The post is entitled: "The Pervert Mentality."As part of my May 18th post on the article to which Don Charles is referring, entitled, "Ladies Love Gay Male Porn," and that appeared in the May 15th edition of "LA Weekly" while the California Supreme Court had yet to

Frank Talk, and Warnings, in a Saudi Desert
For privacy and a little sense of freedom, Saudi youths often go out to the desert. So when I wanted to talk to some young men, a friend suggested we drive outside of Riyadh. At the edge [...]
I just wrote a post for the Companions for Life Blog, mentioning a story that ran in the Dallas Morning News on Thursday last week that let people know a hard truth - that the thousands of animals euthanized every year at shelters like Dallas Animal Services are - by necessity - simply disposed of like trash.. AS trash - bagged and carted off twice-daily to the local landfill.
My disgust at the rampant and callous indifference of human beings that results in the conditions that make such actions necessary is boundless. That MILLIONS - not just even hundreds or thousands... MILLIONS of animals are put down in the US every year because the shelters and humane societies trying to stem the flood of unwanted animals just can't cope with the influx.
Because so many people are irresponsi
Why I support and not support, oh wait that is contradictory isn’t it, but yes that is what it is on Bong Austero’s contention regarding the much maligned Crab Mentality some people delude themselves as one “monopoly” we truly excel.
I should say that Bong Austero did raised a “valid” point on the so-called call for investigation on the possible...

The Kremlin gave Britain warning yesterday that there would be no improvement in relations until it abandoned Cold War-hostility towards Russia. The Foreign Ministry said that Britain had become increasingly critical of Russia, urged on by Boris Berezovsky, the billionaire anti-Kremlin campaigner, and other political refugees. Its annual diplomatic review appeared to dash hopes of a fresh start
All men are fallible. As hard as we try, nothing in this world operates at 100% efficiency. The mind drains as the body exhausts, and decision processes begin to slip. One of debatable issues within game theory contends with the notion that games could end deterministically, given that players take rational courses of action. Here lies the problem. No man or woman can realistically make every single choice at optimal rationality.Does that mean everybody has gone nuts? Madness remains a subjective term, most of the time I think. The answers may sit along deviations of standpoints regarding payoff measures. The differences in material, emotional, or spiritual desires help make the individuality culture embraced today. Trying to quantify “estimated” (in other words guessed) potential payo

When you have your own business you have to wear many different hats. That’s true! But it doesn’t mean that you have to or should wear all the hats. Going “solo” doesn’t mean “going alone” all the way.

Many investors react to market conditions like lemmings:Stampeding up the high mountain when markets are rising and down into the cold deep sea when markets are falling! This "herd" mentality can be extremely dangerous to your pocketbook. Why? Because investors often get into the market too late and get out too early! You should never let emotions cloud your trading judgment. But you can turn the crowd's fear and greed to your advantage! To exploit market psychology, you must act in a contrarian fashion, taking the contrary course when the crowd falls prey to its emotions. Extreme optimism can coincide with market tops. People think the sky's the limit and send stock prices flying. Savvier investors sell into this frenzy and run to cash. The market tanks soon afterward! Extr

Huckabee has no experience in foreign policy, and certainly did not look very good when he was caught unaware of the report on Iran’s nuclear program, but he got one thing right. In an article in the January-February issue of Foreign Affairs he criticizes the White House’s “bunker mentality.”
“American foreign policy needs to change its tone and attitude, open up, and reach out,” Huckabee said. “The Bush administration’s arrogant bunker mentality has been counterproductive at home and abroad. My administration will recognize that the United States’ main fight today does not pit us against the world but pits the world against the terrorists.”
He got that part right, but otherwise does not show any signs that he recognizes where the Bush administration went wrong. He criticizes them for not sending in enough troops but misses the point that the whole idea of the war was fundamentally wrong and that this is not a problem which ca
Misinterpreted.org has a post that rattles off a bunch of things that all add up to an End Times scenario. Among them are the Mark of the Beast, WWIII, the Antichrist, and December 21, 2012.I agree that there are a lot of things that seem to coincide both temporally and in an End-Time warning sense. There's that whole Pope legend too, where supposedly our next Pope will witness the rise of the Antichrist and the end of the world.Looks like things are heating up this season. Stay tuned -- to life!

