Dynamite continúa comprando licencias sin pararse a respirar siquiera, y de un videojuego al igual que su otra recién adquirida franquicia bélica, Brothers in Arms. El género mucho tiempo olvidado y que tan importantísimo fue en el comic en otros tiempos quizás vea un resurgir como el que están teniendo los westerns. Mercenaries, del que se está preparando una secuela, trata de soldados de fortuna todoterreno contratados a sueldo para combatir, con lo que sus protagonistas son personajes más caracterizados, y que tienen una libertad total al contrario que un soldado para llevar a cabo su objetivo. Su misión en la primera entrega era capturar y matar a los criminales de guerra más buscados, y podían dedicarse a robar vehículos o usar cualquier armamento que se pudieran pagar. Se lo ha intentado describir un poco exageradamente como un "Bruckheimer meets Tarantino".El guionista escogido es Brian Reed y no es un accidente ya que realizó también el guión para las secuencias

The original Mercenaries game was one of the most fun experiences I had in the later portion of the original XBox's lifespan. While the game played out in the familiar sandbox style made popular by Grand Theft Auto, it had a character and tone that was just a lot more fun. Add the fact that you could enter a cheat code to play as Han Solo (or Indiana Jones on the PS2 Version) and the game was just plain FUN!
