      Food Menus to Relieve Constipation
If you are suffering from constipation, especially chronic or severe constipation, you are most likely willing to do almost anything to get some kind of constipation relief. Unfortunately, when it comes to relieving constipation most people run to the store and buy a laxative. People want a quick fix, but the downside is that laxatives can be habit-forming and dangerous to our body if we use them frequently. Studies have shown that increasing the amount of fiber in your diet is a great safe and healthy way for relieving constipation. However, some of you may not know what foods are high in fiber and may find it too challenging to eat 25-35 grams of fiber each day.

      Free software menus reinvented
Free software programmers are fond of saying that they'd prefer not to reinvent the wheel. Apparently that attitude no longer applies to desktop menus, considering all the new options springing up. A few years ago, just about the only menu choices on the main desktop environments were the ones that shipped with them, or the exhaustive Debian ones. For five years, GNOME didn't even have a menu editor. However, recent years have seen an outbreak of experimentation, ranging from Windows-inspired menus such as openSUSE's default Slab, the Vista Menu for GNOME Panel (which seems to have taken up where the apparently defunct USlab port to Ubuntu stopped), and the menu in the newly released KDE 4, to menus whose goal is to integrate social ne

In fact, the The Obesity Society just came on board to show support. Not surprisingly, New York's restaurant lobby is against this requirement, and the group even filed a lawsuit suit last summer to stop it. Now it would be nice if they could see it. Out of the many ways to distribute your video, maybe you have chosen DVD. Full Resolution video and nonlinear interactivity make DVD-video a wonderful distribution choice. If it is executed properly, that is. One of the major issues with creating graphics for DVD menus, much like creating graphics for within your video, is that they will be translated to NTSC video. This translation is the biggest problem I see when reviewing amateur DVD menus. The most confusing issue is pixel size. Computer monitors use square pixels. Television monitors, on the other hand, use rectangular pixels. If not handle

      Manipulative Restaurant Menus!
Forbes Traveller ran an interesting article on 'menu psychology'. Here's an excerpt:"Smart chefs (or their menu consultants) know that when most of you open a menu, your eyes go right to the top of the page on the right side. And, armed with that knowledge, chefs place the menu item that will give them the most profit at the top of the page. Hence, it soon becomes their biggest seller. Then, your eyes normally drift to the center of the page. That's where many chefs place their absolutely most expensive item. They do that not because they expect you to buy that item, but because the psychology of menus indicates you'll probably then look at the items immediately above and below the high ticket item and order one of those. Again, those two items rank second and third for generating profits"Read the original article in full here.

Javascript Menus: A Couple Easy Steps Towards Better Webpage Organization
By: Jeffrey Royer Do you think website creation is something interesting, but complicated, skill-demanding and… just not for you? Well, it has its own complications. But what we’ll tell you today is something everyone can use with javascript – but not everyone really does. A Dynamic HTML menu is a …-sensitive HTML object with dynamically unfolding submenu items and menu labels. What does this mean? The DHTML menu’s functioning starts on a static page after the page has been fully loaded and during the viewing process. The dynamic characteristic of DHTML is applied to a single object – a menu – which makes the page easier to view and quicker to load. A Dynamic HTML or DHTML webpage is a webpage available for client-side scripting changes. DHTML menus are made in JavaScript, which was originally created to run on client-side. Now the language is no longer limited to just client-side, because server-side JavaScript (SSJS) is also available. Client-side scripting is ma

I’ve noticed that almost everyone who puts in a Category widget (also known as a Page Element at Blogger, etc) into their sidebar ends up with a horrendously long menu that ends up being usually a third longer than the page itself, which may already be rather long. Myself, I have never even bothered [...]

Ever thought what lies behind the Fancy Restaurant Menus?? - MUST READ!!
It's well-known that first impressions are very important, and though I don't always adhere to this popular quote, restaurant menus are one thing where I think this does prove to be a worthy measure of competence. Ok, before you start thinking that I have gone bonkers, let me explain myself. Have you recently been to an expensive restaurant and looked at a menu which is more like a decorative binder? Well, if you exercise your gray cells a bit more, you'll also recollect that most of these menus have very interesting and out-of-this-world names for their entrees like "Deep Fried Shrimp with Whipped Mashed Potatoes" (ok, I just made it up, I doubt if there can really be such an item on the menu:); but you get the meaning, right?)I have always wondered what inspired them to come up with such intricate names, and would there be an actual set of people working towards researching and coming up with such creative names? Well, I recently got an email from an unknown friend which can shed

