      Venta splendour at Mijas-Golf
In my mind there are two types of venta – those which suffer identity crises, and should really be something else like, perhaps stables, or somebody´s front room, and those which are proper ´ventas´, and may be basic on the inside, but serve quality food at fantastic prices. Venta la Morena and Hoyo 19, both on [...]

      Mijas Pueblo
Andalucia is full of fascinating white washed villages that adorn the area from Almeria - Cadiz on the coast and to Seville Jaen and Cordoba to the north. One of the most famous and popular of these is Mijas Pueblo. Nestled in the mountains this stunning little town looks down over the coastal resort of Fuengirola and in the distance Benamadena and Torremolinos.. For many years Mijas has been a popular excursion for holiday makers wanting to escape the husssle and bustle of the beach resorts of the Costa del Sol. It has despite this onslaught of modern tourism been able to retain its charm that makes this little gem so special In recent years the town has become increasingly popular with foreign residents choosing this quiet little corner of Spain as their new home and the population has swelled to over 7,500. In response to this the Town Hall has set up a very helpful Foreigner’s Department who are on hand to assist the non Spanish speaking residents and visitors. The narrow

Costa del Sol Golf Courses – Mijas Golf
Mijas Golf is one of the most popular golf complexes on the coast with two contrasting 18-hole courses, Los Lagos and Los Olivos, both of which have been designed by Robert Trent Jones. Los Lagos Los Lagos, which opened in 1976, is the older of the two courses and is characterised by its wide fairways and large greens. It is also one of the flattest courses in the area. Los Lagos takes its name from the eight lakes which are a major hazard on many of the holes. There are several sand traps to contend with as well. The course does feel very open though, due to the scarcity of rough and lack of trees, so it tends to favour the bigger hitter. Los Lagos is one of the busiest courses on the coast and is particularly popular with holiday golfers. Los Olivos Los Olivos is very different to Los Lagos, with much tighter fairways, smaller greens and far fewer water hazards. The course is also more undulating and is considered to be the most challenging of the two. It takes its name from the many
