This weekend was one of the more uneventful weekends of my life. Due to my tooth situation (which has been taken care of) I was laid out. A new filling and some "good" painkillers made my day. My business partner (CEO of ScribeStorm working out of our Burbank office) called me this morning to tell me he was evacuating his family for fear of two fires near his home. He was unreachable by mobile phone for several hours while I tired to find more information. I was unable to get any clear details at CNN or LA area news sites. Then I came across this Google Mashup. Cool.
Looks like this mashup is pulling data from the LA Times, which is funny because I went to the LA Times website and couldn’t really get a good idea of what was going on. I thought about this for a while while navigating the Google Maps mashup and it occurred to me that I would prefer to get all my news in the form of a Google Maps mashup.
Ugh. Monday, I wish I could rewind to Saturday and keep enjoying the weekend. Friday's biopsy went well I guess. 4 lesions on my cervix were biopsied and they don't look right, but we'll see when I get the pathology report on November 2. And she did an endometrial biopsy also, which means she got some cultures from my uterus too. No, no anesthesia involved. They said it would *pinch*. Pinch my azz, that mess is sooo painful. I'm still sore and can't do any lifting or go to the gym until the end of the week. I'll spare the nastier details of what's going on, but it's not cute lemmetellya. But thanks for all the prayers and well wishes you all have given, it truly means a lot. “Mashup” is a word you often hear these days on the web. For those who don’t know, a Mashup is:

Wikipedia also mentions that a Mashup was originally a music term, for aggregating 2 or more songs or tracks into one.
Hence I would like to tell you about my favorite mashup. For anyone who hasn’t listened to or watched Les Misérables, you should. The characters all have various songs they sing during the performance, then just before half-time, they all sing the song “One Day More”.

Bueno, pues este Google EarthQuake Mashup, es algo muy sencillito pero Super Útil para la gente que tenga que estudiar los terremotos o simplemente que le gusta saber como “chocan” las placas tectónicas el día de su cumple. JaJaJa.
Lo que hace es decirte con el Google Earth dónde va habiendo terremotos a lo largo del día y del mundo, dándote algún dato como su intensidad, lugar exacto y hora. Además te indica el centro Sismológico que le ha dado la información y el link hasta él para ver “más detalles”.

Yesterday I was networking with Bruce Mendelson, an insurance broker who specializes in families with special needs kids. As the conversation progressed, he beat me to the punch: Bruce asked me what I enjoyed doing - besides business. I admitted my geeky hobby of learning about Web 2.0 “stuff”.
I told him that it’s like the Wild West Web all over again, like the late 90’s Boom… there are so many Internet Innovations going on! So Bruce fed my instant excitement, “What’s the coolest thing on the Web now?”

MySpace has launched MyMovie MashUp in partnership with Vertigo Films - a competition to find the best short film director on MySpace. The winner will get to direct a feature film with a budget of over £1 million with the film scheduled for theatrical release in 2008.
Entries will be judged by a distinguished panel of filmmakers and actors who will select five finalists. The finalists then face a public vote by millions of MySpace users to decide the ultimate winner. The lucky winning director will immediately begin production on their feature film…
To enter the competition and win the chance to direct MyMovie Mashup, you need to set up a MySpace page or Filmmaker page. You then need to enter your video through the entry form on the MyMovie MashUp page (available from the 31st January 2007). You must be the director of the video, a legal UK resident and aged 18 or over to enter this competition. You must be available to participate in all aspects of the video development process.

Another Google Mashup in the Online Travel Industry… Tripadvisor displays the hotels according to their popularity on the site and their availability (their price too?). It displays the number of reviews per hotel and the average price found among Tripadvisor partners.
I hope it will be available in more countries and more cities (not just for the US). That’s funny to see that Tripadvisor only displays the average price of the hotel for the dates selected, they have chosen not to enter into the war of the aggregators that compare travel retail sites between them to retrieve and publish the best price found for each hotel..
