As the bloody Democratic battle continues to wage, candidate Barack Obama continues to pick up endorsement jewels for his "King Liberal" crown.Film maker Michael Moore, who praises Cuba's communist-controlled dilapidated health care system over the advanced system available in America, has said that he originally intended to remain neutral in the Democratic primary. Activist and documentary filmmaker Michael Moore has today endorsed Barack Obama for President, taking a swipe at Hillary Clinton in the process saying her "actions and words...have gone from being merely disappointing to downright disgusting."On Moore's website, he said that the final straw was the ABC debate last week.

The Weinstein Co are re-releasing Michael Moore’s Sicko this weekend and I can totally understand why. The re-release will give American audiences one more chance to catch the most amazing documentary on the big screen.
Moore will also be making another appearance on Oprah to follow up on his appearance from months ago. Moore’s first Sicko appearance on the show caused Oprah to become inundated with letters from viewers who wanted to share their own health care horror stories. Below are a few production photos from Michael Moore's documentary "Captain Mike Across America" about the Slacking Uprising tour of 2004, which is set to premiere at the Toronto Film Festival.Captain Mike Across America takes us back to the 2004 election, when the polling margin between candidates George W. Bush and John Kerry could have tipped either way. Framed like a concert film, it captures Moore’s activities as he set out on a campaign trip almost as rigorous and far-reaching as the candidates’ own. He targeted young people as the demographic that could make the most difference, visiting sixty-two cities in forty-five days, and holding large rallies on college campuses. He dubbed it the Slacker Uprising Tour. This documentary of his journey is made in the feisty spirit of independent media, budgeted at a tiny fraction of Moore’s recent films. It acts like a time machine, returning us to the weeks prior to the November 2, 2004, election, when campuses across the country we

Shooting Michael Moore
C-Spans’ Brian Lamb interviews writer/director about Shooting Michael Moore on Sunday July 29 at 5PM & 8PM (PST): - A biting, colorful expose of renowned filmmaker -
Davison, MI – July 26, 2007 - Kevin Leffler is a friendly, CPA, tenured assistant professor, and founder of an educational non-profit, who is a life-long resident of Davison, Michigan. Leffler lives outside of Flint, Michigan, Michael Moore’s purported ‘home town.’ That Leffler elected to finance and create a documentary about his old high school and work buddy Michael embraces a rare sort of poetic justice.
Leffler’s Shooting Michael Moore reveals another side of Moore. We learn that while writing books and shooting films that expose America’s inequities and presenting himself as a moral compass, he abused the non-profit status, engaged in questionable tax practices, violated environmental laws, and invested in Halliburton, oil stocks, leading drug companies, and HMO-chains. If you want to find the real story of Canada’s failed Universal Healthcare system, look no further than America’s boarder cities. The Buffalo News just reported a story about, Lindsay McCreith, a 66 year-old Canadian retired auto body shop owner. This story, accurately reported by Henry L. Davis, demonstrates why Michael Moore’s new propaganda film, “Sicko” is patently misleading.McCreith experienced seizures on Jan. 2, 2006, and was diagnosed with a benign tumor based on a CT scan. A physician at a Canadian hospital declined to order an MRI to rule out a malignancy. McCreith’s family doctor agreed to request the more-definitive scan, but McCreith was told he would have to wait over four months for the appointment.According to McCreith, had he been patient and followed the Canadian system, he would have died. Instead, McCreith went to Buffalo to receive treatment the very next day. In Buffalo, he was told he had a malignant tumor, which required a biopsy. After tryin
BURBANK, Calif., July 26 (UPI) — Michael Thursday said the Bush administration has served him with a subpoena regarding his trip to Cuba during the making of his new film, “Sicko.”
The Oscar-winning filmmaker, who appeared Thursday on NBC’s “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” said he was notified about the subpoena at the network’s studios in Burbank, Calif.
“I haven’t even told my own family yet,” Moore said. “I was just informed when I was back there with Jay that the Bush administration has now issued a subpoena for me.”
Moore filmed the trip as part of his film comparing the U.S. healthcare system with government healthcare systems in other countries.

