I'm in love with python. Some people don't like the scaly feel of snake skin but python is just so luxurious to me, but pricey. So anytime I can get my hands on an affordable python piece, I grab it! LuxCouture has one of the best selections of luxury bags (thus the name LuxCouture!) and they have an enviable selection of python bags. This one in particular caught my eye. I was surprised to discover it actually isn't python but looks so much like it I love it anyway! The Ultra in Printed Leather is by Minority and it's a brilliant bronze-y oversized clutch with scalloped, snakeskin-like leather detailing. $725 is a price typically reserved for authentic python skin but this bag is so gorgeous it might just get a pass! And for those of you who don't like snakes, this one's for you!

By Anita BruzzeseGannett News ServiceKen Arroyo Roldan says that there is a dearth of diversity at the senior levels in American companies today, and executive search firms share much of the blame for that fact.By the way, Roldan works for an executive recruiting company."We are the perpetuators," he says. "We control a lot of the search for the new talent brought on board, and if there are not incentives to do it, it doesn't get done."Specifically, Roldan says that recruiters often ask employers to pay a 40 percent premium to recruit a minority "because they say it's more difficult," a fact that Roldan disputes. As diversity practice leader with Battalia Winston Amrop Hever Group, Roldan says that assertion is just one of the myths that compounds the problem of minorities in the workplace.

Apology For Racism:
By Courtnee Romer -
Nassau, Bahamas:
FREEPORT, Grand Bahama – Director of the One Bahamas Foundation Sir Durward Knowles on Tuesday apologized for the oppression of blacks in The Bahamas, which occurred decades ago.
Sir Durward spoke at a flag-raising ceremony at Independence Park where One Bahamas ceremonies were held after a five-year hiatus.
"Boys and girls, you are living in a great country. I was brought up when white people were in charge of these lands and they treated the black people very badly," Sir Durward said.
"I’m here to apologize on our behalf. Today, we’re living in a great society. We’ve [beaten] all the trials and temptations and now we’re here as one Bahamas," added Sir Durward, who said he was glad that he lived in the time of oppression because he came out better for it.
He said he appreciates all races and it was a blessing to listen to all the performances at the celebration.

The Edwards campaign has been pushing claims of electability for the last several months, most likely to distract potential supporters from his actual weakness in this area. Convincing supporters of the validity of this argument has been one of the few successes of the struggling Edwards campaign. For example, MyDD has a front page story arguing that John Edwards will help us with rural voters.
Before his decision to accept matching funds, along with the spending limitations this requires, there might have been some truth to this. Edwards might have done better than Obama in rural areas and possibly would have done better than Clinton, but his advantages in Iowa are fading. Edwards was also unable to help the ticket in 2004, even in his home state where he was considered to be unable to win reelection to the Senate if he ran.
Even if Edwards could have done better in rural areas with a level playing field, limitations on his spending now make it virtually impossible for him to be comp

Sam Brownback on the right was not scared to debate minority issues in Baltimore and was embarrassed that the other candidates did not show up. Photo by REUTERS. The stage was set for the PBS debate at the historically black Morgan State University in Baltimore, but the four leading Republicans decided they had more important things to do. Rudy Giuliani, Fred Thompson (who has yet to debate), Mitt Romney, and John McCain were all afraid that the forum of journalists would be “too hostel”. The candidates chalked it up to “scheduling conflicts” but the host of the forum was quick to state the real reason at the opening out of frustration. The candidates who did bother to show up were able to reach out to minorities and criticize the other candidates for not being there. Sam Brownback, Mike Huckabee, Ron Paul, Alan Keyes, Tom Tancredo, and Duncan Hunter were all present
The mainstream media, after defaming Bill O’Reilly for attempting to dispel racial stereotypes, is dumbfounded why Republicans skipped the recent Republican debate. The truth is that whenever any white person attempts to speak honestly about race, they are dragged through the mud as a racist. With the exception of Bernard Goldberg, few have been able to do so as eloquently. I digress.Any person who heard the Bill O’Reilly radio conversation with Juan Williams, in context, learned very quickly that the MSM deliberately tried to defame Bill O’Reilly without justification. Then when Juan Williams came to O’Reilly’s defense, CNN shielded themselves behind liberal black activists who in tern attacked Juan Williams. It was beyond deplorable because Bill O’Reilly and Juan Williams were making headway with discussions of racism and stereotypes in America. Sadly, liberals in the MSM attempted to set back any progress that was made.In truth, white Americans are scared to death to spe
ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — The NFL made history last season with two black head coaches in the Super Bowl. A new university report on diversity in sports said Wednesday the league also had a record number of minority assistant coaches. NFL teams had 165 minority assistants in 2006 — a 200 percent increase from 1991, the oldest data researcher Richard Lapchick had. I'm not one to buy into or promote stereotypes which is why when the front running GOP candidates pulled a no show at the NAACP debates I didn't post about it. Additionally when the same candidates blew off the debates hosted by Univision I didn't post about that either. (They also all blew off a conservative Christian forum in Florida around the same time.) However now that they have all opted out of the PBS debates at a historically Black college we officially have the beginning of a pattern. While many may attribute the worst possible motives to this behaviour I see other more likely and more logical reasons.Number one being that by and large the GOP has written black voters off much in the same way the Dems had previously written off the South. Meaning that the numbers have shown that spending time and effort elsewhere turns out a greater number of voters or wins more districts. However in regards to the Hispanic debates I see another motive altogether. Simply put the odds of
There’s a dispute going on over in India in relations to a land bridge Hindus are insisting was built by Lord Ram. In response to the hoopla a few politicians have made smart-ass remarks regarding Lord Ram’s formal education. And much like the Christians here in America, Hindus are claiming they are being victimized by the “micro-minority” of atheists with the author of the linked piece saying the “bullies” ought to be arrested.
And why should they be arrested? Because India has a law that forbids anyone from upsetting religious people:
Meanwhile, someone should read out Section 295 A of the Indian Penal Code to Mr Karunanidhi. It says anyone who, by words or visible representation outrages the religious feelings of any class of citizens “with deliberate and malicious intention” or otherwise “insults or attempts to insult the religion or the religious beliefs of the class”, shall be punished with impri
BBC's Panorama dealt with the DNA database yesterday and this post was intended to be simply a link to the programme - Give us your DNA: Someone is added to the UK DNA database every minute, including people who have not been charged with any offence. And to note that the British database is larger by an order of magnitude than any other in the world - I think it is around 100 times larger (by percentage of the population) than its US equivalent. But I was surprised to learn that two-thirds of the British public is in favour of the project, which stores the DNA of the innocent as well as that of criminals. A specially commissioned opinion poll for Panorama has revealed that two thirds of people would be in favour of a national DNA database. Sixty-six percent of those questioned by ICM said they would approve of a new law requiring all adults to give a sample of their DNA to help with the prevention and detection of crime.>>Technorati tags: DNA; personal information>>IceRocket tags: DN

