The Maserati MC12 is a rare beast. Only 25 were made in 2005 and just seven of those were federalized for use in the United States, one of which is this blue-and-white gem you see above. Similar to its brother, the Ferrari Enzo, the Maserati MC12 shares not only the Ferrari 6.0-liter V12, but the same hefty price tag, as well. The current bid for this particular example is over $1,200,000 and still under the reserve. This is the fifth year of showing a concept model from the Istituto Europeo di Design (IED) of Turin. This latest - the Maserati Chicane - is a very competent piece of work, displaying a degree of professionalism that wouldn't disgrace many OEM stands, yet the concept car was designed by two students of the 5th RSP Master in Transportation Design, Dmytro Zyubyairov and Oscar Palladino.In essence, the Chicane is a rebodied Alfa Romeo 8C with a 2+2 layout. Maserati’s new four-seat GranTurismo sports coupe is set to stun crowds at the 2007 Australian International Motor Show at Sydney next month.
The Pininfarina-styled Maserati GranTurismo’s considerable length (4881mm) is complemented by its design, which delivers an undeniably strong visual impact as well as luxury and exclusivity, according to Maserati’s Australia and New Zealand general manager, Edward Butler.
With more than 100 Australian customers already in the queue, the GranTurismo set to be one of the most successful Maseratis ever sold here.
A high-performance sports car, the GranTurismo boasts some impressive figures.
Its 4.2-litre V8 engine produces 405bhp (around 302kW) at 7100rpm, and a maximum torque of 460Nm at 4750rpm, of which 75 per cent is already achievable at 2500rpm.
Its maximum speed is 285km/h, and it accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in 5.2 seconds.

We just got information about this new version of the Q-Porte, the Quattroporte Sport GT S, a couple of weeks ago and now we have a few live shots and our personal reactions to add. First off, it's really hard to even notice that this is a new Quattroporte, when there are three GranTurismos ten feet over from it. Not that the Q-Porte isn't a fine vehicle, but OMG that GT is sex on wheels. The QP is a great sedan (especially in Sport GT guise) and this new Sport GT S has a few minor but important upgrades over already improved Sport GT that should make this an even better driver's car. The problem is that there are very few exterior differences to tip you off that this is the all-new sportiest version. Or rather, they are too subtle to really notice. Not that there's anything wrong with the shape (or the details for that matter), but it's not like the jump, say, Ferrari made in taking an F430 and turning it into a Scuderia.

Zagato has been very busy as of late. At the Geneva Motor Show in March it debuted two models, the Diatto Ottovu and the Spyker C12 Zagato. Today the company revealed that it's now collaborating with Maserati to produce the Maserati GS Zagato. The GS is a one-off commisioned by Paolo Boffi, a furnishings and luxury designer who apparently doesn't like to buy his cars off the shelf. This is a game we like to play every now and then. It’s purely hypothetical and likely we’ll never need to make the difficult choice, but given that you can’t walk down Cheapside in London these days without spotting either a Maserati GranSport or an Aston Martin Vanquish S, it’s not a completely irrelevant question to pose.
Let’s agree that both are good cars. They’ll both get you from A to B, and they’ll both do it stylishly and quickly. (Here’s something we’ve come up with that could well be true: If A happens to be half a mile from B, you can get there in about 6 seconds in the Vanquish S.) But they are very different in almost every other way.
Maserati’s GranSport would appear to be the car of choice for the bonus-boys this year – no sooner had record earnings in the City of London been announced than orders were being placed in Mayfair. (more…)

These are the first images of Maserati's new GT Coupe, revealed ahead of the car's official debut at next month's Geneva Motor Show. The stunning lines were penned by Italian design studio Pininfarina, clearly taking inspiration from Maserati's larger Quattroporte sedan. A near-perfect 49/51 weight distribution combined with an upgraded 400hp 4.2L V8 motor is sure to provide scintillating performance.Just like the Quattroporte saloon, the new coupe gets a modern take on the Buickesque three-hole side vents with a sharper more angular appearance. Muscular flared wheel arches house huge multispoke alloys featuring Masearti's trademark trident logo. The new interior, which was also designed by Pininfarina, features a leather lined dash and center console that runs the entire length of the cabin, while the conventional handbrake is replaced with a foot operated pedal next to the brake.
