It took me awhile to get the second part of this. It was originally scheduled to go up over the weekend, but no dice. Then the last two weeks I planned on getting up, but MLB All-Star festivities on TV put a damper on that, including the five plus hour All-Star game last night. Oh well, you should be out enjoying the summer weather instead of reading this damn blog anyway. Speaking of which, I'm
Carnival season is upon us once again. Z and I visited our first carnival of the year a few weeks back and will be visiting our second this coming weekend. Thus, it seems time to refresh the memories of all those ‘big strapping’ men out there looking to win the affection of [...]
Z and I made our first joint trek to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk last weekend. I’ve been unable to afford to renew our season passes yet, so it was a games only day (oh and Z finally got her first deep fried twinkie - she liked it ). Sometime over the [...]

All three games are slated for release before the end of the year.Blitz: The League II will be released on all three consoles--PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii--simultaneously. Of all the games I’d expect to see the SDK bring, owing to the impractical nature of the user interface for such things, a beat-em-up would have suffered a place on my list somewhere slightly below sea level. Rumour has it, however, that Midway doesn’t share my incredulity on the subject of such a [...]
Game synopsis :
Battlestations: Midway is set in the Pacific Theater of Operations during World War II. In the single-player campaign, you play as Henry Walker, a Navy recruit who shows up at Pearl Harbor just in time for the Japanese attack in December, 1941. From there, your skills as a commander are put to the test in historical battles such as the Battle of the Coral Sea and, eventually, the
Midway CEO David Zucker bid his fledgling firm farewell today, making him just one of many executives who have left the company in recent months.Midway makes a Booty callAnother high level executive has jumped ship from struggling publisher Midway for the unnamed greener pastures of "anywhere else but here."Today's resignation, announced indirectly via a Midway statement on the hiring of a new CEO, was offered by (now) former CEO David F. Zucker. There was no word from Midway on how the turnover might affect current projects, if at all.Zucker joins VP, CFO, and Treasurer Thomas Powell, and Senior Marketing VP Steve Allison, who both resigned from the publisher back in January. The departures have left a vacuum at the top that board members scrambled to fill today. That filler? Seventeen ye

OK, you listened to some music and had a few dances with your girlfriend, now it's time to get her home. So you hop on your scooter and off you go. Those were some pretty fun times.
You decide to impress her, so you take her to the fair, walk along the midway to find a game you're good at so you can win her that big stuffed animal she said she wanted. No problem. You knock a few bottles off a stool and she picks out the big stuffed panda. You go ahead and try a few more throws and win again! This time she picks out that really nice music box.
Maybe now she just might return the favor and tuck away for Christmas that cool phonograph you've had your eye on!

A quick recap:
In Carnival Midway Games Revealed (Part One) I gave my credentials and revealed the “secrets” behind winning some midway classics: Ladder Climb, Machine Gun Star, Basketball, Balloon Darts, Test Of Strength, Speed Throw and the Chicken Catapult. I also addressed the reasons that very few, if any, carnival games are rigged these days, befriending carnies, and choosing where to play.
In this installment I’ll cover some more general tips as well as covering another half dozen or so games. I’ve also got a request for y’all, at the end. First some basics:
If you can flirt, you may not even need to win. True carnies spend a lot of time on the road. The majority of the men feel they’re quite good with the ladies. They also know, from experience, that a well-placed “winner” may very well get them some company for the evening. If you want that teddy bear bad enough, flirting just may work. Whether you follow through or not
Men spend countless dollars every summer in (usually) vain attempts to prove their manhood by winning a prize for their girlfriend, wife or child(ren) at the local amusement park, county fair or traveling carnival. Balls are thrown, guns are shot, and rings are tossed all in an attempt to be ‘the hero’. Well, as a former carny who spent years on the road with the Butler Brothers, I’m here to give you a few tips, save you a little cash, and maybe even help you look like the ‘man’ you want your loved ones to believe you are.
First, the basics:
Few, if any, carnivals still “rig” their games. There simply is no need. The odds are already stacked in the operator’s favor, just as they are in the casinos. The prizes are so cheap when purchased wholesale and the games so challenging, that cheating simply isn’t necessary.
The ’smaller’ the business behind the carnival the more difficult the games will be to win. In other wo
Ok, so it's not entirely mid-way, but I thought that with the current 'lull' in proceedings between the Alps, which ended yesterday, and the first individual time-trial and Pyrenees coming up on the weekend, it would be a good chance to cast a 'physiological' eye over the race and give some impressions. It's been a frantic few days of racing. It's quite evident that we are watching one of the most wide-open Tours in recent times. The same was said about last year's race, but this is something else. On Saturday, Sunday and yesterday, all the Alps stages, at least four or five different riders all launched multiple attacks - gone are the days of one definitive attack from an Armstrong or Pantani and the group was split - this is real racing. It's interesting to speculate on the physiological basis for this. A big factor is the absence of a strong, dominant team, riding hard tempo to the bottom of the climbs. In the past, this has allowed Armstrong to put his opponents into

One again The Saints of Pain put on a show like nobody else can. Tuesday night they played at club Midway. It was our first time there, and they crowd was willingly waiting to hear what the saints had to bring to them; they did not disappoint. The club was a very decent sized club, and the same can be said of the stage. That night we definitely made the bouncer work for his money. Not because there were fights, but because the droves of fans that came to see the saints play. We all gathered at the front of the club chatting with one another waiting for whatever other band playing to get the fuck off the stage. The poor bouncer had to keep on telling us not to block the entrance, or to move to the side... he had no idea of the power of the Saints of Pain. As the saints were setting up the stage, all of us went inside to anxiously await the mayhem they would bring to this new crowd. It was amazing to see the fans getting ready as well. You couldn't miss it and it would be hard to expla

Battlestations midway is a mix of a strategy and action game. The strategy game aspect of the game works and plays very well, while the action can be very dependent on which vehicle you decide to pilot. This game isn’t for anybody, but is definitely a title that stands out and plays different from...

Battlestations: Midway is the best truly 3D RTS I’ve ever played, and succeeds in taking a normally boring genre - naval combat - and turning it into something that gets your adrenaline levels up. Yes, in real life, naval combat is all about 5-ton lumps of mashed potatoes and trying not to sit next to the boy or girl that you’re in love with. Naval combat is about being bored, all of the time, unless you are in danger of dying in one of the more painful ways possible (drowning, burning, getting impaled by burning metal while drowning, etc.) I suppose that’s why Captain Walker is so pissed off.
And he’s not pissed off in some pansy-assed “god-can-hear-me-cuss” sort of way. Sounding less like a bosom addicted 40’s huckleberry and more like a jaded suburbanite, Walker appears tough while still being gracious towards the apparently genteel Japanese Empire.
It should have been predictable that - at some point - a WWII game focused on the Pacif