On the same day the American bald eagle was removed from the endangered species list, a plurality of the Supreme Court replaced the once-threatened eagle with minority children. Their decision in two school cases endangers the well-being of countless children of color nationwide. In the 50th anniversary year of the Little Rock school integration crisis, the Court, by a 5-4 vote, issued a judicial slap in the face to those who, as youngsters, braved howling mobs in Arkansas to make democracy work.Knocking down voluntary plans to promote diversity in their classrooms, a Court plurality dreamingly suggested non-racial plans to cure the schools' racial imbalances. Sadly for the two cities' children -- and for other believers in fairness -- there are no non-racial remedies for racial discrimination. In order to get beyond race, you've got to go to race. To suggest racial neutrality as a remedy is sophistry of the highest sort......Segregated neighborhoods make segregated schools inevitabl
I’m finding this a little hard to believe at this point, but I guess I shouldn’t. According to a press release from CEA Research, only 30 percent of US households own an HDTV at this point.
Astonishing.
The report states that approximately 16 million HD sets will be sold this year, bringing the total number of HDTVs sold in the US to 52.5 million.
Here’s what I find interesting. We HDTV owners are still in the minority here in the US. But, we’re fanatical. CEA states that of that 30 percent, nearly 1/3 own more than one high definition set.
What does that mean? I know that for many people the number one stumbling block to buying an HDTV is the lack of content from providers. Price is not too much of an issue any more with some LCDs and plasma HDTVs now below the $1000 mark. However, most HDTV providers only offer a handful of channels to choose from. I know I only get about 9, not including premium channels like H
Minorities who become citizens of the United States deserve the same benefits given to the rest of the population. One of the benefits they are entitled to are minority government grants. The minority groups that the US government recognizes include, African North Americans, Hispanics, and the Native North Americans. By providing minority government grants many of these people are able to improve their overall quality of life. There are a number of minority government grants available including grants for small business, health care, education, and personal minority government grants.
Personal minority government grants are awarded for things like buying or renovating a house. This may include paying the rent or mortgage. Also personal minority government grants include any assistance with food, clothing, and buying a car.

What’s wrong with the Democratic party? The leaders would have us believe it’s their inability to sucker Christian bigots into voting for them. I disagree. It’s their collective inability to stand up and fight for what they allegedly “value” - even when they’re a damned majority. Over 80 percent of Americans support comprehensive sex education in public schools. So, what do the Democrats in Minnesota do? They strip an education bill of a comprehensive sex education proposal per the demands of the minority Republicans.
In a last-minute piece of strong-arming that went almost unnoticed, Republican Gov. Tim Pawlenty forced DFL leaders of the Legislature to drop a comprehensive and moderate sex-education proposal from the $14 billion education bill that passed on the last day of the 2007 session. The sex-ed proposal — backed by educators and the public — was blocked by the extremist conservative forces that Pawlenty has pandered t