Bat Yeor: The people of Israel are unworthy of their ancestors. The post Oslo Jew has returned to the pre- Holocaust mentality of the 'ghetto' Jew. The Jew that doesn't want to be noticed, the Jew who will do anything to appease those that hate us, just to live in peace. Instead of asserting OUR rights, OUR will that we have a right, are the rightful heirs of Israel and Jerusalem, we are acting as if we have no rights and instead are begging, begging, our enemies to recognise us and accept us! Behaving like beggars! Ans the silence of American Jews, well it's the ghetto mentality mixed with those that have assimilated into American culture, the let's not rock the boat crowd. More...
It occurs to me that we could plan for the future, and for our children sure, but we could also engineer our own demise out of a desire for meaning. The Greatest Generation had meaning because they defeated the Nazis. Deep down, we all want to be special. What if some of us so want to be special that we're willing to have the world end, just so we can say, "I was there when it happened?"What if so many of us think, "If the world ends, then I'll finally get an answer. My life will finally mean something! Jesus will come back and save us all!" If enough people thought that, could they then also think, "Sure, I could try to fix things on my own, but it would be so much cooler to get a bailout from Jesus!"Is an End Times mentality all it takes to engineer the End Times? "It's all over, so why bother?" Maybe it's not all over, but if we believe that it really is, we ourselves will cause it to happen...I hope we get our act together, environmentally speaking.
I really don't know why do people have this twisted thinking that when someone cares about another person from the opposite sex, the second person starts thinking that the first is attracted to him/her, and wants to have a love relation, and so on. well its not always like this, sometimes we meet people and we just want friendship, ok I agree that sometimes we like the other person and care about them, but its nothing more, don't go sitting alone thinking "ah he is talking to me daily, oh he gave me a nickname, he must be in love with me, he is sad because I didn't call, he is definitely in love with me, how am I going to get rid of him?" you don't have to get rid of anyone because the other person most probably is not in love with you and doesn't want more than friendship, I found this way of thinking in both sexes but I found it more in girls, mostly the beautiful ones, that when guys talk to them for a while, a twist and what the hell??? no I don't want to have you
As the end of every regular season nears, each non-contending team seems to regain its sense of purpose. Many of them have already been mathematically eliminated, but that nagging issue doesn't seem to cast a damper on their renewed enthusiasm. This enlivened commitment to victory has nothing to do with an improvement in their own playoff fortunes; in fact, it has everything to do with the opportunity to hurt the chances of others. I've always found this motivation somewhat baffling. It's not just the fact that taking pleasure in the failures of others isn't something which people generally boast about, or even admit. I mean, we've all felt that way at one point or another, so I won't pretend that the "spoiler" teams are any more morally bankrupt than the average person. "Misery loves company" is an old saying, after all. But how many of us go to work each day with the intention to make others miserable?I suppose that much much of the "spoiler" phenomenon stems from the fact that
Hey Folks,
Welcome to the first installment of “Are You An Asset Or Liability To Your Company?” series. It is my sincere hope that this series will provide you with an overview of:
1) How your top bosses (defined as anyone that is in control of your performance appraisal and promotion. It includes also by default, the top boss as in your CEO or MD or President, etc) think;
2) What is required in an employee to be considered an asset to the company;
3) How to secure the promotion or pay increment that you always wanted so badly; and
4) How not to be a liability.
Throughout my series, I will be quoting heavily from Henry Ford - One of the most successful industrialist that revolutionized the transportation and American industry in the early 20th century. Some of his quotes describes the fundamentals of a business and they apply to the businesses in his era and are still relevant even today.

“Stage one of our mission is accomplished” screamed the headline. I bet you could not wait to find out if Cesc had taught the squad the perfect recipe for pan con tomat (it’s in the drizzling technique) or if Arsene had learned how to use the purron (it gets easier in a similar ratio to Darts - more alcohol, more accuracy). Alas it was nothing as trivial; this one was about getting off to good start and the importance that it plays mentally.
This observation is the crucial difference so far between this season and last. Previously we have seen the team toil away, chasing the game, and not always retrieving the situation. This term though, Fulham aside, the team have taken the lead and defended it, with the obvious exception of Blackburn. Whilst the opposition have been such that this is nothing more than they should have done, it is something that still has to happen. There had been a lot of talk in the summer about how the squad was mentally tough which is good to he

Stephen A. Smith, the notoriously loudmouthed ESPN broadcaster, has a job at the Philadelphia Inquirer as a general sports columnist. That means he has to comment on multiple sports, which of course forces him to occasionally write about baseball, much to the dismay of baseball fans everywhere. Today, wise baseball fan that he is, Stephen A. has broken down the Mets' struggles in his latest column.Take a trip north to New York, hear the rumblings out of Shea Stadium, and you'll learn all is not well with the team there.I have heard these rumblings, but alas, I need Stephen A. to truly break it down for me.One pitcher in New York, John Maine, has been a shell of himself since the all-star break, going 3-3 with a 6.31 ERA in seven starts. He starts off on the right foot, with a fair criticism of Maine.Another, Oliver Perez (3-2, 4.33), hasn't been much better. Now, he begins to slip a little bit. Apparently, Oliver Perez "hasn't been much better" despite the number that Stephen himself
Most of us really do not earn a living buying and selling stocks. However, it is understandable that many of us are a little upset when we look at our stock market portfolio because of the recent decline of our stock prices. For example, my stock portfolio is basically down $10,000 from an all time high one month ago. This roughly means that I worked for nothing for the last couple months since my after tax income is much less than $10,000.
I’m not particular worried though, because the stock market has been good for me. For me, stocks are a long term growth story as opposed to a short term one. Sure, the stock market has been declining pretty sharply for the last month. However, if we take a 10 year average of stock market prices, the long term up trend is very apparent.
I’m no expert in stocks. Like most of us, I just try to invest in the stock market because I want to have a good life down the road. I understand that the stock market is not going to make me rich overnigh
By Sharon WhiteAt the beginning of the film Michael Corleone returns from war to a doubtful future and attends a family wedding. It becomes evident from the very beginning that Michael does not want to follow the steps of his family and embark on a Mafioso lifestyle. We are given the feeling that Don Vito Corleone respects his son’s will not to pursue such a lifestyle even though each of his other sons are predominantly involved in the family "business" and for this reason alone it can be construed that he is Don Vito’s beloved son and the one in which he takes the most interest. Despite Michaels apparent wishes not to become occupied with the family "business" it is obvious that he cannot ignore his feelings of loyalty and devotion to them or his natural ability to take a role of responsibility and mantle within the family.Don Vito Corleone is an aging godfather/patriarch who is the head of the Corleone crime family in the New York boroughs. The opening of the film is located at a