Paul Howard opines in the Washington Post A Story Michael Moore Didn’t Tell:
Michael Moore’s Sicko is now in national release, chock full of anecdotes and scare stories denigrating American health care in favor of the United Kingdom, Canada and even Cuba. But Moore ignores the fact that our greater commitment to market-driven medical innovation makes miracles possible for patients with the most deadly and rare diseases, like cancer.
Don’t you just love watching the PR/lobby industry at play? You know they are going to win, the only question is: By what means?
When you’re a broke college student, anytime you can go to the movies for free is good.
So here’s a free download of Michael Moore’s “Sicko.” It was leaked online, and because Moore feels so strongly about everyone seeing this movie, he’s not prosecuting anyone who downloads it.
And when you’re on that website, it has links to the free viewers that you can download too to watch it, so it’s like a two-fer on this sucker.
Now you’ll excuse me, I need to make me some popcorn…

Michael Moore’s latest documentary Sicko is causing much stir in the mainstream press. As expected, media outlets including CNN have come out with reports that Moore has exaggerated or all-out “fudged” the facts. Not taking the criticisms lightly, Moore has released a “point-by-point obliteration” of the CNN reports geared to buttress the credibility of the film.If you haven’t yet seen Sicko, I highly recommend it. Even though I don’t agree with his solution, Moore has put together an excellent portrayal of what is wrong with health care in the United States. Sicko is one of the BEST films I have ever seen, and I’m thrilled that he’s not taking the mainstream press’ criticisms sitting down. What is the solution to the current health care disaster? Going back to natural healing that treats the cause of disease, not the symptoms -- and, of course, taking responsibility for your own health.AlterNet July 10, 2007
CNN ran a story trying to discredit Michael Moore's latest political documentary, Sicko. They then made the mistake of inviting him onto the show for a rebuttal. Wolf Blitzer received the full hit, thankfully. Here is the initial story:And Moore's response, which I saw on rerun earlier this morning:While Michael Moore's arrogance and in-your-face attitude is offputting to some, you can't help but love when he tells Blitzer and the media at large to stop lying to the American public and to tell the truth. I haven't seen Sicko, nor will I support or refute any claims made by the movie but I do wish the media would start telling the unbiased truth.
As I have mentioned before, I worked in the health care field for many years and can attest to the fact that the health care system is broken. Take a look at this video when CNN attempts the tired 'hit piece' that proceeds the interview with Michael Moore. Not taking this lying down, Moore turns the tables and shows the true face of the so-called mainstream media.
I am quite certain it comes as no surprise to anyone that, being a bat ass crazy libertarian, I do not warmly embrace Michael Moore's message in Sicko, that the solution to our fucked up medical system is to give more money to the fine people in Washington DC, and let them make us healthy. But I do have to wonder how ANYONE can seriously take health advise from one of the most disgusting lardos to currently walk the face of the earth.PETA president Ingrid Newkirk brought this up in an open letter to Mr. Moore. Of course, since she is the president of PETA, she did not have any problem with the heart rendering propagandist style of the documentary, but she does politely ask whether there might not be an elephant in the room.By using this simile she is referring to the artery clogged film director. And I do think it is not a very nice way to talk about one of our animal friends. I also think she might have gone overboard in pumping up tubby's ego, by praising the good work he is doing

Michael Moore did some research wok for his new documentary about US medical system. At the end of research, he becomes eager to lose his extra weight and was able to lose 30 pounds of his weight in just three months time (From sfgate.com).
He himself admits that he looked like a hypocrite and was thinking of creating a documentary for US health system without thinking about his own health.
Is it wrong that I am SO attracted to this movie? The only joke they didn't pull was Canadian health care...which would have put it over the edge. I'm dying to see this movie even though Fahrenheit 9/11 was a bit overrated. Michael Moore isn't my favorite, by any means, but its about time the Health Care industry came under scrutiny!Special nod to the choice of song. "Street Fighting Man" by the Rolling Stones. Thank god someone knows that song besides me.

