Maximo Park DLC headed to Rock Band
Microsoft of Europe has announced that Maximo Park’s ‘Girls Who Play Guitars’ from their album ‘Our Earthly Pleasures’ will be available to download and play with Rock Band from the 10th of June. “We have an Xbox 360 with Rock Band installed in our rehearsal studio in Newcastle and it’s great for thrashing out some amazing songs,” explains Paul Smith, front man of Maximo Park. “W

      Maximo Park - Band Profile
I don’t know about you but I’m a huuuuuuge fan of Maximo Park. They’ve released two albums and have won a lot of praise for their angsty songs and frantic stage shows. The band formed in the North-East in 2000 and consists of Paul Smith (Vocals), Duncan Lloyd (Guitar), Archis Tiki (Bass), Lukas Wooller (Keyboards) and [...]

      maximo park's earthly pleasures
i have a confession to make: i have an addiction. i can't get Maximo Park track 'Books From Boxes' out of my head. it's no wonder it hit #1 on the UK indie chart - it's a damn catchy, if slightly depressing, tune. it's also a real gem on an otherwise not particularly exciting album. Maximo Park, as you may have guessed if you've already heard them, are from Newcastle and it shows (or... hears?) t

Maximo Park Lauch Their Own Beer
Newcastle Brown Ale is soon to be rebranded as Maximo Brown Ale in a move that will hopefully make Maximo Park synonymous with their glorious hometown of Newcastle. The band have been hard at work designing their own label for the bottles of ale which will go on sale nationwide on December 15 (the same date that they are playing at the Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle). Frontman Paul Smith said: "So many amazing things have happened for our band in a short space of time and to have our image emblazoned on a Brown label is another addition to that list. "It would be great for our band to be as synonymous with Newcastle as the mighty Brown Ale, and it's both amusing and an honour to be able to deface the label in this manner!" The label will be on the front of 25,000 bottles of Brown Ale that are to be sold at the Newcastle gig, as well as at the Stereo group of nightclubs in Newcastle, Brighton, Oldham and Huddersfield.

XFM Big Night Out - Maximo Park & The Maccabees Live
Maximo Park’s second album was rubbish. The Maccabees have been plodding out the same set for the last two years. The chances of this night out being as big as its name suggests are slim. The possibility of everyone staying in the pub to watch the rugby is high. So how was this gig so bloody good?Regretfully, Pete and the Pirates are sacrificed in favour of Jonny Wilkinson and “Swing Low Sweet Chariot”, meaning Gigwise is left with a mad dash to catch The Maccabees. They are already onstage as throngs of patriotic gig-goers bustle into the Academy. With the excitement of greetings and jubilation of English victories, the band struggle to press their authority over the hubbub. ‘Toothpaste Kisses’ is lost beneath its own daintiness and the boisterous crowd’s inattentiveness.Their set needs something to trigger a turnaround. This duly arrives with ‘Latchmere.’ The childish purity of its refrain echoes around with gleeful contagiousness. There’s a gripping nonchalance to