If you have any type of problems on your mind before you start your work out it is imperative that you free yourself from them. All your mental energy needs to be channeled on your fight with the weights. Keep in mind that you should reduce talking during training to a minimum and if you do talk with somebody be sure to reconnect your concentration to your work out. If you fail in doing this you will see that your thoughts will stay at that discussion and the effort you put in lifting weights will not be as high as it should. Your mind must be ready for “war” when you train and this is a golden rule for any bodybuilder, beginner or professional.
Abortion is always a highly passionate discussion for the religious and non-believers. I'm an atheist and I'm also a libertarian. I don't think the government has a right to decide if abortion should be allowed or not. At the same time I am highly against abortion for nearly all circumstances. My problem with abortion has absolutely nothing to do with moral standards or religious law. I

Kevin Pietersen has said that some of his England team-mates lack the mentality that has helped make Australia world beaters.
Pietersen spoke out after England's string of poor performances since winning the Ashes in 2005.
Australia meanwhile, bounced back from that defeat to wrest the urn back in a 5-0 whitewash earlier this year.
They also won the World Cup, illustrating their dominance of both Test match and one-day cricket.
According to Pietersen, a desire to continue improving is just as important as natural ability and preparation when it comes to explaining the Aussies' success.
"That's the mentality I wish a lot of our players had, a want to be greater every single day," he told the BBC's Inside Sport.
"The Australians are definitely winners," he added. "We copped it this winter. I had a horrible time."
The 26-year-old Hampshire batsman is currently suffering from a calf strain that could rule him out of the first Test against the West Indies
I started thinking today as I went to the gym about how bodybuilders think about themselves. I am sure you saw a lot of examples of great bodies that had louzy attitudes. The fact is simple, if you have a good body and you can give lessons to others that's what you should do not boast about your physique. Bodybuilding is not about convincing yourself and others how good you are and this attitude is often the difference between a champion and just a great body with no prospects nor friends. There are many professional bodybuilders out there that have some success but don't even have a training partner because of their mentality. Bodybuilding should be a lifestyle as so many people say. You practice this sport to become a mature and better person and get healthy not just to look good. If bodybuilding becomes an obsession of making you the best possible then it is no longer a lifestyle and obsessions are definitely not good.
What does it mean to be American, un-American? Is the US the greatest country in the world? After reading a comment sent to me about my piece Opinions and Judgments, it struck me to really consider the comment and answer some questions I had stirring inside of me. What does it mean to be American to me or to anyone else for that matter? Being born on American soil gives us this claim but is it also a mentality we have? Living elsewhere and learning the behaviors and inner workings of another country I realize that part of being America is the mentality we have, the personalities and behaviors we acquire along the way. My behaviors and personality differ from those around me; our perception of the world varies. Take for example, Natalie from the Dixie Chicks, who voiced her embarrassment and unhappiness towards the president and the war. The backlash from expressing her opinion was massive and uncalled for. It was her right as an American to utilize her freedom of speech. She used her r
Does your finance area have a service mentality? Or does it often seem at times that departments in the company have to go out of their way to meet the needs of finance?
Here are some signs of a self-focused finance area:
A large number of special reports needed for the finance department that require manual or special effort to pull together.
Many reports just used in finance and not useful for the rest of the company.
At larger companies, the corporate finance office stays put in the home office and rarely ventures out to the field.
Systems that are very seamless for finance, but dysfunctional for other parts of the company.
No metrics in place to measure the service that finance provides.
Fortunately, times are changing. Entire companies are becoming more customer focused. They are looking at customer service metrics that they would never have tracked before or changing the metrics to reflect what the customer wants instead.
For example, at Home Depot, they used to measure
You know, I’m no expert, but it seems to me, casual observer, that some teams know they’re going to lose, and put in a position to win games, will find a way to lose the games. I mean, you’ve got teams like Northwestern, North Carolina, Michigan State (to an extent), and Kentucky. A lot of these teams occasionally find themselves in positions where they are winning high profile games only to turn around and lose the games in the last few minutes.
Vanderbilt used to be notorious for this behavior until they were able to get the monkey off of their back by beating a beat up Georgia team this year. In fact, Vanderbilt is starting to believe, and sooner or later, upon beating other teams, they’re going to have to stop putting out dvd’s commemorating the wins.
Anyway, back to the point. Some of these schools, I think because they’re so unused to winning, don’t know how to handle things like “having the lead” or “not getting bea