I was listening to an interview with Michael Moore today on the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation Radio Network (CBC Radio-1) and he made a statement that I hadn't really thought about before, but once I heard it, I fully agreed with him!(He was talking about his new movie "Sicko" which had it's North American Premier here in London last Friday.) During the filming of the movie, he took a man whose fingers had been accidentally cut off down to Cuba, and the medical system there re-attached his fingers for him ..... where it would have cost him tens of thousands of dollars to have it done in the U.S. without private insurance.Universal Health Care and the responsibility of the Government is what the movie explores! But, aside from the problems with health care in the States, (among other things)he made this comment; "It's so nice to be in a country where you are free, rather than having to look over your shoulder all the time like back home in the States."When asked what he meant, Mr.
Michael Moore hits Clinton in 'Sicko' - The PoliticoExcerpt:"Moore's brief political history of American health care policy at first seems to lavish praise on Clinton, if with a satirical, and gendered, edge. (She's introduced as "Sassy...smart...sexy.")But his conclusion is that she sold out. After her defeat in the first Clinton term, he says, she fell silent on the issue. And "for her silence, Hillary was rewarded. And she has been the second-largest recipient in the Senate of healthcare industry contributions."The movie, which like most of his movies, is powerfully made, will probably drive some debate on the issue when it's released at the end of this month. It's basically a commercial for Western Europe, with an over-the-top ode to Cuba tacked onto the end. And Moore isn't personally in sympathy with any of the Democrats."http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/0607/Michael_Moore_hits_Clinton_in_Sicko.htmlAlex
Michael Moore is set to appear on the Oprah Winfrey show today to discuss his new film, Sicko. Moore has drawn criticism for his actions in the film which will be released this month on June 29th. In Sicko, Moore takes a number of 9/11 relief workers to Cuba to receive health care. These workers have suffered from a number of severe respiratory and other problems without U.S. government support for their needs. Aside from the typical Moore flair, the film will discuss and highlight the shortcomings of the American healthcare system. Moore will show some clips for the film on the Oprah Winfrey show. Here is the official trailer for the movie:
Michael Moore’s new movie Sicko that is set for release on the 29th June will show for the first time on TV scenes from the movie. He will show these scenes on Oprah’s show on the 5th June. Oprah will interview Moore, about the film that she says, “The one film you must see this summer.”
Oprah loved the movie Sicko, and has gave it her full backing as she feels that health care should be available for all. With someone like Oprah behind Moore, there will be no stopping the success of this film.

Michael Moore is lying again!? Im shocked (Not!)I have friends in a number of other countries and almost all of them seem to think half of the population in America can't get health care. Many of them fail to make the distinction between uninsured and unable to get health care and obviously it is a huge difference. Technically my mother is uninsured yet she receives excellent medical care that costs here almost nothing via the Medi-Care system. Most of the time she pays partial cost for prescriptions and that is about it. People intentionally do not make the distinction between uninsured and unable to get care and Micheal Moore glossing over the difference doesnt surprise me in the least. I have been with managed health care for over 20 years. My employer has changed providers a number of times but I have been with the same medical group the entire time. The only time I have had to change doctors was when one retired and another passed away. So in 20+ years I am on my third conse
Photography experts say that have conclusive proof that the widely seen image is not, in fact, that of a giant hog, but of a boy posing next to an oblivious Michael Moore.
When confronted, the boy explained that he and a friend were hiking when they decided to take a shortcut across the exclusive Alabama golf resort, Piney Hills. "They usually don't let my kind walk around here so I was doing some sneaking when I ran into this big fella ten toes up and sleeping like a baby. I had my buddy take out the camera his ma gave him and take a picture. We didn't mean no harm."
Suspicion was first raised among forensic photographers when a computer enhancement revealed the alleged hog had a baseball cap around the side of his head. "We were pretty convinced at first until we got to the top. We said, "hey! hogs don't wear caps." The photographers went on to explain that they didn't discover the hoax sooner because the cap was partially hidden by a ham sandwich.

