Mike Reagan published a great piece in NewsMax on The Haditha Marines, below are some excerpts from his article:You'd hardly know it if you relied on the mainstream media, but the government's case against the Haditha Marines took another body blow last Friday that may be the beginning of the end for this whole sorry attempt to severely punish eight heroic United States Marines for doing what they are trained to do. In a surprise development on the day Lance Cpl. Stephen Tatum's court-martial was scheduled to begin, all charges against him were dropped without explanation. Tatum, facing charges of reckless endangerment and aggravated assault that couldhave sent him to prison for 18 years, was the fifth Marine - and the second of three enlisted men - to be exonerated, leaving only one enlis

Seriously I'm not a fan of puppies or dogs eversince I was a kid. I'm just afraid that they might eat me up or something. I swear! You know, I have this sorta phobia that always act up whenever I saw either one of them. The one thing which you people don't know is, I will grab my friend's hand and hold them tight. When I say grab, I mean hell grab until it leaves a mark on their hands. Ask them! Ask whoever with me all the time! But hey, I still love the way they look (puppies and dogs). They are cute creatures, yes?So yeap, I just realised that one fucking US Marine actually threw a puppy off a cliff recently in war-torn Iraq! Oh my god!(I don't watch teevee! The Marine Corps is pressing to remove its forces from Iraq and to send marines instead to Afghanistan, to take over the leading role in combat there, according to senior military and Pentagon officials. The idea by the Marine Corps commandant would effectively leave the Iraq war in the hands of the army while giving the Marines a prominent new role in Afghanistan, under overall NATO command. Its supporters argue that a realignment could allow the army and Marines each to operate more efficiently in sustaining troop levels for two wars that have put a strain on their forces. At the moment, there are no major Marine units among the 26,000 or so American forces in Afghanistan. In Iraq there are about 25,000 marines among the 160,000 American troops there.

I think that Kos is fudging a bit here in what he is presenting to us. He is saying that the military is investigating Marines for attending a war protests in cammos. As well they should, its illegal. But the pic in the article shows a guy with a beard and Kos says hes a veteran, NOT active duty, leaving you with the impression that he is the one being investigated for wearing cammos to the protest. And obviously the military isnt going to be investigating someone wearing cammos at a political event thats not active duty because thats not illegal! And of course the Kos Kids are eating up his every word. Something stinks here and as is usual for libs Kos doesn't produce a shred of evidence to back up his claims. Not a single link to indicate the military is actually trying to prosecute a veteran for wearing a uniform to a political event. How about some proof Kos? ~RJH Daily Kos article link Marines investigates Iraq vet for wearing cammos at protest by kos Sat Jun 02, 20

Ramadi, Iraq -- The scout-sniper platoon from 3rd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, left the ground behind as they took to the skies to hunt for weapon caches and insurgents. As part of the aeroscout mission, the Marines travel by helicopter to areas not normally checked because of their remote locations.
“The average size group for this type of mission is usually two platoons. We’re doing it with about half,” said 1st Lt. Jordan D. Reese, the executive officer for Weapons Company, 3/7. “We train constantly, so that we are comfortable with each other. The Marin

I was in such a gay mood after that huge victory, that I couldn’t help but tell everybody how gay I was right then! That evening was the last time I ever talked to him, for he mysteriously stopped calling after that…I’ve never figured out why…

The marines were searching for kidnapped priest Giancarlo Bossi when they were attacked by peaceful Muslims:
Islamic militants in the southern Philippines have killed 14 marines, beheading 10 of them, a military spokesman has said.
Nine other marines were wounded and at least four rebels were killed during the incident on Basilan island.
The clash took place as the marines were searching for an Italian priest.
The priest was seized in June by kidnappers believed to be from either Abu Sayyaf or the Moro Islamic Liberation Front.
...
A spokesman for the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) later confirmed that some its members had been involved in the clash, despite the fact the MILF is currently engaged in peace talks with the government.
...
But he denied that the MILF was responsible for the beheadings, or that it was involved in the kidnapping of the priest.

