      An Almost Midweek Roundup.
Something I’ve discovered recently is just how popular the word “thong” is as a search term. It seems it’s guaranteed to attract a few hits, at least. With this in mind, I will from now on be dropping the word thong into my posts wherever possible. Be warned! Seriously, though, there are a few things pending [...]

      bikini club - midweek update
A quick update this week.I am glad to report that today, for the first time, coming back home from work and thinking about stopping at the bakery for some fresh bread to have for dinner, I decided instead to just go home and have my whole wheat bread. So far I had only eaten the whole wheat bread for breakfast, after I finally made the switch from frozen waffles (yuck!) to English muffins first, a

Inspiration, Motivation, Drive: without these we don't get too far in life.So what keeps me going after 20 minutes of intense exercise when my heart is pumping hard and I know that I still need to work out at least 10 more minutes (but I am so ready to take a 6 hours break)?Yesterday it was these dresses by Bebe that kept me going.I really want one of them, and I want to look good when I wear it (

Calling all Bikini Club's participants: please post a comment with your progress.Remember that we are trying to motivate each other, and if we don't communicate much, then people might start to think that everyone has given up...Well, I haven't.I have been good with food, eating better and better; I look forward to my exercises, and I've been pampering myself a lot more than I had done in a long time. As a matter of fact, yesterday I gave myself a treat for sticking to the plan: a 90 minutes professional massage. :)The only battle I am having a hard time winning is against soda. I have been drinking less of it, but it still has a strong grip on me. If you are also trying to quit, or to reduce the amount of soda you drink, take a look at this interesting article on how to quit soda. And if

      Midweek crisis #2
After five years of good bumps, I am finally selling my Palio. We will most likely buy that awful looking Swift. It seems to be extremely popular for a big-bottomed car (you'd think that with such a big butt, there'd be lots of boot space). Then again, our roads are filled with Wagon Rs and Santros. If we had any taste in cars, we'd have banned the Qualis ages ago. The problem is that we just don't

I have been exercising like never before: regularly and with a passion. :)Yesterday I started with cardio and getting the whole body going for about 10 minutes, then I worked 10 minutes on the arms, lifting some small weights. At this point I was tired and I couldn't do my whole 20 minutes abs routine, but I still did half of it.And then - yes there is more! - I finished with 10 minutes of yoga.It was like I wanted to do more and more, and when a certain part of my body couldn't handle the exercises any longer, I just switched to something different. This approach kept me going longer than usual, and I never got bored. The results are showing and I am very proud of myself. I'm almost tempted to post some pictures... but I won't, not just yet.And if anybody wants to know how this bikini club

Just a quick note to remind you to keep up the good work!Today, as I was exercising with my abs video, I was able, for the first time, to finish the whole 20 minutes of it! Yay! :)And I have actually lost 2 lbs. without wanting to.There will be a new drill on Sunday, and some firm restrictions, as two foods are going to become a once in a while treat. Bye bye!We will also explore the difference between white flour and whole wheat.Lastly, I found this picture and I couldn't believe she ever looked this good. I have a post planned about her (do you know who she is?), where you'll find out that I can't stand her. lolI would like my bikini club girls to check-in and let me know that everything is under control.

Midweek Summary (Not to Be Confused with a Summery Midweek.)
Yesterday I hit 67,000 words with Children of the Resolution so — since my target is 70,000 by the end of the month, a target I’ll easily hit — I took the day off and, this afternoon, we headed out over Helmsley way, coming back through Hutton-le-Hole, Castleton and Commondale. So how is everybody doing so far? I would like to ask you a few questions:1. How much have you changed your eating habits and how?2. Are you taking the time to plan your next meal ahead?3. Do you think you are cheating yourself somewhere? If so, where?4. Are you starting to enjoy exercising, or is it still a big pain?5. Are you noticing any changes in your body? If so, what/where?And these are my answers:1) I am being a lot more careful about what I eat. I am starting to read the labels (I don't usually do it). I am cooking more, even if just very simple meals (two eggs frittata with onions and mushrooms = total cooking time 10 minutes).2) I plan ahead when I do my grocery shopping. If I only buy "healthy" stuff I can't really mess up too much when I cook during the week. And in general, y

They represent different lifestyles. They represent choices. And how much you want to love yourself today, tomorrow and the next day. What I am asking you to do, going forward in our Bikini Club is to remember these two pictures. Midweek Miscellany, Busy Weekday Meals, And Kickin' the Caffeine
One comment that I get quite often from folks about living the meatless life is that they feel that they're just too busy and simply don't have time to cook, so they couldn't possibly go veg*n. I say that's silly. Our lives are just as busy as everyone else's, but somehow we manage to get supper on the table.Like this week. Monday night I had my first yoga class. (And boy, am I sore in places I never even knew I had! Don't let anyone ever tell you that yoga isn't a tough workout. It'll kick your ass from today to tomorrow. Even the end my nose aches, and I don't remember balancing on my face. Maybe I've just been picking it too much.....haha) Anyway, I knew supper had to be over in a hurry. Enter stage left, my trusty slow cooker. Fifteen minutes of prep in the morning, and we came home