IS all that ails the US health-care system that it's not run by a communist dictatorship? That has long been a premise of apologists for Fidel Castro who extol the virtues of medical care on his totalitarian island nation.
Left-wing documentary filmmaker Michael Moore is reviving this Cold War relic of an argument in his new movie on health care, Sicko, which premieres in a few weeks and favourably compares the Cuban health care system with the US one. Moore ostentatiously took a few sick 9/11 workers to Cuba for care. "If they can do this," Moore told Time magazine, referring to the Cubans, "we (Americans) can do it."
All that the Cuban Government has done, however, is run a decades-long propaganda campaign to convince credulous or dishonest people that its health-care system is worth emulating.
These people believe - or pretend to believe for ideological reasons - that a dictatorship can crush a country's economy and spirit, yet still deliver exemplary medical care.

HAVANA - Cuba characterized American filmmaker Michael Moore as a victim of censorship and the U.S. trade embargo as it reported Friday on a U.S. Treasury Department probe of his March visit here for his upcoming health-care documentary, "Sicko." The Communist Party daily Granma called the 45-year-old U.S. travel and trade sanctions "a criminal action that has cost lives and grave consequences for the inhabitants of the island," as well as Americans. The U.S. government‘s targeting of Moore "confirms the imperial philosophy of censorship" by American officials, it added. Treasury officials in Washington said Friday they would have no comment on the contents of Moore‘s letter, citing a policy against discussing specific investigations. But Treasury spokeswoman AnnMarie Hauser said OFAC issues hundreds of letters each year asking for additional information when possible sanctions violations have occurred. "I understand why the Bush administration is coming after me — I have tried

Gee, I wonder if Castro went out of his way for the first-responders or if he made them wait in line like the other Cubans. Idiot.
Film director Michael Moore has taken Ground Zero responders to Cuba for medical treatment in a bid to show that Fidel Castro's socialized medicine is better than health care in the U.S., the New York Post reports.
The director of "Roger & Me" and "Fahrenheit 9/11" took the responders to Cuba as part of his latest film, "Sicko," which examines American drug companies.
The move has angered some who say that Moore is using the ailing Ground Zero workers as "pawns."
"He's using people that are in a bad situation and that's wrong; that's morally wrong," Jeff Endean, a former SWAT commander from Morris County, N.J., who spent a month at Ground Zero and suffers from respiratory problems, told the New York Post.
But others say the workers were pleased with their Cuban visit.

Michael Moore has taken some of the first responders of 9/11 to get healthcare from Cuba.
Moore’s new documentary, and I use that term loosely, is his attempt to show how much better Cuba’s health-care system is than our’s.This is an attempt by him to show how much better life would be under socialist rule. These liberals are nothing more than socialists at heart and this is more proof. They don’t believe Americans can make it on their own and that they need government intervention to help them through life.
The fact that Michael Moore is trying to say a communist dictator is a better provider of human needs than the USA is despicable. If Cuba is such a great humanitarian state, why do so many of her citizens risk their life to get to the USA?
‘If you have to sell out your values and principles to get at a greater truth, where does that leave you?’
Filmmaker Michael Moore, director and star of successful films such as “Roger & Me,” “Bowling for Columbine” and “Fahrenheit 9/11,” has become the unwilling subject of a new documentary that raises questions about the credibility of his work and describes a “disturbing pattern of fact-fudging and misrepresentation,” reports the London Sunday Times.

Michael Moore is doing a new moive called Sicko about the problem with medicine in the US. As a conservative, I'm no fan of Michael Moore at all. But as an avid reader of all things alternative health, I think he's tackling a subject that needs a billion-candle spotlight pointed on it.
Sadly, because it's Michael Moore doing this film, most if not all from the Right will automatically discredit HUGE problems that do exist in the NIH, CDC, FDA, Big Pharma, et al because of patent law, rules for "health claims", conflicts of interest, shareholder value, hidden bias, and status quo.
If Hippocrates said, "Let food be your medicine," would that make, "The wrong food is your poison" true?
