I may not have hundreds of readers or thousands of visitors here at Another Piece of the Puzzle, but I am proud of what I do and have met some wonderful people through blogging over the past several months.
So how fun was it to hear about a very clever blog called AllMediocre, whose tagline is "The World's Best Blogs... You Just Don't Know It Yet!" What a great take on the idea of listing

There have been a lot of complaints recently both from Saints Row fans and GTA fans about the similarities between the two games. And it surprises me how unoriginal some producers can be. Saints Row wasn't the first to jump on the Grand Theft Auto bandwagon and it definitely won't be the last. But the question is, does it have enough original features to lure gamers away from the much-loved GTA fr
So I just beat Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns Of The Patriots for the Playstation 3 system and let me say….WOW…An absolutely incredible game!!
I thoroughly enjoyed this game. I thought it was well made with a top notch, in depth story that had me glued to the screen sometimes watching some of the excellent cut [...]
As you may have guessed from the title, this post will not be up to my standards as of late. I apologize, as I am pressed for time.Things that have been on my mind very recently: 1. I am so out of touch with what is going on overseas. I was watching The Daily Show last night as I wound down for bed and did some casual writing, and Lara Logan was the guest. She is the Chief Foreign Correspo

No ideal trade setups, just getting bored by a bunch of mediocre chicks
(GOOG) Great earnings, gotta respect the after-hours stock gains, optimistic people looking for an excuse…but be careful–$200 million in one-time currency gains—without it, wouldn’t be such a blowout…too pricey a stock to matter to TIM, but just be a little weary here.

Back in 1975, when I was but a wee tyke of 7, there were no trade paperbacks collecting previously-published stories. But that didn't mean DC and Marvel were above reheating previously-served soup and re-selling it under a different name! And I was a sucker for reprinted stuff, mostly because the publishers could shove a lot of content into each issue and sell it for a song. 48, 64, even 100 pages for 60cents was not unheard of. This is why I cringe when 28 page pamphlets are sold for nearly three bucks a pop.Frankly, I blame distribution. Back in the day, we bought our comics from metal racks in groceries or convenience stores. No retailer expected to keep his whole operation running from the sales of comics. They were incidental items that didn't take up a lot of floor space with a
My biggest concern with having 24 people milling around my house for Thanksgiving was that we would be too crowded to have a good time. Sure, I remember how we used to all cram ourselves into my Grandpa's single wide trailer every year for Christmas. We survived. Just barely.
And by cram, I mean Cram in the most literal sense. The kind of cram when you're trying to finish up all the laundry and
AUSTIN, Texas – German writer Franz Kafka meets the war on terror in “Rendition,” which is a message movie with what one would consider a self-evident message: torture is bad. We live in a political climate, though, where that isn’t self-evident.Reese Witherspoon and Peter Sarsgaard in “Rendition”.Photo courtesy of IMDbWhile “Rendition” is timely and invigoratingly noble, it doesn’t really have any perspective. It’s to torture what “Amistad” was to slavery. It’s a $30 million AP brief.Directed by Gavin Hood (“Tsotsi”), the movie assumes a “Babel”-like structure of tangling Hollywood stars with relative unknowns in intermingling storylines. The inciting story involves an Egyptian expatriate – Anwar El-Ibrahimi (Omar Metwally) – who is detained while coming home to Chicago to his pregnant wife, Isabella (Reese Witherspoon).Unlike Josef K. (a character in Kafka’s novel “The Trial”), he is told his charges: a phone call he received in the opening
Last night's activities devolved into a guys' night out. My friend had brought a bottle of Jim Beam, and I couldn't resist. I certainly didn't drink much but I took a pretty big swig straight out of the bottle and that alone seemed to buzz me. They say not to drink with benzos. Best I can remember, the swig occurred about forty-five minutes after my Klonopin dose. I seriously doubt that's enough alcohol to cause any sort of complication...I didn't experience any. Perhaps it's part of the reason I don't feel perfectly well this morning, but I doubt it:The same friend who brought the whiskey also ordered pizza and garlic cheese bread. Garlic is something that when I had GERD really bad I had to stay away from, but I can tolerate it pretty well these days. I ate a couple of his cheese breads and two slices of pizza. I shouldn't have because I'd already had a pretty healthy sandwich for dinner. By the time I tried to get to sleep I did, in fact, have reflux issues. I d
Nothing about the festival was terrible, and thats why this article is not called The Worst of Bonnaroo. Rather, with all the awesomeness swirling around the Bonnaroo grounds, a couple things were simply mediocre: not great, not awful, just kind of there. Ive sat here all week humping everything about the festival; therefore, its only fair that I point out those things that werent quite up to snuff.
On Friday, scientists released a study that they say conclusively shows that in each measure of human performance or quality, most people fall somewhere in the middle ranges when compared to their peers. According to scientists, an aggregation of the data conclusively proves, therefore, that most people are mediocre.
Details include:
1. Most children are of average intelligence and talent. Teachers regularly tell parents that 70% of their students “bright” and 90% “talented.”
2. Most people are average-looking despite the fact that people consider both themselves and the majority of their friends to be “really cute” or “handsome.”
3. Athletes tend not to be as “articulate” as the rest of society.
4. Most people thought of as “very nice” are really just “nice.”
5. Only 13% of babies are “beautiful” with the majority being, again, average.*
According to scientists Joe Fulano isn't

Just because I don't feel like writing an essay on each one of them. And also because I'm quite pissed of with the music industry. You get weeks with no premieres at all, and then in a single day there's a whole bunch of crappy videos to talk about... So here it goes...Amy Winehouse - Back To BlackOk, this one might diserve an essay of her own, but I think I'm kinda disappointed with this one. Where's all the glamour? Quoting Popjustice, it seems she is burrying a tortoise...Arctic Monkeys - BrainstormI haven't seen it yet. I'll leave it up to you.Ne-Yo - Because Of YouUgh. Awful. The man just don't know what to quite does he?

There are four things that the city of Banff has in abundance: scenic mountain views, exorbitant prices, elk, and Japanese tourists. In fact, it's hard to turn a corner, or even turn around without being confronted by at least one of the four aforementioned items. Often it seems, they work in conjunction with each other: Elk, attracted by the geography of the mountains, in turn attract Japanese tourists, who congregate in herds that rival the herds of elk they photograph. The cultural difference that seems to encourage not simply one, but multiple modes of media recording is not something that we typically see in North American culture, save the most tech savvy individuals. But here they are, a platoon of curious onlookers from a foreign land, being toted from scenic vista to scenic vista, shutters clicking in a cacophony of preserved memories, future cocktail conversation, and stories to make their relatives sick with envy. I can even understand the bounty of digital images of gorge
There was an odd aura in the Target Center tonight and it took me a little while to figure it out. When it did finally dawn on me, I could not believe that it took me so long. The oddity was that one of the largest crowds of the season was in attendance to watch quality basketball. The problem, of course, is that the quality team basketball came from the opposition, the Phoenix Suns.More…http://www.spmsportspage.com/published/spmfeatures/the-difference-between-go.shtmlhttp://rss.wolveshoopsblog.blogspot.com/rss/nba/minnesota-timberwolves.xml

The world is not getting worse, as many seem to think. The world is not really getting better, either. There is a mediocrity principle at work in our lives, where we strive for the middle of things. Life is never particularly great for vast periods o...
