The Ministry of Education is preparing to unveil a comprehensive plan to address the growing problem of school violence, in light of recent altercations at a junior and senior high school in New Providence.
Though opting not to disclose any detailed information about the plan, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education Elma Garraway, explained that once the information collected by ministry officials, and the resulting solutions to the problem leads to actual policy, the ministry would reveal its plans in full detail.
"We have our solutions and when they are all consolidated, and we have a policy agreement as to where we are to go, we will announce it," Garraway said.

The Criminal Corruption Court here Monday handed down a jail sentence of two years on former Justice and Human Rights Mnistry secretary general Zulkarnain Yunus for corruption. Zulkarnaen Yunus was found guilty of corruption in the procurement of an automatic fingerprint identification system (AFIS) which caused a loss of Rp6.4 billion to the state. Besides Zulkarnaen, the court also sentenced to three years the AFIS project chief, Apendi, who was also head of the ministry`s logistics affairs.The judge said an aggravating factor in Zulkarnaen`s case was that he was a justice and human rights ministry official with a good knowledge of the law. We began our day today by doing some ministry in an English classroom at Hannam University - a campus that practically shares a backyard with Daejeon Central Baptist Church. One of our interpreters is an English professor there and he was able to get us an audience with one of the classes for a 50-minute block. Dad shared his testimony and it was one of the best I've ever heard him share, especially in a small classroom setting like that. I could tell the students were engaged and hanging on every word. Then I shared a bit of my testimony and played a couple of songs for them. It was really funny because as soon as I mentioned I was married, a gasp rose up among the students as if to say, "You're way too young to be married." Then I gave them the kicker. I told them I had two children and their jaws about hit the floor. It's not untypical to find 25 and 26-year old college students in Korea, so they were basically bumm-fuzzled (I've been waiting to use that) when I broke th

The Ministry of Tourism and Aviation has assured Ebony Pyramid Entertainment, the group whose annual party was "raided" by police two weeks ago, that it does not condone discrimination of any form, following claims that the homosexual community was being targeted.
In a letter addressed to the executive director of Ebony Pyramid Entertainment DaJuan Xavier, the ministry expressed regret that the group's visit to the Bahamas "included an incident which involved the Royal Bahamas Police Force."
"Certainly you know from your previous visits that we are happy to welcome the millions of guests who visit each year and we are especially delighted when persons, as you and your clients do, return year after year," said the letter, signed by Tourism Director General Vernice Walkine.
