What are the causes of Menstrual Cramp? Posted By : Keith Woolley
For women, the wisdom you acquire with age is often offset by the physical discomfort your body seems determined to inflict upon you. Many women who’re unluckily enough to have irregular periods can still have menstrual cramps to deal with as well. The situation can be made worse for approximately one in ten women who [...]

Menstrual Blood Can Repair Heart Damage
Japanese scientists have found that menstrual blood can be used to repair heart damage. Scientists gathered cells called mesenchymal cells (MMCs) from menstrual blood donated by nine women and cultivated it for about a month. After the cells were put together in a culture with cells from the hearts of rats, about 20 percent of the cells began beating spontaneously and eventually formed sheets of heart muscle tissue. The success rate was 100 times higher than the 0.2 percent rate for stem cells taken from human bone marrow. Another set of experiments showed that live rats that had suffered heart attacks improved after being implanted with the MMCs.

Quit Smoking at the End of Your Menstrual Cycle
Whether a woman manages to give up smoking depends on her menstrual cycle, claim experts at University of Minnesota. The study conducted by the scientists involved 200 women trying to quit smoking. Half of the volunteers was in the “follicular” part of the cycle (just after menstruation ended and before ovulation), and the other half – in the “luteal” part (after ovulation and before the next menstruation started). 86% of women from the first group started to smoke again in one month, while only 66% of women from the second group did. So, it means, that it’s more likely to give up smoking successfully, if you start quitting the bad habit a few days before the period. Researchers suppose, that ovarian hormones play an important role in giving up smo

A Look At The Reasons and Causes For Pre-Menstrual Acne
More than 80% of the people in the age group of 12 -14 suffer from acne. Acne is basically an inflammatory skin disorder that stems from the skin’s sebaceous glands and its hair follicles. Acne is the term used to refer to pimples and deeper pustules associated with clogged pores. The reason boys and girls of the age group 12-14 develop acne is the high levels of hormones in their bodies at this age. This in turn leads to the production of large quantities of sebum. It is this sebum that clogs pores and forms pimples. And if these pimples get infected, you find a pustule on your face. As these hormones don’t disappear after adolescence, women tend to suffer from premenstrual acne because of the release of progesterone after ovulation. In addition to the increased hormonal levels in women, it has been found out that ethnicity and oral contraceptives too prove to have an impact on premenstrual acne.   Age too is a factor as 50% of women over the age of 35 tend to suffer from a h

Evening primrose oil for Eczema, Diabetes, Menstrual Disorders, and Joint Pains
This supplement is a boon for women who experience the trauma of menstrual cramps every month. It is known by its name because its light yellow flowers open at dusk. The oil of evening primrose is very rich in polysaturated comega-6 fatty acids, which are necessary fatty acids that body needs to complete numerous functions including insulin absorption, regulating the heart, and regulating mood. The body does not manufacture these fatty acids on its own, so they have to be taken as food or food supplements. Aside from the omega-6 fatty acids, evening primrose oil has linoleic acid and gamma-linolenic acid (“GLA”). Both of these acids are very important and very beneficial to general well-being. GLA accounts for most of the supplement's therapeutic effects. Eczema: One of the leading uses of evening primrose oil is to treat eczema, an allergic skin condition that may develop if the body has trouble converting fats derived from food into GLA. In a study of 60 people with eczema GLA

Could your dry eyes be related to your menstrual cycle?
Dry eyes are a very common symptom among many women today. New research suggests that dry eyes may be related to to women's monthly cyclical changes in hormone levels, in particular, related to their estrogen levels. This research suggests that the estrogen peak (seen above) which occurs during the follicular phase is associated with impairment of tear production resulting in ocular dryness and inflammation. Painful menstruation or menstrual pain (masalah haid). Are you affected?
In the medical world, it is known as dysmenorrhoea. Common women simply refer to them as cramps or painful menstruation. Men obviously found women in menstrual pain to be fascinating and at times irritating. Women should not bother too much about men’s views on this since they really have no idea what you are really going through. Maybe it is best that women would take the opportunity to explain to the other opposite sex what menstrual pain is all about. Tell them that painful menstruation is excruciating, it is a feeling of sharp intermittent aching pain felt in the pelvis or lower abdomen. Discuss it openly and they would understand sooner or later. Medical records have shown that menstrual pain affects approximately 50% of menstruation women and 10% from this 50 would be suffering in extreme pain for a number of days. It is one of the leading causes of lost time for women in workplaces and higher learning institutions. Men

Menstrual Like Cramps in the Ninth Month
For the past three days I have had menstrual like cramps. These cramps are the worst I have ever had. They disappointed me because I had no contractions afterwards. I refuse to take tylenol at this point because I heard that pain medication can inhibit labor. I am insane I know! I asked around what to do to relieve the cramping and of course the best advice came from my sister-in- law. She suggested I soak in a warm bath. If they go away they are nothing. If it is true labor, the bath will help labor intensify more quickly. I also tried walking, which helped me and of course, a massage. The cramps are gone for now and I feel much better. Going to physical therapy also helped relieve the tension and cramping.

It's just amazing how Ricardo Arjona plays with words and composes a piece of Art with them. Only he could write a song about women and menstrual cycles and sound like poetry. He is one of the the best Latin American composers."Adentro" is probably one of the best albums of Arjona, all the songs are excellent, specially "Mojado" which is about a political issue. I've been waiting for this album and now it is finally here. The combination of genres and lyrics is very good, especially in "Iluso" (one of my favorites of "Adentro"). "Para que me quieras como quiero" is also a good one.
