Norwegian automaker Think Global said Monday it planned to sell low-priced electric cars to the masses and will introduce its first models in the U.S. by the end of next year.
The battery-powered Think City will be able to travel up to 110 miles on a single charge, with a top speed of about 65 mph, the company said. It will be priced below $25,000.
Oslo-based Think said venture capital firms RockPort Capital Partners and Kleiner, Perkins, Caufield & Byers had made investments to fund its entry into the U.S. under the auspices of Think North America.

Karl Marx said: “Religion is the opium of the masses.”
According to Marx, religion is an expression of material realities and economic injustice. Thus, problems in religion are ultimately problems in society. Religion is not the disease, but merely a symptom. It is used by oppressors to make people feel better about the distress [...]
""It takes less credentials to be a mortgage broker than a pimp on a street corner in Harlem.....Because a pimp needs references."The Economist published an article about the need to educate the world about personal finance. On a much smaller scale that is one of the goals for this blog and so the article was very poignant for me. The article is based around the works of John Bryant, who has for years been telling anyone who will listen about the problems caused by widespread ignorance of finance. "EVERYBODY wants it. Nobody understands it. Money is the great taboo. People just won't talk about it. And that is what leads you to subprime. Take the greed and the financial misrepresentation out of it, and the root of this crisis is massive levels of financial illiteracy." Here are some highli
As far as technology is concerned, state-of-the-art devices and gadgets always start out with a price that is a tad out of reach for the mainstream market. Because of this, it usually takes a while for people to fully adopt these new technologies. When a certain adoption point is reached however, manufacturers can then afford to offer more affordable choices. The same phenomenon happens in the ultra-competitive processor business. Dual-core processors used just for the privileged. But today, with the release of the Intel Celeron E1200, users on a budget now have a dual-core processor solution for tackling their multi-tasking computing needs. More »
Historically the hedge funds were available only to the wealthy, or had high initial minimums (quite often more then $100,000), or they have some other disadvantages, like limited liquidity (you can redeem your holdings only once in 1 or 3 months, and you need to give 7, 30 or 60 day advance notice), sales or surrender charges (which can be up to 6% high), lack of transparency or regulatory oversight.Fortunately for small investor, in the last a couple of years a new breed of hedge funds became available to the general public: listed hedge funds. As the name implies, they are the hedge funds listed on a stock exchange. Accordingly, they can be bought or sold like any other stock. Listed hedge funds have a lot of advantages over their traditional cosines:1. Your initial investment can be as
India's largest bank is turning to one of the country's smallest technology companies for a new minimalist cash machine it hopes will solve the subcontinent's chronic financial services shortage. State Bank of India (SBI) has 10,000 branches, the second largest network in the world, but struggles to reach the farming communities that make up 70 per cent of India's population. About 85 per cent of India's workers are employed in the "unorganised sector" – where wages are paid in cash – and at least half do not have a bank account. Hoping to reach the underbanked masses, SBI is trialling a new automatic teller machine (ATM) that costs a tenth of the price of conventional models and is cheap enough to deploy in areas where the average transaction is 100 rupees (£1.25). The WIP is a romance. The characters meet in Chapter One and are together the next nine out of ten chapters in some way or another. Then they get split up. They're apart for almost 10 chapters, each getting about equal POV time on the page.

Baseball for the Chinese masses? The State Department sending Cal Ripken to Shanghai? Yes, yes, I know something of the hallowed traditions of Japanese baseball and more recently the Taiwanese leagues. Those were begun on sandlots by boys imitating the American soldiers stationed on military bases, and they grew organically.
In the case of China, as with so much else, Chinese “interest” in the sport, of which there is extraordinarily little, is a top down affair, undoubtedly spurred on by the highest levels of sporting administration simply as a result of baseball’s inclusion as an Olympic sport. Although eliminated from the 2012 Games, baseball may return in 2016. Surely, there is some long-term planning going on in the General Administration of Sport.
From the American State Department’s viewpoint, what is the value in assisting a fledgling Chinese Olympic effort? Not, apparently, the expansion of commerce for sporting goods makers, whose manufacturing b