I've been starting to wonder recently if comics today have gone too far in how they feature minority group characters, to the point of where they're only featured as stunt gimmicks, or serve little to no significant purpose beyond their just being.I found this debate panel on Silver Bullet Comics about how to make comics more appealing to minority groups. But here's an even better question: must they? And how do they know that any minority groups are really asking for them to?And if they really have to appeal to minorities, why then does it only have to be according to race? That's the problem, that comic book publishers, in their attempts to reach out to minorities are still only featuring those considered minorities - black, Asian, Latino and caucasian. If they really want to appeal to minorities, not to mention show some creativity, why then can't they start featuring some characters of noteworthy European backgrounds, for example, of Hungarian, Armenian, Latvian, Romanian, Bul
Steven Spielberg's Minority Report (2002) is a great film, a sci-fi action tale with well-drawn characters, exciting plot, and multi-layered story. Tom Cruise plays John Anderton, a near future cop who runs the government's Precrime Department, an experimental program which apprehends criminals before they commit any offense. After being fingered as a soon-to-be killer, Anderton runs.In this scene (one of several fine set pieces), Cruise nabs a stun-gun from a federal stooge stalking him in an auto manufacturing plant. Notice how Spielberg shows us how lame the no-name punching bag reloads versus Cruise when he grabs the thing (revealing how familiar his character is with current weaponry). It's very cool, and reminded me of the classic way the Duke used to re-cock his classic Winchester in a classic western or two.Schwarzenegger used a similar technique in Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991), but Cruise uses finesse and speed to show how fast he can turn the situation to his advantag
Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono says there should be equal rights for his country's ethnic Chinese minority following decades of discrimination. In a speech at a Lunar New Year ceremony the President said all all citizens were equal before the law.He says that means everyone, including those of Chinese descent, has equal rights and responsibilities as Indonesian citizens.Public displays of Chinese culture and religious practices were banned under the three-decade rule of former dictator Suharto, who stepped down in 1998.President Yudhoyono says it is not the time to discriminate against people based on their ethnic group.

Some numbers from Quebec City show that Conservative support there is as strong as ever. It's likely that even if support is down to 12% province-wide, that the Conservatives will keep between 4 and 6 seats. Quebec of course is responsible for all of the Conservative loss since the election, which is a mere 2% according to the latest Ipsos-Reid poll and within the margin of error. The Liberals have gained ground at the expense of the NDP in other areas, particularly Ontario. They could gain a few seats off of that, but the Conservative vote is still solid outside Quebec. It's not as bad as it seems, despite what all the Liberal bloggers want people to think.

Think for a moment about the typical, centrist Canadian. No, that's probably not you or I. We're talking about a middle-class person who lives in the suburbs, maybe with one or two kids. The average Canadian would've picked civil unions over SSM or neither. The average Canadian would discourage abortion but allow it to exist as a necessary yet undesirable option. What kind of Parliament would best represent that average Canadian? I would argue that a strong Conservative minority would be the best.It is clear that the Liberal party has been trying to shed any perception that it may be even slightly centre-right. They care more about NDP votes than Conservative votes. They think that they can scare the centrists who went Conservative in January by calling them "far right-wing". It doesn't help that Dion is firmly on the centre-left.This means that a Liberal minority will not represent the centrist Canadian. The Conservatives would be easily outvoted by a coalition of left-leaning Lib

Fascinating editorial in today's Washington Post by Jennifer Booher-Jennings, a doctoral student at Columbia University which argues that NCLB is actually increasing the gap between whites and minorities:The stakes for schools are enormous. So it isn't surprising that many educators game the system by reaching first for the low-hanging fruit, the students closest to passing. Dubbed the "bubble kids," because their scores put them on the bubble of the passing mark, these students give schools the biggest bang for the buck. In response to this incentive, many schools have rationed out practically all of their resources to these students. Meanwhile, the lowest-performing students, the "hopeless cases," languish. So do their high-performing classmates, who are relegated to the waiting room while the bubble kids are cured. Is she correct? The author states that Charles Murray and the Harvard University Civil Rights Project have come to the same conclusion.
In the US, 49.7 percent of the nation's households are comprised of married couples (see report here) which could actually mean the numbers could drop in the following more years as the singlehood trend and "live-in" partners become a more preferred option in relationships. What does it have to do with the Philippines? Well, we could be next. If the cost of living would to continue to rise, and the gap between the rich and the poor continues to widen, it's certain that a future where wedding is exclusive only to those who can afford is a fact of life. Of course, there are always free mass-weddings around the corner, courtesy of ultra-generous politicians and political figures. Then, perhaps, there should be more free mass weddings in the future where populations will logically multiply. Weddings in those days, thus, will commonly be lacking its exclusivity for the bride and the groom. It's also important to take note that when the demand for career driven professionals in our

Michael Freund is spot on with The straightforward arithmetic of jihad (h/t LGF).It's time we open our eyes and confront reality. Ever since the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, the media has sought to reassure us that only a tiny minority of Muslims actually support the use of violence against Israel and the West. It's just a small fringe, a marginal few at best, they tell us, so don't worry about it all too much. One percent or three percent - who cares? Just sit back, enjoy your morning eggs and coffee and have a nice day. But a look at the numbers tells a very different story. The extent of support for global jihad is frightening in its proportions, and the numbers are anything but insignificant. Consider, for example, the following statistics regarding support for suicide bombings and other types of terror attacks. In a poll conducted five months ago, and broadcast on Britain's Channel 4 TV, nearly 25% of British Muslims
