If you are struggling to lose weight, there may be days when you forget why you are trying in the first place. Here are some reasons you might not have thought of:
To Run From Wild Animals
There may come a day when you are standing in your yard, watering your lawn, and a polar bear comes out of nowhere. If you were a few pounds lighter, you would be a little faster.
To Use Less Water in the Shower
If you lost a few pounds, you would save water and your water bill would decrease. You would also save time in the shower and time drying off. How valuable are time and money to you?
To Use Less Gas in your Car
The heavier you are, the more work your car’s engine has to do. Lose a few pounds and increase your car’s gas mileage.
To Decrease your Likelihood of Being Hit By a Meteor

The Physics and Astronomy Department at Western has a network of all-sky cameras in Southern Ontario that scan the sky monitoring for meteors. Associate Professor Peter Brown, who specializes in the study of meteors and meteorites, says that Wednesday evening (March 5) at 10:59 p.m. EST these cameras captured video of a large fireball and the department has

As I was driving around last night (Sunday) trying to get photos of the fires out here in Orange County, I noticed streaks of light in the sky. Prior to leaving the house last night, I had read about some meteor shower activity happening this weekend but I thought it was for Saturday night.
Seeing this, made me wonder if the meteor shower and the outbreak of fires are somehow related. Is it even possible for a meteor shower to cause a fire?
After returning home, I noticed an update from the Orange County Fire Authority website stating that Arson is the preliminary cause for the fire in Irvine.
What do you think? I would love to hear your comments on this theory.

At about 6:00am, the Orange County Fire Authority announced that they suspect arson after learning that this fire had three points of origin. Sounds like they really don’t know yet. How sure do you think they are?
Well, here is my theory…

Seeing this, made me wonder if the meteor shower and the outbreak of fires were somehow related. Does anyone know if it is possible for a meteor shower to cause a fire? If so, isn’t it also possible for a meteor to break into multiple pieces as it burns through our atmosphere; causing three fires to start at about the same time, in a place like Santiago Canyon? Could any of this be possible? I don’t know. What do you think? If you have any
So yes, I dropped my very lovely Sony Ericsson k550i in the River Liffey on Saturday! Now I’m back to the k750i, my luck with phone’s isn’t that brilliant and that k550i had already been mugged off me and confiscated off me in school for trying to update Jaiku! So I guess that’s the end of that chapter! I’ll miss the high quality camera!
Moving on to what I actually meant to post about however is the complicated procedure I had to go through last night to get a Meteor Replacement Sim-card. Firstly I ring Meteor and they tell me I can head down to Extra-Vision and get a Sim-card there. So that I do! Walking down to extra-vision and getting €10 credit to get a free Meteor Sim-card. Ringing back Meteor customer care there is a “problem” with the sim-card and there must have been a mistake in the shop when handing it to me so I have to go and get another sim-card from Extra Vision. Getting back to the house after getting it replaced I’m
So what’s all this about? Well I’ve to recall back to December 2006, when a Meteor rep, called to my 86 year old Grandmother’s front-door, doing the usual sales rep shite and somehow got my granny to invite him in.
So basically, he intimidated her into signing up for a Bill contract - she didn’t really have a clue to what she was signing upto, she just wanted him out of the house to be frank…and if you’ve ever had these at your house you’d know how difficult that is!
BUT, Meteor didn’t follow correct procedure in signing her up! The ported her O2 number over, to Meteor, then told her they’d sent her on a Sim Pack and a new mobile phone - which she has yet to recieve despite being billed every recurring month!
But, here’s the flaw. The number was and alwats has been in my name and my number. So, by rights, Meteor had no real authority to port the number over without my consent. She had already told them that fact, and they sai
Aurigid meteor shower, the spectacle will last for about two hours and will be peak at about 4:30 a.m. Pacific daylight on the 1st September.Residents of western United States, Alaska, Hawaii, and Mexico will have the best view of the Aurigid Meteor Shower. The earth about 200 shooting stars which are actually Meteor’s burning up in our earth’s atmosphere. Comet Kiess only orbits the sun every 2,000 years so us seeing the Aurigids castoffs is something that should be treasured.
The two-hour Aurigid meteor shower is predicted to peak around 4:30 a.m. Pacific daylight time on September 1, peppering Earth's sky with up to 200 shooting stars an hour. Scientists are already mobilizing to capture every ounce of data about the unusual occurrence, since it's the only display of its kind expected for at least 50 years. Meteor showers occur when Earth passes through the dusty tail of comets orbiting the sun. But unlike most of these light shows, which are caused by the trails of comets that loop around the sun in a couple hundred years, the Aurigids are castoffs from a so-called long-period comet that orbits the sun once every 2,000 years. By Peter Jenniskens Meteor Astronomer, Carl Sagan Center, SETI Institute Around the start of our year count, 2000 years ago, comet Kiess passed the sun and ejected a cloud of dust. Kiess completed one orbit in 1911 when it was discovered by Lick Observatory post-doc Carl Kiess. The dust took longer to return, and formed a continuous stream of dust particles that has been passing just outside Earth orbit ever since. On Sept. 1, 2007, that trail of dust from Roman times will wander in the Earth's path again, causing an extremely rare meteor shower during the short time it takes the Earth to travel through the stream of dust. The meteors radiate from the constellation of Auriga, and are called Aurigids. Only three people alive today are known to have seen this shower before in 1935, 1986, and 1994. After the 2007 encounter, the Aurigids will not be seen again in our lifetimes. The Aurigid shower will last only an hour and a half, with a bright Moon in the sky
Well folks, I was at work during this “event” and went out several times during the night and I did not see a thing. I was expecting a really great show and I got Nadda… There is supposed to be another meteor shower around September 1,2007 and I will place some more details up soon. Just a reminder for everyone in the USA. Tonight is the Perseid meteor shower. It is supposed to be a great show with lots of shooting stars about 10-12 per hour tonight. Look to the Northern Sky. It's going to be a great show," said Bill Cooke of NASA's Meteoroid Environment Office at the Marshall Space Flight Center in Alabama. "The Moon is new on August 12, which means no moonlight, dark skies and plenty of meteors." Observing tips from www.Space.com:To see the show, one need only find a comfortable spot with a clear view of the northeast horizon, away from local lights. A dark rural location is best. Lie back on a blanket or lounge chair and scan the entire sky. In the late evening, starting around 9 p.m. local time, sharp-eyed observers might see "earthgrazing" meteors that skim the northeast horizon."Earthgrazers are long, slow and colorful," Cooke said. "They are among the most beautiful of meteors." But don't expect more than a handful in an hour, he said. Perseid meteo
Tonight (Sunday night) the Perseids meteor shower is expected to average a meteor a minute which should be its peak.
If you’re looking to see the meteor shower at its best then it is reported that at around 2:00am on Monday it should peak (according to Taufik Hidayat from the Boscha Space Observatory).
The meteor shower will then carry on for several more days after its peak tonight, if you have seen the August Perseids meteor shower yourself then feel free to leave a comment on how you found it.