via clickz.comVideo search engine blinkx, which recently introduced a contextual ad matching service for video content called AdHoc, has expanded that offering to allow anyone to make money from text overlay ads inserted into clips. Dubbed AdHoc Widget, the product lets any publisher -- be they Web site owner, blogger or social net junkie -- combine embed codes for videos hosted by YouTube, MySpace Videos and similar services with the blinkx ad matching and insertion technology. Blinkx spits out a new bit of code that, when pasted onto a Web page, serves text-based overlay ads on that video clip wherever it's syndicated. Those ads will come from third party networks such as those operated by MIVA, Yahoo and Microsoft. After the networks take their cut, Blinkx will split ad sales revenue 50/50 with end users, distributing payments via PayPal. There is potential for abuse with such a system, as pointed out by search experts, and acknowledged by blinkx. For instance, AdHoc's amateur pub

The "tasting" costs nothing unless you keep the domain past 5 days. Domain Tasting is the term coined to describe a process
Sorry for the long delay in blog posts - I recently switched jobs (don’t worry, it was at my initiation), and have had to focus elsewhere for a short while -

Anyways, back on topic. For all those viewers who tune in regularly, I was in Scotland last month at the Edinburgh festival. It was a grand time, and I highly recommend you all visit it. It was also a great “case study” in how difficult marketing can be in a highly competitive marketplace.
Hundreds of thousands of people pass through Edinburgh during the festival season, as do thousands upon thousands of acts. In fact, there are so many acts that the light poles get deformed from having such a large quantity of posters stapled on them at eye level:

Yesterday I admitted that my creativity was as crusty as Jenna Jameson's stomach and I asked for some suggestions from you, my fine readers. And yes, there were some nice little nuggets in there...Well, you asked for it. Hi Folks - If you are reading this you may be thinking of selling your home or may just have an interest in Real Estate. The Real Estate market has changed over the last few years. It is no longer a seller's market in Metrowest MA. Creating an on-line presence for your home is vital to increase your chances of getting your home sold for top dollar in a timely manner.Recently I wrote an article titled Selling your Home in Metrowest MA? It pays to interview a top Realtor. The article covered a few topics including making sure you pick a top agent when selling your home and how the Internet has changed how Realtors market to the buying public. The article explains how over 85% of todays buyers are searching for their home on-line and print advertising is no longer an effective form of marketing.Below you are going to see in detail the sites that I use to market all my homes in Metrowest MA. This investment in on-line marketing has allowed me to provide my clients with results. In fact

As a new blogger, I am very conscious of what I am writing and I always try to think to myself: “Am I writing this for me, or am I writing this for others to come read. And when trying to market your blog and increase traffic and readership, you always want to keep this in mind.

This involves posting things that interest you, and that may not necessarily be “hot topics”. This may include, but is not limited to, being vague about what your are writing about, perhaps using language or metaphors that most people will not understand, making posts about mundane
details of your life. When blogging for yourself usually you will not post regularly, but only when you feel like it or when you have something to say. These blogs can be extremely attractive to people who want to get a glimpse of someone else’s life, experiences and beliefs. They get their links by being placed in blogrolls, but likely never get links for particular posts.