THE RAIN AND OTHER MIDWEEK RAMBLING
Well, here I sit in drought ridden Southern California up to our eyeballs in RAIN. We Southern Californians don't see much rain and we are always hoping and praying for it, then we get it and we can't stop Complaining about it. Maybe it is the fact that when we do get it, It comes down in Buckets for days. Of course we DO NOT know how to drive in it either. Our already crowded freeways become waterfilled parking lots. Other than our pool needing to be drained I am thrilled to have the change. Less watering and more growth for the spring. I actually put down some flower seeds in my side garden a few days ago, anticipating the upcoming downpour. Hopefully my whole side yard will have differn't colored Assylum growing around the stone walkway! We are all sick here yet again, Mr. Elij

Next 4 weeks plan, midweek update
My next 4 weeks training plan is shown above. The last months injuries decimated my running training from last month, but I was able to cross train in equal amounts, so I don't feel as though I have lost fitness. My ankle sprain on Saturday kept me off running until tonight, Wednesday. I completed a 9 mile run, in darkness, with no problems. I taped my ankle to protect it, as I knew the first 2 miles were on terribly rough ground. After that I removed the tape, as 70% of the remaining route was on good paths or road. Both feet and ankles felt good throughout the run, so I'm hoping normal service really is resumed this week. This weekend I have a tough test; two back to back 20 milers on Saturday and Sunday. I will probably not do the night run I mentioned in the last post, and just run locally in the day. A night run is asking for trouble with my recent luck with feet and ankles! This month also sees my primary milestone for 2007; The Round Rotherham 50. It is a 50 mile route

Midweek Games Feature Another Goal By Freddy, Few Surprises
With three exceptions, Soccer Source's Top 25 clubs all held serve today. Rather than regurgitate all the results (which you can do yourself) how about focusing on the surprises:#12 Benfica 1, Setubal 2Yes, Freddy Adu scored again for Benfica (but this time it was on a penalty. Still if Freddy is taking their penalties that must be a good sign!) to put the Lisbon club up right before the break, but Setubal came back with two goals in the second half to win the Carlsberg Cup quarterfinal. Here are your YouTube highlights of the match. You want Freddy's stats? Two goals in the last two games, three in the last five, and four in the last eight. I can almost spot a trend...#18 Besiktas 1, Rizespor 2This was a Turkish cup game of some sort. Sorry, that's all I got on this.#22 Celtic 0, Hearts 2These Scottish clubs are hard to pin down. One day they go neck-and-neck with the very best teams in Europe, then they turn around and lose to seemingly mediocre domestic competition. Last week it

      Midweek Menu- Bento Lunchbox
After yesterday’s post about Princess’s 7 cavities, I decided to step up efforts to make her school lunches a little more nutritious. She’s so picky and we’ve been so busy lately that I haven’t had the energy to deal with anything more than her standard pb&j. We did go with “hot lunch” for a week, but I went to school with her for lunch and was horrified with what they are feeding them. Even their pb&j option included a bag of “whale cheddars” that had trans fats. For real. I’ve been on the anti-trans fat wagon for years now and forgot that they even make stuff with it anymore. I usually give her a juice box (100% juice, of course) and a water bottle with a sports top. I explained to her that the juice isn’t good for her teeth and gave her 2 water bottles instead. She wasn’t too upset watching me pack it, but we’ll see what happens when she actually sits down to eat. I haven’t been sending her

I’m at a loss for what to cook tonight for dinner. THE Daddy was supposed to be home, but (shocker!) he’ll be late. I am craving seared tuna in a BIG WAY. The closest and best place to go near us is in Portsmouth and it’s a bit too upscale to bring the kids after a day at school…especially by myself. In lieu of a recipe this week, I’m going to share a new website. Well, it’s new to me, at least. It’s called Open Table. It offers “Restaurant Reservations: Instant, Reliable & Free.” It’s pretty cool, especially if you feel like dining upscale at the last minute.  It’s very user friendly. You’re able to look up restaurants in your area, check out their menus and book reservations right online. I checked my favorite restaurant for Tuna, Jumpin Jays Fish Café, and they have tables available for tonight. Good to know. Too bad I’m not able to go! The best part about Open Table is that they offer Di

Kansas City Wizards at Columbus Crew (Tonight) The Wizards had hoped they would enter this game on top of the league after only ten games, and it seemed like that would be the case late in Saturday’s game against New York at the Meadowlands. Kansas City fell behind 2-0 early on goals from Juan Pablo Angel and Clint Mathis, and only Kevin Hartman’s point blank save on Dave van den Bergh kept it from being a bigger deficit. However, KC came storming back, controlling the play and coming all the way back to take a 3-2 lead thanks to two second half goals from substitute Yura Movsisyan. Then, in the 89th minute, controversy struck when referee Abi Okulaja awarded a penalty to the Red Bulls, and Angel tied the game with his second of the night. The Wizards were clearly annoyed with the call, especially since it is the third penalty called against them in their last two games at the Meadowlands. As for the legitimacy of the call, I’ll let you decide. (around 2:20. No

