Memphis and Tennessee are the top two teams in both polls this week, but they are still looking for the respect that comes with being that high in the polls. MEMPHIS (AP) — Memphis police say three men have been arrested and charged in the shooting death of University of Memphis football player Taylor Bradford. All three men are charged with murder in the perpetration of attempted aggravated robbery. Taylor Bradford, who was a 21-year-old football player at the University of Memphis, was shot and killed on campus; however, police are saying that this was a targeted attack and not a random act of violence. As a precaution, University officials have canceled class for Monday.
According to authorities Bradford was shot by the University of Memphis housing complex on Sunday. He then got into his car, but only drove a short distance before crashing into a tree. As of now there have been no arrests, and police say they believe the gunman has left the campus.
Memphis Police inspector Roger Prewitt said, “We found him with a bullet wound to the body and the ambulance took him to the hospital where he was pronounced (dead).” Bradford was a junior defensive lineman for the University of Memphis football team.

King Curtis was the last of the great R&B tenor sax giants. He came to prominence in the mid-'50s as a session musician in New York, recording, at one time or another, for most East Coast R&B labels. A long association with Atlantic/Atco began in 1958, especially on recordings by the Coasters. He recorded singles for many small labels in the '50s -- his own Atco sessions (1958-1959), then Prestige/New Jazz and Prestige/TruSound for jazz and R&B albums (1960-1961). Curtis also had a number one R&B single with "Soul Twist" on Enjoy Records (1962). He was signed by Capitol (1963-1964), where he cut mostly singles, including "Soul Serenade." Returning to Atlantic in 1965, he remained there for the rest of his life. He had solid R&B single success with "Memphis Soul Stew" and "Ode to Billie Joe" (1967).