While the wait for Apple’s iPhone continues, Taiwan-based High Technology Corporation (HTC), announced the release of HTC Touch mobile phone based on the innovative TouchFLO technology. Excerpt from an article at vnunet.com Peter Chou, chief executive and president of HTC, said: “With the HTC Touch access to your most commonly used content, contacts and features is only a simple finger flick away. Mobile phone makers have done a great job of cramming ever-more exciting features into ever-smaller phones. But the way in which we access these increasingly sophisticated features has not kept pace.” Comparing it with a piece of virtual paper, Chou described the interface as “beyond simple - it’s innate”. Part 2This album is a culmination of Depeche Mode's middle-period experimentation. More informed by goth than techno, it is still anchored by plenty of the larger-than- life-baritone melodrama so distinctive of David Gahan's vocals. The most experimental track is "Pimpf"--a song that heave-hoes along with the synthesised emulation of a Russian men's choir. Although nowhere near fast enough to be danceable, the commanding "Never Let Me Down" ranks as the best single on the album, with the most hummable "Strangelove" coming in a close second. Each song is a praiseworthy accomplishment, but the singles here set off the experimental tracks, making the album seem thematically schizophrenic.
Fun Fact: Cobalt blue rocks my socks off. It is the hottest color of the season, and surprisingly goes well with the blue eye shadows that are so tempting these days as long as you pick a hue that contrasts a bit. No one likes a matchy-matchy gal.The color is so unexpected. Not quite a navy blue, certainly not a pastel blue; cobalt blue is in its own league. My fave way to wear it? A hint of blue poking out either with a cobalt cami under a cardigan or with some groovy looking platform pumps with some casual jeans. Or even with a LBD (little black dress for the fashion un-savvy).Payless has a great pair that they are practically giving away for $16.99 so you have no excuse to jump on the blue train of delightful fashion.Mind you, they are flip flops, in a sense, but also they are chic and look vaguely like a wedge/heel combo. They would look adorable with some khaki capris. Enjoy!

Reading the daily news (well, it was 3 days ago), I found that Lost has an end, not for now, but it has been decided that the end comes in 2010, seasons 4,5 and 6 with 16 episodes and 8 months of break between them.

From Asia Times OnlineHONG KONG - Mass movements are part of Chinese tradition. Chinese people tend to act as a group and, whenever conditions are ripe, they rush to join with someone or some group taking the lead. Hence a "mass movement" can be easily formed. In the 1960s and 1970s, there were the "all people becoming citizen-soldiers" movement and the Cultural Revolution launched by Mao Zedong. In the era of economic reform and opening up, "mass movements" appear to have become more spontaneous. In the 1980s, there was a time when "all people rushed to do commercial businesses". And now we are witnessing another mass movement: "all people speculating in stocks".Indeed, as the Shanghai and Shenzhen stock markets keep rising, more and more Chinese citizens join the army of speculators. On April 26, some 325,000 new investor accounts were opened on the single day, pushing the total number to 92.5 million. This means one out of every 14 mainland Chinese (including children and the aged) i

While sex sells, lawsuits linger. Taking note of America's fancy for feuding, European lingerie boutique, Sloggi, approaches advertising in an off-kilter fashion. Measuring 17 feet long, “Habibi” (meaning “dear” or “beloved”) was constructed by Algerian-born French Artist, Adel Abdessemed.
Shown in a way much like the dinosaur exhibits in a natural history museum, Habibi is a self portrait of the artist’s bone structure? Well, it is meant to be a self portrait anyway.
I can’t find too many images of it online, but you can find a few here and here to get some better perspective of size.
I also found a biography of Adel with this quote.
Abdessemed is an international and manifold artist, heroic like Ulysses. Each one of his works is a resolution, on the scale of both an aesthetic experience and a political proposition.

If you've been looking for a new way to monetize your site I've got some exciting news for you. With little fanfare Amazon has launched a new service for it's Associate advertisers. The service, "Context Links Beta," works a lot like Kontera and Intellitext in that it dynamically adds advertisements to your content using JavaScript.
Unlike Kontera and IntelliText, though, Amazon Context Links are actually CPA rather than CPC. You earn revenue when someone makes a purchase on Amazon.com after being referred by your site. Amazon Context Links also offers a much greater range of customization options. After reviewing everything, I'm about 90% certain I'll be switching from Kontera to Context Links this week.

Supposedly, it is now very likely that the PSP will launch with two new versions in 2007, one will have eight gigabytes of on-board flash memory and the other will have some type of built-in hard drive.
In a recent interview with Newsweek, Electronic Arts CEO Larry Probst discussed the potential for a new PSP and his ideas for driving hardware sales.
I think what moves the needle is a new form factor that’s smaller than the existing unit, at a lower price, and hopefully that price is $100 lower. This is pure speculation, we don’t know what Sony’s plans are. But it would not be hugely surprising if they had that lower priced unit at $149 and then a more fully-featured upscale unit that retails at $249 or $299. Again, that’s pure speculation. We don’t have any inside information on that.
While I’d love to see a PSP below $100
