Very few candies scare me just by hearing the name. I can think of a few though… vomit flavored jellybeans, garlic mints, Hotlix (candy with real bugs in it). I think these Chum Bucket Mints are some of the scariest though.

It’s not easy to find innovation in mints nowadays. How many different round mints in rectangular tins can the market sustain, really? That’s why I was so pleased to stumble on the “Great Bite” product line. They have some of the coolest packaging and product shapes I’ve come across in a while. The tins, [...]

I love it when I go shopping for one thing and end up finding something else instead. That’s what happened when I went holiday shopping the other day. I went in looking for a certain gift and ended up walking out with a box of the new Junior Mints Peppermint Crunch. Isn’t the box pretty? I love how festive it is!
Junior Mints and I have a sordid history. As a kid I’d only really have them at Halloween since they weren’t something I’d ask for. Each year when I’d give them a try, I knew why. I was never a big fan of mint and chocolate (although I’m warming up to it now) and they’d always end up in the trash.
Now that I do enjoy Junior Mints on occasion, I was eager to give these new ones a try. They smell the same as regular variety and right away you can see a difference. The usually smooth, dark chocolate coating is now bumpy with little red nonpareils that show through. It’s a little strange, but not off-putting at all.

Good news Candy Addicts! Our friends over at Wrigley are showing the holiday spirit and want to share some of their great products with Candy Addict readers! We’ve decided to have a Wrigley Trivia Contest to determine who gets the free goods!

Recently we reviewed a mint that is completely made and marketed for men: Wrench Mints. Today, we bring you the exact opposite - Mirror Mints from Little i. What makes these so appealing to women? Cute pink packaging screams girlie-cute, but the one thing that puts these over the top is the mirror. Each tin has a built-in mirror so you can check your look while popping a mint.
The mints come in variety of flavors like chocolate and citrus, but the review samples I got were all peppermint. The mints are sweetened with sorbitol and Splenda and are as good as any other peppermint you’ll find. Realistically though, you buy these for the packaging. I thought it was a cute idea and when I showed them to my wife she said it was an awesome idea and immediately claimed the review samples for herself.
They even have a tin that is specifically made to be reused as a business card holder. It fits business cards, has a built-in mirror, and comes with mints! Who could ask for more?

If I’ve learned anything about gum recently it’s this: gum isn’t just for chewing anymore. No, nowadays it freshens your breath, entertains your taste buds, even sends caffeine coursing through your system. X-it Sugarfree is no exception. In addition to X-it Sugarfree Gum, I also received several different types of mints and bonbons. I have enough gum and mints to keep my breath fresh for a decade.
What’s my favorite thing about these X-it products? Honestly, its the packaging. Each product comes in an attractive tin that tucks easily into your purse or pocket, guarding the lining against spillage. Even better, the tiny mints come in tins with black plastic lining that dispenses a couple at a time - even more protection against spillage!
X-it Sugarfree Gum Spearmint: Each piece of this gum is about the size of an aspirin, but twice as thick. Its appearance doesn’t convey much - it’s white but mottled, with sporadic green flecks. It looks old, which isn’t
Once again it’s time for the game show craze that’s sweeping the nation: Name That Candy! Readers email about long-lost candy and we try to figure out what candy they are talking about. If you know what these candies are, leave a comment and let them know!
Here’s one from a reader named David:
There is a particular candy I had several time as a kid that no one else has ever heard of. I need to prove I am not insane, so please help me figure out the name of it. Google has not been kind so far.
It was bought Cleveland, Ohio in the late 1980s. Each item was sold individually. It was a soft candy that had a jelly-like consistency. It was soft enough to ooze into a puddle if you squeezed it out. The taste was exceedingly sweet, like a liquefied Pixie Stik, but without any sourness. The memorable part is that it came in a package that simulated vomiting. It was arranged in the manner of a Pez dispenser, with a toy child's head at the top and a reservoir for the
As a man, sometimes you want a mint, but you don’t want to carry around those wimpy rectangular tins. You want a man’s mint, something like a Wrench Mints. Wrench Mints are a new mint hitting Ace Hardware, Home Depot, and other similarly man-centric stores soon. They are clearly aimed at males judging by the wrench-shaped tins and the wrench-shaped mints, though I bet women would enjoy them too.
You might think these novelty mints would be lacking in the taste department, but not so. These are some tasty mints! They come in Peppermint and Cinnamon flavor and both are sugar-free. The Peppermint has a good strong mint flavor - not to the level of an Altoid, but they come pretty close. As for the Cinnamon, I freakin’ love the Cinnamon, but I’m a big fan of cinnamon candies anyway. I swear I’ve had cinnamon candy or mints that taste just like this, but I can’t recall what it was. Regardless, the Cinnamon is darn good.
I would definitely buy either f

