      New Marshmallow Maker.
Look, don't allow your children to read this article because you will surely accuse me of depleting your wallet. You too would like to buy this new Marshmallow maker. Why, you may even eat the share of one of your children if the marshmallow is not liked by them.I know some people don't like the rubbery feel of Marshmallow in their mouth. My husband loves marshmallow. The machine you see above is not a toy. It makes real marshmallow in minutes in the shapes of Chicks, bunnies and star.As per wikipedia, Marshmallows were originally made with the extract of the homonymous plant (marsh mallow) acting as a gelling agent. But, these days, marshmallows are made from gelatin which again is sourced from animal hides.Mr. Badri (my husband), please take a note of this and stop eating Marshmallow. For s

1 marshmallow or 2? A study on the benefits of delayed gratification
While listening to the book, Crucial Conversations a few weeks back, the authors discussed a study that was done in the 1960’s by Standford University psychology researcher Michael Mischel. His study demonstrated how important self-discipline is to success. The study began with a group of children 4 years old. He optionally offered them [...]

      Crafting the Marshmallow PEEPS Carousel
Some people see sugary marshmallow chicks and think, "Look, dessert!" Me, I'm the sicko who thinks, "Hm, what I can glue them to?"Actually, I'd been wanting to try my hand at making a cardboard Christmas village house, ever since I got my hands on some vintage-style cottages for the winter holidays. But when I realized there were extra Marshmallow Peeps lurking from last Easter's Peep Garland project just going to waste (er... curing) (click here if you'd missed that), ... well, the project took a suddenly Peeposterous turn."Why not build a cardboard carousel?" my brain mused. "In Easter colors! With Peeps Chicks instead of horses! And marshmallow rabbit onlookers?!"(Yes, total suspension of disbelief is one of the primary rules for effective Peep crafting.)The first step was to get the c

      Recipe: Deluxe Chocolate Marshmallow Squares
This recipe is one of my favorites! I don't know what it is about the topping, but the chocolate and rice krispy combination is fantastic! Christmas, Easter, Marshmallow Peeps, and Me
Today we present another article from a Candy Addict reader. This one is from a reader named Monica: Whilst on an emergency Listerine run to CVS today (which I hate to do because it costs, like, twice as much as Target but hey, a self-proclaimed Candy Addict’s gotta take care of her pearly whites – oral care is no joking matter, my friend), I somehow managed to find myself – gingivitis’s enemy in arm – wandering down the Christmas aisle, looking for a holiday treat. Scanning the shelves, I weighed my seasonal options: Chocolate snowman? Boring. Reese’s Christmas tree? York snowflake? I do love candy with a festive shape, but not today. Candy Cane Hershey’s Kisses? Intriguing… Gingerbread Man Marshmallow Peeps? Sacrilege! Oh the fury! The rage! The adorable, delicious rage! Despite Just Born’s shameless holiday whoring of their Peeps, it is my personal belief (hey, if you don’t believe in something…) that they should be consumed exclusively at Easter (

      Marshmallow-Chocolate Mud Cookies
That chocolate chunks go best in cookies is a well-known fact, but another such ingredient which enhances the flavor of cookies is Marshmallow. Yes, that tiny white, soft and chewy ingredient that imparts taste and texture to your cookies! Mud Cookies are traditionally loaded with chocolate, both dark and white, and are baked a little more than regular cookies to give them the dark brown mud-like color. But don't go by the comparision to mud - it ends in the name!! The mud-cookies are very tasty, not too sweet, and make for lovely goodie-boxes for the festive season! This recipe is adapted from Paula Dean's show on Food Network.Ingredients1 cup semisweet chocolate chips1/2 cup butter, softened1 cup sugar2 large eggs1 tspn vanilla1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour1 tspn baking powder1/2 tspn salt1 cup chopped pecans1/2 cup milk chocolate chunks1 cup mini marshmallows (optional)MethodMicrowave semisweet chocolate morsels in a small microwave-safe glass bowl at HIGH for 1 minute, stirring ever

Sturdy Birds: The Invention of Marshmallow Peeps(r)
They come every Easter, like a little beady-eyed army. They come in many shapes - baby chicks, bunnies and other animals. And according to some urban legends, they're virtually indestructible. We're talking about Marshmallow Peeps(r), either the most delicious or most disgusting Easter candy ever invented (depending on who you ask). In honor of the Easter holiday, InventHelp(r) presents the story of Peeps, perhaps the most unusual candy to grace the Easter basket.

