Even the NY Times can’t ignore it.
BAGHDAD — Iraqi forces rolled unopposed through the huge Shiite enclave of Sadr City on Tuesday, a dramatic turnaround from the bitter fighting that has plagued the Baghdad neighborhood for two months, and a qualified success for Prime Minister Nuri Kamal al-Maliki.

I'll cover the voting in hour one and three tonight with Politico.com's Mike Allen and NationalReview.com's Jim Geraghty among others, and will have Michael Yon on in hour two to discuss his new book, Moment of Truth in...
Dear friends,Our soldiers are turning defeat and disaster into victory and hope. But we could still fumble—if the American people don’t hear the truth now. There remain serious perils in Iraq and this is a time for action. Please help me get out the truth about what our soldiers are accomplishing in Iraq by helping to get 'Moment of Truth in Iraq' stocked in bookstores, and especially in free
"Let's 'Surge' Some MoreBy MICHAEL YONApril 11, 2008; Page A17It is said that generals always fight the last war. But when David Petraeus came to town it was senators – on both sides of the aisle – who battled over the Iraq war of 2004-2006. That war has little in common with the war we are fighting today.I may well have spent more time embedded with combat units in Iraq than any other journalist alive. I have seen this war – and our part in it – at its brutal worst. And I say the transformation over the last 14 months is little short of miraculous. The change goes far beyond the statistical decline in casualties or incidents of violence. A young Iraqi translator, wounded in battle and fearing death, asked an American commander to bury his heart in America. Iraqi special forces unit
~Snooper~Three posts, one of which I have already posted on but, so what?Color of War...scads of great pics in this one...The main reason we are beating al Qaeda in Iraq is that we are winning on the moral front. They landed, checked things out, found nothing suspicious, and left the people alone.Read those words from Michael Yon a few times and let i sink in for a bit and then never ever forget them as long as you live. The picture is one of many. The Troops were in two Blackhawks on patrol and spotted a large group of men. They circled and swooped in and investigated. The Troops found nothing suspicious so they left. Al Qaida would have killed them all. Our Troops did their jobs and left them alone seeing that they were no danger or threat. Amazing. Troops with personal and profes
~Snooper~Stake through Their Hearts; Killing al QaedaThe above is the reporting from the war fronts in Iraq from Michael Yon that the Lame Stream Media shamefully will not report because it is not politically expedient to do so. They would "Rather" print material that would shed a negative light on the situation in Iraq for sinister purposes. We have seen in the recent past that the progressive blogs and news reports actually rejoice when something bad happens in the GWOT. I can just imagine them clapping their scrawny claws together in blissful glee. We see their kind at "peace" rallies which are nothing of the sort.A snippet from Hero Michael Yon:[...] Nineveh in late March 2008There are no guarantees, but this could be the endgame for major combat operations in Iraq. Combat is likely
Another AWESOME article from Michael Yon with pictures and accurate reporting on the real story coming out of Iraq. Instead of the mainstream media reaching desperately for an sign of bad news, we have the real journalists who don’t get as much press like Michael Yon and Michael Totten. These men, for months have been [...]
Michael Yon may not wear "the uniform" any longer but, he wears it just the same now, as he did then. He has been on CNN forcing the Lame Stream to report the Good News that the Leftinistra find revolting and distasteful...it doesn't fit their anti-Americanist views. Too bad and so sad...no?CBN has the audio from Iraq. And the ilk of the KOSmonoffs, shake their tiny fists.
October 28, 2007 -- This week, the U.S. announced that military deaths in Iraq had fallen dramatically, to the lowest levels since March 2006, a sign that the surge of troops is working. Officers say increased cooperation from Iraqi civilians - who are tired of the terrorism and violence - has helped stem attacks.
Three Marks on the HorizonAugust 13, 2007Almost everyone (by now) must have heard about the lazy Iraqi parliament members who, like so many Neros fiddling while Rome burns around them, are taking a month off. Yet comparatively few Americans will ever hear or read about IA Scorpion Company Commander Captain Baker; or Iraqi entrepreneur and community catalyst, Tonto; or the Mayor of Baqubah, who summoned the courage to step out of the shadow of al Qaeda and fight to get his constituents a warehouse-sized stockpile of food.False advertising is afoot. I write these words from Indonesia, soaking wet, having just returned from photographing rice paddies in a pouring rain, wearing a Florida Gators shirt. That means there is a green alligator on my chest. While supporting my team, my shirt perpetuates the myth that alligators are green, when in fact they are black when wet, gray when dry.The mantra that there is no political progress in Iraq is rapidly becoming the surge equiva
Michael Yon is a journalist that has been embedded with numerous units in Iraq. Ive reposted his stories here before and the stories he tells will never be seen in the mainstream media. The Democrats and the media have worked diligently together to paint Al Qaeda not as murdering terrorists but somehow as freedom fighters for Iraq. I have even seen liberals go so far as to equate them to the Americans that fought the British for independence. In this story Al Qaeda are revealed for the brutal murdering psychopaths that they are. They tortured and killed people in front of their own family members and beheaded the children. Think about that last part of the sentence for just a minute. What sort of person would not just kill children so callously but do it by beheading? Michael Yon tells about an entire village killed by Al Qaeda then booby trapped with IEDs to kill American soldiers. Some of the IEDs were big enough to destroy tanks. There are a number of photos at the original st
Michael Yon Online Magazine article link Be Not Afraid You shall cross the barren desert, but you shall not die of thirst. You shall wander far in safety though you do not know the way. You shall speak your words in foreign lands and all will understand. You shall see the face of God and live.Be not afraid.I go before you always;Come follow me, and I will give you rest.[From a prayer card I found on a base in Anbar Province, Iraq.]Thoughts flow on the eve of a great battle. By the time these words are released, we will be in combat. Few ears have heard even rumors of this battle, and fewer still are the eyes that will see its full scope. Even nowthe battle has already begun for somepractically no news about it is flowing home. Ive known of the secret plans for about a month, but have remained silent. This campaign is actually a series of carefully orchestrated battalion and brigade sized battles. Collectively, it is probably the largest battle since major hostilities ended mo
Check this out from Michael Yon : Online Magazine Mystery Weapon #2: Experts Only The jury is . . . out. “What in the world is this?” That sentence was translated into “Mystery Weapon Found in Iraq.” The “mystery weapon” characterization packed pizzazz, but the words were not mine. Had the “mystery weapon” been found somewhere other than Mosul, Iraq alongside 27 surface-to-air missiles, anti-tank mines, RPGs, blasting caps and tons of other munitions, the weapon likely would have been dismissed. If loaded words were not ricocheting around the world about Iranian weapons being found in Iraq, the “mystery weapon” depicted in a photograph taken back in 2005 would likely garner attention more commensurate with its size and lethality, or lack thereof. I wrote about the night it was captured and destroyed as part of an enormous weapons and explosives cache in “The Devil’s Foyer.” Amid all the rockets and prefabbed IEDs—some bombs were cast into concrete to