When Tundra Trading recently sent us a box of their Finnish sweets to try, I was thrilled to try the licorice, but somewhat hesitant to experience the variety of xylitol-based confections included (given Brian’s experience with xylitol). Well, as it turns out, my expectations were turned completely upside down.
Of the assortment, I tried first the red Tire Tread, having previously mentioned the black licorice version. The red is similar to the black, though a bit less sticky. The flavor is slightly fruity, but doesn’t bear any specific flavor reference. Overall, I enjoyed the red quite a bit and would definitely recommend it to fans of red licorice.
Next up were two types of Tubi’s Organic Soft Licorice - one long rope and a bag of small chews. In every way except length, the two varieties were identical. Unfortunately, that means that I didn’t really enjoy either of them. I found the Tubi’s to be somewhat grainy and the texture to be unpleasant. The fl
“Take it back inside and give it back to the man at the counter.”
My mom looked at me pointedly. Tears welled in my eyes. I clutched a box of Junior Mints, a box my mother knew the cashier hadn’t seen and she hadn’t paid for. I was four.
“That’s called stealing,” Mom said. “Take it back in and say you’re sorry.”
I did. To this day, I pay for every box of Junior Mints I consume. Looking back, I’m not sure what made me choose Junior Mints that fateful day. Maybe it has something to do with the glossy chocolate coating and how it encapsulated a perfect, creamy mint center. A retro candy staple first released in 1949, Junior Mints were my first mint love. Now that I’m older, I love garden mint body spray, mojitos, and any combinations of mint and chocolate I can find. Junior Mints were my candy gateway to all things mint.
They certainly don’t seem to compare to the other candies I preferred when I was a child. I loved bright, colorful, fruity candies, sweets so c
This month’s Licorice of the Month Club selections included a couple of somewhat unique confections and a tasty old standby.
I started with the Chateau D’Lanz Swiss Licorice. It comes in a pretty gold foil bag and is described as “The Ultimate Hard Licorice Drop.” I wasn’t sure what to expect, but from the picture on the Licorice International website, I thought they would perhaps be similar to a softer drop but in a firm texture. However, I was mistaken.
For one thing, the drops I received were completely squished down and stuck together. This may have been from melting, but I’m not entirely sure. I paid careful attention to the advice on the back of the package to “Suck, don’t chew!” and popped one in my mouth. Due to the strange shape, it wasn’t very comfortable, but I persevered. I quickly discovered that they were quite hard, but soon softened. However, they were extremely sticky and definitely posed a hazard to any loos
The Royal Canadian Mint unveiled a welcome addition to any piggy bank - a monster gold coin with a face value of C$1 million (455,000 pounds) that it says is the world's biggest, purest and highest denomination coin. The Canadian mint introduced the mega-coin, which is the size of an extra-large pizza, alongside the one-ounce gold bullion coins it is mass producing at its Ottawa plant. At 53 centimetres (21 inches) in diameter and over 3 cm (1.2 inches) thick, the massive coins need a high level of hand crafting. Originally designed to promote the new one-ounce coins, the colossal 100 kg coins will be produced in a very limited quantity. A U.S. precious metals distributor has ordered three and there is interest in Asia and Europe.More related:Tiny Jenga In Your PocketCartoon TV Sets On Sale in JapanGoogle Launches New Reader for Wii Why Bush Still Cant Catch Bin LadenTop 10 Michigan Car Accident GuidePamela Anderson Free Movie Download HD DVD "The Code" ShirtWorld First Gold Porsche B