Midweek update and the weekend plans
A definite improvement with my injury over the last few days. I've continued doing a lot of stretching. My hip is fairly uncomfortable, but that doesn't bother me when I run. It's the other end of my IT band, the knee that I'm being protective of.On Tuesday I did a 5 mile interval session. I'm deliberately doing intervals at the moment so I fully stretch out the muscles. That went well with no knee pain at all. I was due to go to the gym today, but being short of time I did another run. I did a slightly shorter route, at 4 miles, but fairly 'hilly' all off road and rough terrain. It was probably a little too ambitious as my knee did ache a little. You should really avoid routes with hills when recovering from IT Band syndrome. During both routes I stopped a few times to stretch out my IT Band. My time was unimportant; I didn't even take a watch. I just concerned about getting back on schedule now. Doing little runs like this, 4 and 5 miles, almost feels like starti

      Midweek musings
I was really surprised by the number of people interested in the 80's songs yesterday, because the blog received nearly 600 hits, making it the most successful day by far. I thought most people owned several 80's compilation CD containing most of those songs anyway! But apparently that's not the case or people simply wanted to listen to the songs at work? Another 80's soundtrack is in the making. However it was quite a disappointment that hardly anyone had the "courage" to check out some of the lesser known bands mentioned here.Soundvenue reviews debut Everything All The Time by Band Of Horses and gives it 5 (out of 6) stars.Waiting for Peter to mention this song by Bombs Over Berlin, since he's the one who introduced me to the band in the first place. Sorry Peter, but I couldn't wait any longer, because I simply had to recommend this superb and very, very catchy new wave, pop song!+ Love Asylum2 unreleased songs by The Field Mice are available at Myspace.+ I Wish I Meant More To

      Interim result Midweek Football
Some surprises I did not expected :(Superfund lost at home as Bayern did. Luckily both matches are in the same combination. My first combination was also a failure cause Feyenoord is playing extra time at Waalwijk and loosing 3-2.The good news is that Valencia is leading 2-0 at half time, meaning that my third combination still stand. Already ended matches within this combination are Twente, who won against Nijmegen, and Werder, who won away on Nurnberg. This combination pays out 3.19 euros. This means that I won 0.19 euros on my midweek matches. Could be better, could be worse. If we look at the stats, I predicted 6 out of 9 matches correctly. And 5 out of 5 tennis games. As predicted Sharapova won against Clijsters and Kuznetsova won against Dementieva. For the moment Hingis leads 1-0 in sets but Petrova is fighting back and leads 2-1 in the second.Tomorrow the picks for this weekend will be presented! Again I will propose 3 combinations, hopefully with a better profit than this week!Go

      Midweek 20 December 2006
Hi all,My weekend was not so bad but it could have been better if club Brugge hadn't lost . Did not see this one comming. Maybe it wasn't so smart to bet on a derby. It has learned my a lesson, let's see how long I will remeber this. This midweek there is a lot of cup football and in Italy ans Spain a complete match day is played. While Barcelona maybe seems like nice odds I won't play them because of the possible jetlag.Palermo(3) - Ascoli(18) (1.28, 5.00, 14.00) (1/2/0)Ascoli wasn't capable yet of winning away from home and this will not change this match day. Palermo won 6 of their 8 last home games and lost the other 2. Palermo should have problems with Ascoli.Real Madrid(3) - Recreativo de Huelva(8) (1.30, 4.75, 10.50) (1/0/0)If Real wins they will be at least one calendar day in front of rval Barcelona. This will motivate them enough to go for the win. After some lousy home games, Real now has a nice streak of 4 home wins in a row and they are going to extend this streak.Sev

What I did yesterday:Had a good day at work; attended a cardio kickboxing class at Equinox with one of my bosses; sat in the steam room even though I forgot my flip flops (I hope I didn't catch plantar warts); watched "Sex and the City" on TBS; received photos of my cousin's wedding in the Philippines and wished I could have been there; drank a glass of wine; got in bed by 11 p.m. and began a new book: Tales from the Bed: On Living, Dying and Having It All, a memoir by Jenifer Estess as told to Valerie Estess. What I did today:Woke up before my alarm went off at 6 a.m.; fell in a man's lap when the train lurched on the tracks; read the newest issue of one of our company's magazines, which doesn't hit newsstands until March; stepped out of the office for lunch for the first time in two weeks; attended mass for Ash Wednesday and walked around the city with black ashes on my forehead; decided that I am going to give up Starbursts for Lent; returned home to receive my groceries from Fr
