Matava - Kadavu Enchants a World-Weary FishermanBy Bill BoyceANYONE WHO TRAVELS THE WORLD IN SEARCH OF FINEfishing locations eventually has what I like to call,'The Century 21 Moment.' You finally find one of those places that you barely dreamed could exist: one full of insane adventures, gorgeous blue water and friendly locals eager to share their little slice of heaven. When you leave, you vow to return as soon as you can possibly make the trip. But when you do make that much-anticipated pilgrimage back to paradise, the first thing you see as your vehicle leaves the airport is a gold, Century 21 sign. That's the moment you know that your paradise is lost.Marlin Magazine Nov 2007, Fiji ArticleYou know the scenario; we fishy types in our baggy shorts and tournament T-shirts are soon outnumb
Matava diving with mantas Video sent by MatavaFiji A very special dive and one of the few places in the world where manta rays can be seen regularly. You'll be taken by the size and graze of these beautiful creatures as they circle inquisitively. Though almost within touching distance all you'll do is stand back in awe.

Congratulations to Matava’s latest PADI Open Water Divers. Part of the Long Island University Marine Biology group, here for 3 weeks, these girls had only just been snorkelling for the first time then one night at dinner decided they wanted to learn to dive. After only 2 days they had already established themselves as the loudest and most troublesome members of the 22 students, so I thought, “hmmm, this could be interesting.” It turned out to be one of the funniest PADI Open Water courses ever.It was a bit slow at first, with both girls trying to convince themselves that they weren’t actually going to die. But confidence grew, skills were mastered and I was even reprimanded for a couple of incidents. Firstly I was stopped half way through a demonstration to be told that I was too c

Very cool Manta video, although IMO the music sucks! Why does everyone put BORING music to anything underwater. It's almost like bad porn music! How about some Buzzcocks or Stiff Little Fingers? It would certainly make it all a LOT more Fun! anyway that's my tuppence...

Sport Fishing Fiji Video - From Matava Resort, Kadavu Island - Wahoo, Sailfish and Spanish Mackerel with Capt. Adrian Watts aboard the Bite MeIGFA Angler’s Digest brings you light-tackle fishing from Fiji with IGFA Certified Captain Adrian Watts and First Mate Joe Tucco. We target Wahoo and Sailfish and tie into a Spanish Mackerel for good measure. The area we work is up tight to the Great Astrolabe Reef where finding sailfish just a couple of hundred yards from the reef is just as common as tying into huge wahoo that run in packs. We'll finish up the episode with some underwater footage filmed on a few dives on the Great Astrolabe Reef – this reef has perhaps the healthiest coral any of us has ever seen.If you're looking for an unspoiled place to dive, snorkel or a world-class fishery just minutes from your accomodation, you have to do yourself a favor and check out Matava Resort and the Bite Me sportfisher on Kadavu Island in Fiji.Sport Fishing Fiji Video - From Matava Resort,
MATAVA RESORT KADAVU, FIJI GETTIN’ FISHY IN FIJI By Bill Boyce To anyone who has traveled the world in search of fine fishing locations, an un-deniable fact we keep contending with at so many of these destinations is .. Paradise Lost.. Paradise Lost… Paradise Lost. For we have all been to places we dreamed could never exist, and once there, had the most insane adventure, vying to return as soon as humanly possible. But when we did make that much anticipated pilgrimage back to paradise.. It was indeed .. You know the scenario, we fishy type people in our shorts, and industry related T-shirts, keep getting replaced by the dreaded “suit and tie on the be

The large packs of marauding wahoo that congregate along the barrier reef are fewer in number than normal. Though packs are being found in some of the usual places, some sites that normally hold wahoo packs are just not firing up yet. The average wahoo size is also lower than normal at about 20kg rather than 26kg though some big solitary fish have been seen. The sails have also been down in numbers though some very nice fish to 60kgs have been tagged & released. Normally the average sail pack consists of about 5 to 6 fish but this yea

A nice little write up (even if ti was a rainy week when she was with us!).See underwater.com.au for the full review,,,,"Finally we went to Matava in Kadavu Island. It rained. Ok, it rained a lot. This is a very small, quaint and very friendly resort. It does not have any features that you would see advertised in the fancy island resorts such as Beachcomber, Castaway, etc. It has very little tourist population and very little modern day conveniences but a most comfortable place to stay. You really felt as being part of the true Fijian lifestyle. There is little electricity with some bures only having light by lantern. Some bures have solar power for night light and hot showers. Hot showers are also available in a central convenience block. There was a community block where all meals were served and the socialising / relaxing was done. Matava specialises in water sports such as diving and fishing by it's wonderful location with abundant reefs and large marine life. Swam with Manta Ray

At long last after many requests from past guests we have managed to get a place where we can all share photos from Matava. As many of you know we have very limited communications out in the resort in Kadavu. In fact if we even have phone lines that we can speak on we are grateful. The team at the Matava Resort in Fiji, is invaluable to the development of a quality lure. They are indeed a lucky group and what they call work, we call leisure, (No offence intended). Adrian's knowledge is keenly sought by Palmfishing and Lurestreet, we know how valuable his Field Tests are.Adrian and his team, aboard 'Bite Me' have tested many Lurestreet Lures included our small, but very effective range of Game lures. as well as several lures from our hard plastic range. Such lures as the Raptor 200SS, Raptor 150SS, Deceiver 225, Mother In Law (Popper), Clay's GT Special, (Popper), Classic Wood 230, Classic Wood 230/75, DEEP L Super Popper 160 (Sinking Popper), this is just a few.Read this full test article by Palmfishing & Outdoors here..."Bite Me"