Since I started Candy Addict, I’ve reviewed a number of “energy” candies and they all seem to have one thing in common: they don’t taste all that great. That’s ok though, you don’t eat an energy candy for the taste, you want it to give you an energy boost - you just hope it doesn’t taste bad.
Mojo for Energy is a chewable, sugar-free energy mint in a “tri-mint” flavor that comes in packs of 10. The mints are the diameter of a penny and about the thickness of 2-3 nickels. The tri-mint flavor reminds me of minty Scope or Listermint. Not a flavor you crave, but not terrible really. It’s chewable and the texture reminds me of Tums - easily chewable but somewhat gritty.
Mojo contains guarana, ginseng, taurine, and vitamin B12 and each mint contains 22mg of caffeine. So the real question is do they work? Well, for me, they do - I can definitely tell a difference after eating one of the mints - I feel slightly buzzed and more energ
(banana-flavored Monkey Mints)
Along with the Bacon Mints I reviewed earlier this week, I also received two tins of banana-flavored Monkey Mints and two tins of grog-flavored Pirate Mints. Thankfully, the horrid smell of the Bacon Mints didn’t permeate the sealed Monkey Mints and Pirate Mints tins.
Monkey Mints: The first thing that you notice about Monkey Mints is the cool monkey-face-shaped tin. It’s almost worth the cost of the mints just for the cool green tin. Once you actually open the tin, you’ll see 100 round yellow mints. When I first popped one in my mouth, I immediately thought of a banana Runt. After a second, the mint taste came through. Banana and mint isn’t a flavor combination I had ever considered before, but it’s not bad. Neither flavor is overwhelming and they mix rather nicely actually. And seriously - who doesn’t like monkeys?
(grog-flavored Pirate Mints)
Pirate Mints: The Pirate Mints say they are “Grog Flavored”
I am amazed at how often bacon and candy cross paths. Candy Addict has done articles on chocolate-covered bacon, gummi bacon, and bacon jellybeans. Now we can add Bacon Mints to the list. When I was offered some Bacon Mints to review, I immediately said “hell, yes!” but wondered what they would taste like.
When the package arrived, it contained two tins of Bacon Mints and two tins of Bacon Flavored Toothpicks (more on those later). Opening the shipping package brought a scent to my nose that I wasn’t prepared for. It was bacony, minty, and had a smell of a hospital. The smell was odd and didn’t hit me as being an appetizing smell.
I opened a tin and took a big sniff and it nearly knocked me over and I don’t mean that in a good way. It was an absolutely awful smell. It’s really hard to describe, but it’s not a smell you want to get a whiff of. At this point I wasn’t really looking forward to trying them, but reviewing candy isn’t al
Returning to their roots, PEZ recently released 2 new mint flavors. Not only are these candies smaller, but they’re a different shape than the PEZ candy than you’re used to.
PEZ is obviously shooting for an older target age with this product. For one, the dispensers don’t feature clowns, or Ninja Turtles, or any characters molded on the top. They feature paintings by Norman Rockwell from his Saturday Evening Post covers. The shape is very reminiscent of what is known as a “PEZ regular”, which are the plain, lighter sized dispensers originally used to distribute PEZ.
The mints come in 2 flavors: Orange and Mint. The Orange tastes like Orange Tic Tacs, but not as sweet. The Mint is good too, about 1/2 as strong as an Altoid, but still effective. Both lasted a decent amount of time before dissolving. I got my Mini Mint PEZ at Walgreens. The sign said that they were exclusive to Walgreens, but I’m not positive if that was the entire line, or just the li
Bacon Flavored MintsEach one of these mints tastes like a delicious slice of crispy bacon with just a hint of mint flavor to give it that extra punch! It may sound weird but once you taste it, you'll see that mint and bacon is a match made in China. Each 2-1/4" x 2" x 1/2" tin contains one hundred mints.