Blue Star Dad Organizes West Coast Motorcycle Run to Show Support for the Haditha Marines: June 23-28A motorcycle ride is being organized to start at Seattle, Washington and finish at the Main Gate of Camp Pendleton, Oceanside California. The main compliment of riders will be veterans of all branches of our military who are fed up with the way the Marine Corps and the political community are treating the Marines, mainly the men of Kilo Company, 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, the “Thundering Third.” These Marines fought in Haditha and returned home the champions that they are, only to find themselves indicted on charges from murder to cover-up. These charges have stemmed from an incorrect article in Time Magazine, as well as some politicians who seem to have jumped to conclusions without stopping to get facts. The facts were brought forth by men, such as a Bronze Star winning Intelligence Officer who viewed the whole incident by unmanned camera aircraft and accumulated log boo

One of the true ironies of the 21-year-old drinking age is that we have young men and women fighting for this country that cannot legally walk into a tavern and have a drink. They are old enough to pay the ultimate price in the eyes of our government, but not old enough to buy a drink. The Marine Corps has recognized that someone mature enough to storm a building occupied by al-Qaeda or Taliban fighters surely can have a glass of beer, wine or spirits. The Marines have ruled that service members as young as 18 can have a drink of alcohol on Marine bases on special occasions.Marine Corps Commandant Gen. James Conway signed the order, which allows local commanders to designate Marine Corps birthday celebrations and home coming parties after combat deployments as special occasions where drinking will be allowed. In 1995 the U.S. Defense Department told each branch of the service that drinking ages on bases should conform to local laws. Some are protesting the move, including Mothers Against
HADITHA- EXONERATE OUR MARINESThe Marines and families of the Haditha Marines- Our Marines- need this travesty to end. The higher echelon of the Corps, namely Lt Gen James Mattis, needs to put a swift end to this miscarriage of military justice. These seven brave Marines have endured enough. They were part of one of the finest infantry battalions in the Marine Corps, "The Thundering Third." Two of its members have earned the Navy Cross. Dozens have been awarded Silver Stars and Bronze Stars for heroism. They are all heroes. Their return from Iraq in the spring of 2006 was subdued by the cloud of these baseless charges. It is time to free them of this burden. The evidence has finally seen the light of day. The May 17th ramblings of a US Congressman have proven false. John Murtha lied about his briefing by the Commandant of the Marine Corps before his May 17th "in cold blood" statement. Gen Michael Hagee provided a progress update on the Haditha investigations to Congressional leaders, t
Recently, the Mayor of Haditha, Abdul Hakim M. Rasheed , had asked the Marines there not to leave. The Mayor stated: "The people of Germany and Japan would not have made progress without the Americans," Mayor Abdul Hakim M. Rasheed told the U.S. Marine officers who recently came to his heavily guarded home. "The people of Iraq deserve the same."The Marines, including three generals, assured Rasheed that they had no plans to abandon him and his city. Don't be distracted by the political debate in Washington, they urged Rasheed, who listened and nodded.Since 2004, Iraq's western al-Anbar province -- the center of the Sunni-led insurgency -- has been the most dangerous part of the country for U.S. forces. But Marines here have been experiencing a respite in recent weeks. Attacks against Marines and soldiers are at their lowest point in four years. In the six weeks since his battalion arrived, Lt. Col. James Bierman, commanding officer of the 1st regiment, 3rd infantry, has seen only fiv
This is a great commercial. It punches hard with two fists. On the one hand the Marines are tough, mission-accomplishing soldiers able to inspire fear in the enemy (the devil-dog reference). On the other hand, the Marines accomplish those missions for a good purpose and even have a soft side (the kids in the street). Perfect. The commercial makes the case that being a Marine is something to be proud of. It appeals to vanity, but also to duty and excellence. As much as it bothers me to say, Good Job Ja...umm, I mean Marines.
Convincing evidence that corroborates NewsMax.com's accounts of the Haditha insurgent ambush has compelled the prosecution to take extraordinary steps to bolster their crumbling case. The stunning announcement that all charges are being dropped against Sgt. Sanick P. Dela Cruz, formerly accused of murder in the Haditha incident where 24 Iraqis were killed during an insurgent ambush against the Marines, is indication that the prosecutors have a very weak case against all the defendants, lawyers for the some of the accused say.In a nutshell, the case exploded when an intelligence officer dropped a bombshell on prosecutors during a pre-hearing interview when he revealed the existence of exculpatory evidence that appears to have been obtained by the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) and withheld from the prosecutors. This officer, described by senior Marine Corps superiors as one of the best and most dedicated intelligence officers in the entire Marine Corps, was in possession of
Marine leaders here told Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates that they are "cautiously optimistic" about the situation in Anbar province during a briefing today. Gates called the situation in the once very violent province, "a good news story," during a news conference afterward. "(Anbar) is a place where the Iraqis have decided to take control of their future and the sheiks have played a key role in making good things happen out here," Gates said, "along with the Iraqi police and the Iraqi army with our help." While Gates was attending meetings and briefings, Brig. Gen. Mark Gurganus, ground combat element commander for Multinational Force West, spoke with press traveling with Gates. Gurganus said conditions in Anbar have turned for the better. He said violence is down, tribal leaders and sheikhs of the province are signing on with the government, and the Iraqis are taking on the security mission in the province. He also said construction projects are moving ahead, and that bodes well f
It looks like Hillary will be raked over the coals over another lil white lie she has told. Supposedly she said she had attempted to enlist in the marines just before marrying Bill Clinton and the recruiters laughed and sent her on her way. Now that sounds exactly the way Marine recruiters would act in her skewed world view of a hateful military. But in reality? Well, it's hard to tell where reality ends and the Clinton imagination begins.I think this is right up there with her claim that she was named after Sir Edmund Hillary.
Who cares about Ahmadinejad's blustery rhetoric? I'm guessing showing up the British is a big deal to some Iranians. Telling us about "family values" was interesting; it's actually a real issue, but I imagine it was Turney's choice, so there. Tony Blair telling the Iranians he bears them no ill will was acceptable -nobody hates the Iranian people just like nobody hates the Iraqis or the North Koreans.
Who won? The British won or, at least, they didn't lose. Iran didn't help themselves at all as they reinforced opposition to themselves, although it's still a weak opposition.
The captured sailors should lose. They were an embarrassment to their nation and should be ignored if not punished when they arrive.

