Noted author Jim Willis barked in this urgent alert regarding the Mason County Animal Shelter which is facing a massive euthanasia of unwanted yet healthy dogs. According to another message, the County Commissioners are not giving the shelter staff any more time. The Commissioners will be taking over the shelter very soon and putting down all but 50 dogs. It had been awhile since I took in a live set of music, probably due to the overload I got last month at Bonnaroo. But last night I made a point to head over the Decibel Lounge in Northside to check out two great bands. First up was Mason Proper, who are out touring their album, There Is A Moth In Your Chest. This was the first official Cincinnati stop (playing previously in Newport, KY) for the band and my first time seeing them outside of the WOXY.com studio. I have to say how impressed I was with the bands energy throughout the set, and from what I understand this is a common thing for them. They also ripped through the tunes in a much louder fashion than I expected as well, which was really fun. Some new tunes mixed their way into the set along with some favorites like “My, My (Bad Fruit)” and “Lifes Cornucopia.” Here are a few photos from the concert. More photos after the jump….. I was a dinner guest in a party of 5 at the Mason Jar restaurant in Mahwah, NJ on U.S. route 202. One of my close friends took me there with our kids.. a Mr. Mom sort of night out with the kids. I only had a salad and an appetizer, my friend had a pasta entree ("lousy", he said it was), the kids had chicken fingers (which they liked) and we also had a horribly disappointing nacho platter for starters. Yuck is all I could say about the Nachos and service was SLOW. For this simple meal with mostly kids at the table, my friend coughed up $100 including the tip. The Mason Jar used to be a good place... it's now off my list, as well as my friend's list.

The Associated Press is reporting this morning that Cleveland Browns rookie wide receiver Mike Mason was arrested Sunday after refusing commands from two off-duty police officers to leave a downtown nightclub at closing time.  Mason struggled with one of the officers and was shocked with a stun gun, Lt. Thomas Stacho said Monday.  The 22-year-old Mason was charged with aggravated disorderly conduct, obstructing official business and resisting arrest - all misdemeanors. Sure, this year's NCAA Basketball tournament was great and had some upsets. However, to me it was really missing the one thing that makes it truly great. It really was missing a great Cinderella story. It needed that team in the elite 8 or even maybe Final Four which was not, in any way, supposed to be there. Well have no fear and do not hang your head because the sports world has its Cinderella story for the year. This year, rather, it came from the Frozen Four- not the Final Four.The Michigan State Spartans shocked the hockey world, myself included, by beating the Boston College Golden Eagles on Saturday night. As the number 3 seed MSU was only the 2nd 3 seed to make it to championship (BC last year was a 3), and now the first 3-seed to win it. I didn't get the opportunity to watch this whole game but from what I saw was a really great, hard-hitting, physical, and exciting hockey game.