The Perseid meteor shower reaches its peak this weekend. Last year I went outside to see the Perseid meteor shower. I didn’t see a thing and got a stiff neck from looking up. I better see something this year.
Got a calendar? Circle this date: Sunday, August 12th. Next to the circle write "all night" and "Meteors!" Attach the above to your refrigerator in plain view so you won't miss the 2007 Perseid meteor shower."It's going to be a great show," says Bill Cooke of NASA's Meteoroid Environment Office at the Marshall Space Flight Center. "The Moon is new on August 12th--which means no moonlight, dark skies and plenty of meteors." How many? Cooke estimates one or two Perseids per minute at the shower's peak. The source of the shower is Comet Swift-Tuttle. Although the comet is nowhere near Earth, the comet's tail does intersect Earth's orbit. We glide through it every year in August. Tiny bits of comet dust hit Earth's atmosphere traveling 132,000 mph. At that speed, even a smidgen of dust makes a vivid streak of light--a meteor--when it disintegrates. Because Swift-Tuttle's meteors fly out of the constellation Perseus, they are called "Perseids."Note: In the narrative that follows, all
Reports of a flashing streaking light seen across Wales from Swansea to the Lleyn Peninsula on Wednesday morning was likely to have been an orange sized meteor traveling through our atmosphere at around 50,000 mph.Andrew Curley, 32, from Penrhyncoch, near Aberystwyth, was out walking his dog when he spotted a "huge fireball" racing out to sea."My initial thoughts were that it was a plane on fire, but it was far too big and going far too quickly for it to be an aircraft," said Mr Curley."It must have been something like a meteorite because it just lit up the sky." Bill Pullman is already taking welsh dialect lessons and in talks with directors about the film adaptation of this epic near miss.BBC NEWS via SpluchTechnorati Tags: wales, meteor,
