Arsenal Now 3 Points Clear At Top - Match Report
William Gallas had his doubters at the start of the season when he was named skipper of the side ahead of Kolo Toure and last season's stand in Gilberto.  People questioned his commitment to this club at times and others questioned why such an outspoken player was made captain.  People wondered why he was given the armband after one injury ravaged season following his move from rivals Chelsea.  For me the fact he was a winner, the desire he showed to win matches last season and the fact he was not afraid to speak his mind made him the ideal captain.  Yes, Toure has been a loyal servant to the club and Gilberto filled in admirably last season but Wenger was spot on in my opinion.  He knew Gilberto would not nescessarily be first choice and that Toure already had the job of leading a young back four.  A captain must be outspoken and tough - look at Adams, Vieira and Keane The last few weeks Gallas has shown what a player

Match Report And Was Jamie Carragher MOTM Or A Cheat?
Morning all, let me start this blog by stating right from the outset that I do not make a habit of bad mouthing Liverpool football club. they are a great club with history and 5 European Cups. It is neither jealousy nor sour grapes, and I would go so far as to say that my response to the events at Anfield are quite restrained. In my my view Arsenal outclassed Liverpool and played open attacking football worthy of a team at the top of the Premier league, hungry for success. The result meant that this team was denied 3 points. No matter. The lineups demonstrated the difference between the two managers. Arsene Wenger had his tried and trusted 4-5-1 with Adebayor playing the lone role up front, with only Rosicky entering the Almunia,Sagna-Toure-Gallas-Clichy,Flamini-Fabregas-Hleb-Eboue settled team. Tinker man Benitez appeared cautious at best confused at worst as the 4-3-3 formation resulted in raised eyebrows around Anfield. Reina,Finnan-Carragher-Hyypia-Riise,Gerrard-Maschera

      Arsenal v Sevilla Pre-Match Report
Tonights game brings one of the most exciting sides in Europe to the Emirates; a game that i am absolutely delighted we've got at this stage in the season. The last thing we need in the midst of a focussed, technically excellent run in the Premiership is a downbeat Euro Group game against someone like the 5th placed team in Norway… Sevilla have quality all over the pitch, this is their Champions League debut and they have all grown together (and with the tragic death of young Antonio Puerta, that bond will only be stronger). This will keep the side occupied for 90 minutes will be a good level and hopefully keep us ticking over before the forthcoming league games where we should be picking up 3 points. There's rumours abounding that Gilberto might make way tonight, due to Senderos' return to the side i for one would probably keep Gilberto in the Centre of defence as Senderos is as always an accident waiting to happen. But i am absolutely in favour

Arsenal 1 Manchester City 0 - Match Report
Kasper Schmeichel’s heroics were not enough to preserve Manchester City’s 100% record in the Premier League this season as Cesc Fabregas struck late in the match to earn Arsenal victory. Fabregas found the top corner to become the first goalscorer against Sven-Goran Eriksson’s City, who had won their first three games. It was particularly harsh on the imposing centre-back duo of Richard Dunne and Micah Richards, Richards’ only mistake resulting in a penalty that Schmeichel saved from Robin van Persie. And at the other end, Eriksson and his bench were up on their feet in the second half claiming a penalty when Kolo Toure flattened Michael Johnson, but referee Chris Foy waved play on, allowing Arsenal to take advantage. Emmanuel Adebayor returned to frist team action after a groin problem and Tomas Rosicky was also back in the team as Arsenal looked to break down a stubborn City defence. At the back, though, Philippe Senderos was injured in the warm-up and Gi

Arsenal 2-1 Inter Milan Match Report
Smiles all round as Arsenal win Emirates Cup I didn’t catch the game today, but I did watch highlights on Arsenal TV and from what I saw Arsenal looked pretty good. Alexander Hleb worked well in behind Robin van Persie and Emmanuel Eboue impressed again on the right wing. There was one piece of dribbling from Eboue in particular where he skipped past three Inter Milan challenges that suggests to me that he might yet cut the mustard on the right. He does need to stop diving around like a muppet though. One thing I have particularly noticed is that Arsene Wenger seems to be encouraging the boys to dribble as much as possible to create space for the other players. I think it’s working well, but it might be a different story against the more physical English sides. Nevertheless it was a superb result for an exciting Arsenal side that suggest the side’s preparations for next season are going very well. For those like myself who missed the game I’ve included a match

THE 30 Million Pound Match Report: Charlton 1 - 1 Sheffield Utd
Well, not literally the £30 Million match, but dubbed by the media and press, Charlton entered this huge 6pointer knowing it was a must win affair. Most fans knew that we had to win, although it wouldn't be too bad with a loss/draw, a win would ease the pressure of the three tough upcoming fixtures. The Club had gone a long way to lift the atmosphere by giving out free clappers and also arranging Bjorn Again as pre match entertainment. Add that with the usual drumming and flag, the atmosphere should be immense.Charlton started the first half well and seemed to be egged on by the 'Up-For-It' crowd. Unfortunately the first half ended up being a bit dull, so half time was welcome relief.Once again Charlton started well in the second, at at '59, The Elk hit a shot towards the United goal, it deflected against one of their defenders and the net bulged. I havent seen the crowd go so crazy in such a long time. It was amazing! Then the whole stadium stood while singing "Stand Up, If You're

Another Poor Performance - Match Report
Arsenal slipped further off the pace in the Barclays Premiership despite ending a run of three successive league defeats against Newcastle United. The Gunners, who have never lost four consecutive league matches under Arsene Wenger, might have done so had James Milner’s 46th-minute shot not come back off the crossbar on an afternoon when Newcastle were a match for their illustrious opponents. Arsene Wenger’s side, as ever, played some attractive football, but created few opportunities of any note until a late flurry which brought the best out of Nolberto Solano. The Magpies’ approach may have been a little more prosaic but, if anything, they had the clear openings with winger Damien Duff twice going close at the end of a first half during which defender Oguchi Onyewu had forced a good save from Arsenal keeper Jens Lehmann. However, a point apiece was fair as the home fans among a crowd of 52,293 left St James’ Park the happier. The Magpies returned to the

      Match Report: Arsenal v Spurs
Bring It On! A game of two very different halves tonight as an Arsenal B+ team did us proud at the Lane. Everything looked to be distinctly un-promising for the return leg at the Grove with Spurs taking an early lead when Berbatov made the most of a mix-up between Almunia and Toure. The second also came as the result of an unfortunate defensive error when the Beast turned a free-kick into his own net. 2-0 down at half time, and things looked bad for us. Consistent with just about every tonne of praise that has been rightly heaped upon our genius manager and his young squad recently, though, the second half was a different story. As the first half had been dominated by Spurs’ quick passing and movement and ball-winning mentality, so we dominated the second. Whilst Ali remained largely anonymous throughout, the Beast has once again proven his quality. The equaliser was a typical Arsenal goal in many ways, coming as it did from a pitch-length counter attack, but particularly impres
