One of the most sensational bequests of great paintings to the British people since the foundation of the national museums is now on public view at Tate Britain, London. Eighteen masterpieces - many of them barely, or never, seen in public over the past 50 years - have been left to the National Gallery and the Tate by Simon Sainsbury, great-grandson of the founder of J Sainsbury grocers.1 Vote(s)

In 1995, the social anthropologist from the US, Kate S. Brown, tried to examine this success with the help of the “national imagination” in the now independent Macedonia, and, toward this aim, formulated the following leading question:"In the 1990s, Macedonians speak a language codified in 1946, spoken by less than two million people, and with a very slender literature. They are members of an Orthodox Church whose authority was established by a socialist political regime in 1968. They are heirs to a 1903 revolution that until the 1940s was described by almost all sources as being Bulgarian. They are descendants from people who were called, and at times called themselves, Serbs or Bulgarians. They have no modern history of independent statehood; the last period that they can claim as bo

Did you know it was not until the mid 1400s, when mirrors became more popular, that visual artists dared to refer to themselves as main subjects in their own work of art? Approximately 500 years later vocabulary of human culture was dramatically changed and self-portraits were already a popular form of expression. Used by true groundbreakers to express the zeitgeist of the pre-World War I and
Artists who work with oil paints, watercolors and canvases may seem rather old-fashioned with the increasing advancements of computer software designed specifically to draw and paint digitally.

The influence of dreams on our civilization has quite various aspects and many scientists keep trying to explain them. They create and prove theories but all of a sudden the theories begin ruining and again and again wise men try to find explanations to what we see in time of dreaming.
The only fact that cannot be debated is that when dreaming you switch off your conscious and subconscious comes
Two of Four Stolen Masterpieces found in Zurich
Two masterpieces that were peeled from the E.G. Buehrle art museum last week were found in good condition Monday in an unlocked car parked outside a nearby psychiatric hospital.
The two other paintings are still Swayze.
The recovered paintings were Claude Monet's "Poppies near Vetheuil" (1879) and Vincent van Gogh's "Chestnut in Bloom" (1890)
Vincent Van Gogh Masterpieces – Lesser Known Works
Vincent Van Gogh, in the course of only 10 short years, produced a vast and incredible body of work. Succeeding Rembrandt as the most recognizable Dutch artist, Van Gogh’s work, along with Cezanne and Gauguin, is universally recognized for extending the Impressionist work of the era and crafting [...]
As our society and our technology have changed, so have our definitions of art. What was only relegated to canvases and pieces of paper can now be found on websites and on video sharing services. So the question becomes what a masterpiece in our eyes is now that we can create them virtually with the help of a computer and a few basic production programs. Here are some of the tools that you might want to employ if you're looking to become the next virtual artist celebrity. The first thing that any digital artist needs is a good computer system. This is a system that needs to have a bright screen and a large 'working surface' onto which you can place your images or pictures and see them clearly in relation to other work you have done. Your computer should be able to show a wide range of colors in a brilliant fashion and create files that are high definition. In your computer, you should have access to basic art programs and design programs like a photo publishing and desktop publishing
London National Gallery exhibited life-size reproductions of Constable and Da Vinci on the streets of the city. The task of paintings reproduction was performed by Electronic Printing Services in Leeds. They say they were looking for a printing device that would make billions of pixel at high resolution.
Steve Farley, Managing Director at Electronic Printing Services says:
“We had the money to invest but there wasn’t really anything to invest in until we found HP. The image is 2.5m wide by 64m long. You don’t get any degradation of image.”
The printer found was HP DesignJet 10000. All reproductions were printed on a special vinyl media, which combined with waterproof laminating provides three years of fade resistance.
The largest painting cost around $400 to print, however that was still cost effective.

The Beatles - Acoustic Masterpieces - The Esher Demos(1968)320kbps Recorded at 'Kinfauns' - Esher, England May 1968 (exact date unknown)Source: George Harrison's Reel to ReelNotes from the cover:In late May 1968 (the exact date not known) The Beatles came together at 'Kinfauns'. George Harrison's home in Esher. One by one, first John, then George, then Paul, they recorded 23 of their newest compositions by double-tracking themselves on George's Reel to Reel tape machine. These songs, most of whom were written during the Beatles' two month stay on a meditation course in Rishikesh, India, Feb. - April 1968 were subsequently recorded for the 'White Album'. But not all of them made it onto vinyl and thus remain unreleased (at least as Beatles versions).Judging by the outcome of this session, it must have been a very sunny and relaxing day. Spring certainly was in the air (and a bit of pot maybe too). Just accompanied by their acoustic guitars John, Paul and George recorded very ch
