I don't know if I can say I loved it or I hated it. I remember when this movie came out, like a year before, the movie Wrong Turn came out. Now, Wrong Turn is a blatant rip off of the original Wes Craven 'Hills' film, but it filled the gap for mutated cannibal families living in some secluded portion of the US. I had my fill, and by the time the remake of 'Hills' came out, I had had enough. But through the glory of Netflix, I thought "why the hell not?". I can't really say I enjoyed this film as much as I would've liked. I’ve never been in a car with GPS (Global Positioning System), but it must be fascinating. I’m traveling to a funeral this morning in a remote part of East Tennessee and I’m worried about getting lost. I’ll look at some maps and even have Mapquest print me out a route, but this is one of those occasions that I wish I had a GPS in the car. Ok...wow. I don't even know where to begin with this movie. Overall, I liked it. Getting over the explicit sex scenes (and there are a lot of them), at it's core it's a very simple movie about resolving isolationism and how we're all in this together...a theme underscored by the setting of the movie, a post 9/11 New York. I did have some disappointments. I wished that some of the sex scenes had been cut down so they could actually flesh out some of the characters...mainly the painfully reserved ex-prostitute, James.