I can't decide if Myriam is a genius or pure evil. (meant nicely, of course.) As I love chocolate, and I love brownies, I thought her BrownieBabe concept was fantastic (the genius part). News from the gooey marshmallow perspective
I teared up when I read this article about long marriages:Although some of their peers have traded in spouses and struggled to blend families, mortgaged themselves to divorce lawyers and haggled over who got the kids at Christmas, Joyce and Michael Steier of Bowie have lasted 30 years and raised four children."It's a whole mindset," said Joyce, 54, as she sat waiting for the ceremony to begin, Michael's arm around her. "You know that you're committed. Everybody has their ups and downs, but you know that you're going to stay together."That same attitude has kept Betty and Ray Lankford, 81-year-olds who own a plumbing business on Solomons Island, going during their 62 years of marriage. (Her father predicted it wouldn't last.)Their only fights, they said, were about the kids. But they had 10 kids. So, Ray said, they had an agreement. "Never go to bed mad and always kiss and make up," he said. "And when you get up in the morning, say, 'I love you.' "***Bent and gray-haired, their wal

      Toasted Marshmallow Lollipop
A marshmallow on a twig, you say? How innovative is this? Haven’t thousands of campers already experienced the simple pleasure of roasting marshmallows over an open fire, you say? Look closer, because the twig is made of plastic and the marshmallow stuck at the end of it is actually a lollipop! Imagine enjoying this treat and having people ask you why you’re sucking on a yucky-looking stick. Then you’d smile mellowly, pop the end out of your mouth, and show off your marshmallow-shaped lollipop to your astonished friends! Since the “marshmallow” is actually hard candy, I don’t know how well this would actually roast. Actually, it would probably melt before it turned brown and crispy. And there’s no easy way to concoct a s’more out of it. But it’s a marshmallow lollipop, and probably much more convenient (and safer?) than trying to chomp down on a real marshmallow stuck on the end of a dirty old twig. The real question is: does the l

      Marshmallow Peep Research
We all know that smoking and drinking can be bad for humans, but what about for Marshmallow Peeps? Extensive research was conducted in the late 90’s to determine the impact of these vices on the fragile, yet delicious, Easter treats.Smoking:Even though the Peep finished half a camel, it showed no signs of coughing or lung damage. Fearing a backlash for giving cigarettes to “young chicks”, researchers stopped their study after a single smoke instead of giving the purple peep a 500-pack case as originally planned.Drinking:Once again, the peep showed surprising resiliency. After being given 8 shots of 190 proof alcohol, there were no noticeable physical changes to the peep, although at one point it began swimming on its side and bumping into the glass walls.Smoking and Drinking:Researchers were stunned at the peep’s hardiness, so they decided to get the peep ready for a night out on the town by testing its reaction to the combination of smoking and drinking. After only a few minute

      Candy Review: Disney Marshmallow Treats
Editor’s note: This review was written and submitted by a reader named Jenny! Thanks, Jenny, for the great review! I remember when I was a kid and the prospect of getting my favorite candies - only in pastel - along with a lot of jelly beans that I would only have to pick the black ones out of was so thrilling I could hardly contain myself. It was the penultimate if I got one of those bird’s nest things, you know, the green chocolate-covered coconut rounds with three jelly beans (eggs) in the middle? Then as the years went by I got bored with the same old pink and yellow Peeps and jelly beans that started arriving in stores too hard to eat by the time they got there (and besides that, except for the generic brands, they never have lime! Green is always apple or melon! What’s up with that?). Recently though (in the last 3-4 years), I’ve been getting excited again because they’ve been coming out with some really intriguing stuff. My boyfriend, who w
