SECOND FILM ON MARVIN GAYE BY F.GARY GRAY
By  Wilson Morales (BlackVoices) Apparently one film is not enough. After years of coming up with the right script and finding the right guy to play the part, the Marvin Gaye film is going to be told in two versions. Variety states that F. Gary Gray will direct ‘Marvin,’ a biopic of Marvin Gaye, the iconic singer who [...]

Marvin Gaye - The Very Best of Motown 2001 (0 puntos)

Marvin Gaye “Got To Give It Up”
I just realized that I haven’t put any Marvin Gaye up on this blog yet. I have no idea how that could’ve happened. Here is a live performance of Got To Give It Up. I know you’ll want to dance during this one. Don’t be shy. “Let’s dance. Let’s shout. Gettin’ funky’s what it’s all [...]

Marvin Gaye & Kim Weston - It Takes Two (1966)
One of the most gifted, visionary, and enduring talents ever launched into orbit by the Motown hit machine, Marvin Gaye blazed the trail for the continued evolution of popular black music. Moving from lean, powerful R&B to stylish, sophisticated soul to finally arrive at an intensely political and personal form of artistic self-expression, his work not only redefined soul music as a creative force but also expanded its impact as an agent for social change.Marvin Pentz Gay, Jr. (in the style of his hero Sam Cooke, he added the "e" to his surname as an adult) was born April 2, 1939, in Washington, D.C. The second of three children born to the Reverend Marvin Gay, Sr., an ordained minister in the House of God -- a conservative Christian sect that fuses elements of orthodox ... Number 611 - Marvin Gaye
Number 611Marvin Gaye"I Heard it Through The Grapevine"(1968)..Genre:SoulThe Big Chill movie soundtrack introduced me to a genre of music from beyond my time. As American Graffiti did for the kids in the the 70s with their 50's rock n roll so did Big Chill for us kids in 1983 with their 60's music. Sure the movie was great, but the music was better and i have often wondered if the Soundtrack made more money than the movie.A year after i saw this film (yessss & bought the soundtrack of course) Marvin Gaye was dead, shot by his own father in an argument no less and get this, his father was a Minister. Which always reminds me when parents yell at their kids "I bought you into this world and i will take you out of this world if you don't behave"I guess at 44, Marvin was to old to be sent to his room (he was living with his parents when he died), personally, I'd prefer to be kicked out of home than being shot in the head. Mind you I'm not 44 yet (& no, i don't live at home)Apr 2 1