Super Bowl Party Ideas Food, Menus, Activities For A Great Football Party
By Gail Leino When considering all the possibilities and options available for a Super Bowl Party, I found a plethora of options including healthy options for the standard super bowl foods such as beer, hoagies, clam dip, rich onion dip, and potato chips, chili, burgers and hot dogs. I found a huge list of party games and activities as well. Then, after I thought about it, I realized one thing. Other than a football betting pool, if anyone suggested an activity during the Super Bowl that did not involve being glued to the game and leaving only long enough to dash to the loo, OR attempted to pry that hoagie and chips from anyone's fingers, there was going to be real trouble. You can add some fun stuff to your betting pool, like how long the game will last, the MVP, who wins the coin toss, first touchdown and turnover, score at the end of each quarter, and so on.For that reason, here is a disclaimer concerning Super Bowl activities, games, and healthy alternatives to you in hopes you wo

      Firefox 3 with Vista Menus
Latest Firefox 3 development release get some new upgrades. First upgrade, a resizer to the Customize Toolbar dialog you can add to the toolbar to easily resize the search bar and the location bar, a much requested feature. Currently, the search bar is flexible which means it changes size as the window does but you can’t set a specific width unless you hack a bit. But, this feature still has a bug. The second improvement gives Firefox’s menus a native look in Windows Vista. Not much else to say but to show in the before and after screenshots below provided by p3nguin and Omega X. Of course, this update will get nice look with Windows Vista. [mozillalinks] Related Posts:Firefox Portable 2.0.0.4 Aerox 1.0 Final Windows Vista Theme Add Search Box to Google Reader

      Custom Menus and Tool Bars
We already had a formal introduction to Custom Tool Bar, Submenus & Shortcut Menus through the earlier posts: Animated Floating Calendar & Calendar and Toolbars. We have seen how to reference individual Button to enable/disable it based on situations that demands it.Here, we will take a closer look at Custom Menu bars, Toolbars & Shortcut Menus. Since, it is a lengthy subject we are forced to split this into 2 or 3 Posts.MENU BARSWindows based Applications have a Menu bar at the top with titles like File, Edit, View, Insert etc. When we click on them a long list of Options like Sub-menus, Items with Description alone or with Button Images and Description appears in a drop down list. When we click on any of them the designated action defined on the menu option runs and we will get our work done. Menus: Week 5
This week, an astonishing thing occurred to me. I could actually take the bulging binder of recipes I had clipped from magazines and newspapers, and downloaded from the internet, and sort them. Due to the high volume and rapid growth rate of this recipe stash, it was very difficult to put it to any good use - I might have a vague recollection of a tomato tart using the kind of heirloom tomatoes and fresh basil that are just about to appear at the Farmer’s Market, but the idea of digging through the huge pile of clippings was more than I could bear. I could also start looking through it if I saw that a certain food was on sale for that week, but I might grow old and die before locating even a single recipe containing that ingredient. I also knew that there were recipes I would never use, either because I am just never going to be a Velveeta kind of girl, or because I had already tried serving a meal with a certain ingredient once, only to be told that my regular audience NEVER wa

      Menus, Week 4
Having tired of pointing out to all of you that it is once again “Thursday,” I’ve decided to start numbering the weeks of menus. Here’s what we’re eating on Forest Street this week: Saturday Gazpacho and Turkey, Provolone, Basil Panini The Panini is described here, and the Gazpacho is a recipe from my current cookbook obsession, Memoirs of a Cook: Yesterday and Today by Mildred Knopf. I’m going to check out the gazpacho before I share the recipe; I’m pretty picky about my gazpacho…. Sunday Ginger Cutlets, Sticky Rice and Steamed Green Beans The Ginger Cutlets are another recipe from Mildred Knopf; the sticky rice is sushi rice, and the green beans will be steamed in the microwave and tossed with a bit of soy sauce, sesame oil and a few sesame seeds. Ginger Cutlets (Serves 4) Adapted from Memoirs of a Cook: Yesterday and Today by Mildred Knopf 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts Salt, Pepper and Flour 1 tablespoon butter Sauce (re

      Horizontal Menus for Blogs
I have returned from a very welcome, if damp, few days in the mountains near Melbourne. This will give me a good excuse to use some of the photos I took and introduce some more techniques for incorporating them into blogs.I was under strict instructions not to use the internet while away - which was not hard as there was no connection. I did spend a little time finishing off a tutorial on styling navigation menus though. The rest was spent generally relaxing in front of a roaring fire and playing board games and pool with the family. So as not to make this blog too heavy on coding, I have created the tutorial on my own server. You can find it here:Horizontal Navigation TutorialI have used the color names for the examples, rather than numbers (hex codes), to make the tutorial more understandable. It is best to use color numbers (hex codes) to ensure all browsers display the same. You can find an excellent comprehensive list of html colors in a recent blog post on the Color Lovers site a
