what seemed like years - more likely a few hours - for that one part. Not that the part wasn't working, but I had lost that mini-mirror inside of the bigger mirror on the drivers side. I liked having the mini-mirror. However, I think what I disliked most was the fact that it left a nasty ring where it used to be and it didn't match the other side. My choices were (A) rip off the other mini-mirror so I was even, or (B) purchase a new mirror.Regency chrome mirrors sound like they would be easy to find. Call of Oldsmobile and order that part. I am already fedup with paying more money for beef and other food because the government wants to subsidize ethanol. That is a waste of good money.

Make up mirrors are a must have for any person who puts any kind of face product on their body. To be sure, you can always tell a person who has a good mirror with good lighting and one who doesn't. Common symptoms of a person who doesn't have a proper make up mirror include eye shadows and liners that aren't properly blended, missed areas of foundation and the dreaded make up line. Nobody wants to look as though they have a three inch thick mask of make up that they put on every morning, so it always surprises me when people don't take the time and effort to get a good mirror.
