According to WWD - Vera Wang has signed a lease for a bridal boutique at 8447 Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles on the same block as Marc by Marc Jacobs. The 3,600-square-foot store, Wang's first freestanding unit outside of New York, is expected to open in fall 2008 and will feature 12-foot ceilings and carry the full bridal line, as well as fragrance, shoes and tabletop items.Wang plans to open her first ready-to-wear store on Mercer Street in New York's SoHo, also bowing next year. Does anyone else miss that show? Well, it seems like I am sitting in front of the television watching Michael Mancini and Kimberly (remember her...she's now Brie from Desperate Housewives...didn't she remove her hair in that one crazy episode of MP??) in one of their moments when I listen to the stories coming out of my stepson's mouth about his mother. It amazes me that all of it is actually true.SS's mother (BM) started dating her younger sister's boyfriend about a year ago, while she was living in the same house with this younger sister. Younger sister dumped this boyfriend (yes, she was the one who got rid of this guy) and it couldn't have been more than a week later, we hear my stepson saying that his mother is dating this guy. Ewww.Drama ensues and the younger sister moves out of BM's house due to this fabulous new relationship between BM and used "boyfriend". About 3 months later, BM's house gets foreclosed on.BM then tells SS, "Oh, we are moving into "boyfriend's" hous

According to Women's Wear Daily, designer brand Helmut Lang will open a boutique on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles in late summer. The freestanding store — under construction across the street from Melrose Place — is adjacent to a new 4,000-square-foot Theory boutique, which is also owned by Helmut Lang's parent company, Japan's Link Theory Holdings Co. Ltd. Melrose Arch's 'Lincoln' Ditched
Buyers who purchased apartments and penthouses off-plan in the swanky Melrose Arch development 'The Lincoln' in the northern suburbs of Johannesburg were told last week that their contracts have been cancelled.
The 85 luxury sectional-title units were launched some 18 months ago with great fanfare at prices ranging between R2,5 and R5m. Investors were offered a guaranteed 10% rental income of the gross purchase price for the first year after completion. Construction was due to start earlier this year.

Rick and I got there about 2 hrs late so don't know who was there earlier but the place was packed still and everybody was wonderful. Melrose, yes the model from ANTM, was wearing the famous Malan design, the flapper fringed dress (which I have a massive personal love for since I stitched it :) ) and looked amazing.
She struck a cute pose when I snapped this picture. Plumm is a beautiful club Malan is a wonderful host and a wonderful person.

I have now signed this painting and it is ready to be framed.So many artists mentioned to me that the trunk on the large tree to the right looked flat that I knew they had to be right. My eye tended to travel up the left hand side at a rush so a twiggy branch was added to slow things up a bit. I darkened the trunk slightly in from the left to help round it off but left some reflected light still coming in from that same side. Even though the timber under the "skin" of the tree trunk is red, the outer colour is very light after the bark has been discarded. Well the big question has finely arrived, is it finished???Smaller branches and twigs have been placed in the trees as well as the odd sky hole. I spent quite a bit of time completing the water. The bottom left corner was quickly completed as I didn’t want detail in this area though the pastel marks give a good impression of lots of litter on the ground.For now it is more look than put. There maybe a tweak here and there but nothing major with no further posting on the blog with this work. When I get a chance I will organize a pdf file of this painting as a Work in Progress, which then can be downloaded at my website.Thought you might like to see a close up of the stones under the water.
