Fixed Maturity Plans, or FMPs, have become quite popular among conservative investors not wanting to invest in asset classes considered risky. FMPs have emerged as an alternative to fixed deposits (FDs).
What is an FMP? How do FMPs work? What are the risks involved? Are there any income tax benefits?
[Article inspired by a query from reader Vijaya]
The buzz word in the mutual fund industry is Fixed Maturity Plans. What are they? Fixed Maturity Plans (FMPs) can be termed as the mutual fund industry’s answer to Fixed Deposits (FDs). Over the years, FMPs have established themselves as an option for debt fund investors (i.e. risk-averse investors). In many cases, they occupy the slot that used to belong to FDs. This is not surprising given that
Fixed maturity plans are debt mutual funds that have a particular time period and are an indication of the expected yield. FMPs try to match the investment horizon of the investor, with that of the fund portfolio so that all securities in the portfolio are held to maturity. FMS, like other debt funds are subject to regular capital gains tax. Even though most FMPs are close-ended, they offer an exi

I just returned from an ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) meeting in NYC. During my time there I discussed the concept of decision making maturity with three different groups and thought it worth writing about. Best to do in context with my career. When I was trained as an engineer, I focused on how components and assemblies were shaped, manufactured and functioned. This element-cen

Nope it’s not about being a mature writer. It’s about the age, performance, and content of your blog. Actually, “blog maturity” per se is not a tip in itself but a characteristic that your blog should have. The tip that we could use here is, perhaps, be patient, consistent, and dedicated in blogging.Okay, to understand it better let’s just say that search engines would prefer indexing older domains and pages as compared to new ones. Also, they tend to favor sites with more content produced as compared to those who only have a few. It just means that the older and bulkier your site gets, the better it will rank in search engines (unless you’re always fooling around using dirty SEO tricks). Why search engines are employing this technique in their indexing algorithms is to filter
What's wrong with this picture?About the same thing that's wrong with the picture further down! Both of these pictures take unnecessary cheap shots a people's religion and is a sign of disrespect for other people's beliefs. Now don't get me wrong, I have run down religion quite a lot on this blog, but, it has always been about something that is wrong or perverted about a belief system, not the religion itself. When people publish pictures like these it reduces us to the lowest common denominator. In other words, this sort of action is no better than the people they are trying to denigrate. For example, I have made quite a few comments about Muslim Fundamentalists and Extremists and will continue to do so because I believe that these people are as misguided and delusional as some of the Christian Fundamentalists who infest North America. There is no place for these "Children of God" in modern society and they have to be ostracized in one way or another, otherwise they will continue to
I suppose that after 12 years, it’s more than obvious that what may have been there once, a very long time ago is not there anymore with my ex-husband. But what I’ve come to realize in just the last few days is how little there ever really was, when I compare my relationship to my (now) hubby with what I recall I had with ex.
It just amazes me that I was ever attracted to him at all. LOL
Because now he … and I don’t mean this to sound mean, but he repulses me LOL Time just hasn’t been good to him (not that I’m saying in ANY way that it’s been good to me either), but it’s not just the physical changes. I guess it’s just really shown me how much better suited I am to my favorite ma’an (even with his challenging faults LOL) and how much I love him, perhaps because of those faults. Even after 12 years, his breath on my neck still gives me shivers. Even after 12 years, a single touch and I’m like jello. Maybe not ALL
Right a bit of a brief post - by my standards anyway - as the home broadband has gone tits up and the ISP are too useless to fix it. Aren’t you, Orange.
Arsene reckons next season will be his biggest challenge yet and he is desperate to nuture the talented youngsters through so that they will reach their full potential. Personally, I think he has more time than he believes although he has been careful not to look too far into the future. The Press will store this one away and nearer the time use it start spurious rumours about how he will not be renewing his contract, no doubt. Interestingly, he thinks this team will mature quicker as they started earlier in their first team careers. Now I cannot wholly agree with that assessment because each individual matures at their own rate although I do see his logic. Whether that happens, only time will tell but with the return to fitness of his leading strikers, I am optimistic about next season.
Everyone’s fantasy swap of centre-ha
The photo in this entry is Essence. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez.I recently had a conversation with someone about the history of one's life. We spoke about how the events in our lives affect us from childhood. We also spoke about the maturity that certain hardships bring and the humbleness that some people can't help but have because of them. The person I was speaking to was very surprised at the experiences I have had at such a young age. When brought to light, I realized that I am the way I am not only because of my mind, but the life I have lived as well.I grew up a very precocious child. I could have reacted very differently to the events in my life or gone about certain things another way, but I don't regret my life. Many older people get surprised at my demeanor for my age, I just turned 21. If only they knew the life I've lived, it has molded me to be as mature and wise as I am. I'm still very young nonetheless, with lots to learn and a long road ahead. Alt
I've learned that you cannot make someone love you. All you can do is stalk them and hope they panic and give in.I've learned that no matter how much I care, some people are just jerks. I've learned that it takes years to build up trust, and it only takes suspicion, not proof, to destroy it.I've learned that you shouldn't compare yourself to others - they are more screwed up than you think. I've learned that you can keep vomiting long after you think you're finished. I've learned that we are responsible for what we do, unless we are celebrities.I've learned that regardless of how hot and steamy a relationship is at first, the passion fades, and there had better be a lot of money to take its place. I've learned that 99% of the time when something isn't working in your house, one of your kids did it.I've learned that the people you care most about in life are taken from you too soon and all the less important ones just never go.'So what maturity has taught you ...?'

Funny thing: the very night I post the link to the "hugs†video, a war begins with my neighbor. Three occupants of this building (that I know of) have now lodged complaints with the office regarding her (and/or her boyfriend's) behavior and, as I am surely one of them, I'm the lucky (and obvious) target of an immature retaliation.
The stereo is up even louder than normal tonight, so I needed to go over there again (this is perhaps the 10th time) to ask that the volume be lowered: which I did, calmly and respectfully. I was greeted very coolly when she opened the door, but I smiled and quite evenly suggested that if she could lower the volume, it would help me out a lot. She replied "well, I'll see what I can do to help!†…whereupon I had the door slammed directly into my astonished face.
So, here we go. Unfriendly. AND noisy. Great.
Is maturity relative or comparative? For example, can you only have maturity if there are two or more people to provide a contrast, e.g. "she is more mature than I am, but I am more mature than he is"? Or is there some "absolute" level of maturity, e.g. "I am mature"?And just what is maturity, anyway? The reason it's linked so conventionally to age is because in general people mature as they grow older. I find this notion a little bizarre, that we try to measure maturity by how many times the earth revolves around the sun. But the reason I said it was erroneous is because you can get an 18 year old who is more mature than, say, a 26 year old. But by what measure of maturity? The way they talk? The way they socialize with people? How they think (and how would you verify that anyway)? The way they respond to problems? Those all sound a bit like criteria for intelligence. Is an intelligent person necessarily mature?idleThinK [v3]: a faint blue idea of order | MaturityI've been thinking
The Portfolio, Programme and Project Management Maturity Model (P3M3) is a reference guide for structured best practice. It breaks down the broad disciplines of portfolio, programme and project management into a hierarchy of Key Process Areas (KPAs). The hierarchical approach enables organisations to assess their current capability and then plot a roadmap for improvement prioritised by those KPAs which will make the biggest impact on performance. Research demonstrates that ROI from process improvement using a maturity model approach ranges from 2:1 to 27:1. Most articles on portfolio, programme and project management maturity models focus on the 'accreditation' aspects of the model. This article focuses on how to use the model as a framework for process improvement by applying change manag