OCEANSIDE, Calif. - Five tattooed skulls stretch from Marine Cpl. Jeremy Slaton’s right elbow to his wrist, spelling out the word “Death.” He planned to add a tattoo spelling “Life” on his left arm, but that’s on hold because of a Marine policy taking effect Sunday.
The Marines are banning any new, extra-large tattoos below the elbow or the knee, saying such body art is harmful to the Corps’ spit-and-polish image.
Slaton and other grunts are not pleased.
“I guess I’ll get the other half later,” grumbled the 24-year-old leatherneck from Eden Prairie, Minn. “It’s kind of messed up.”
For many Marines, getting a tattoo is a rite of passage. They commonly get their forearms inscribed to remember fallen comrades, combat tours or loved ones, and often ask for exotic designs that incorporate the Marine motto, Semper Fi, or “Always faithful.”

This is a difficult situation. It reminds me of when, early in Bush's presidency, the Chinese captured an American airplane. The situation was resolved, but China stretched it out for maximum propaganda value. If Iran cares little about angering Britain, Britain will be in a tough spot. I don't think the Brits want to spend resources to force Iran's hand, but I don't think allowing Iran to keep its soldiers will sit well with a country that's still willing to fight. This will probably end with some back-room deal that allows both countries to save face.Iran can gain some leverage with the West by stretching out this crises and then "magnanimously" free the Marines.

Royal Marines in 'Operation Volcano' clearing a Taliban base near the Kajaki Hyro-electric dam in Afghanistan.
British military authorities say that 25 insurgent compounds have been cleared from the area around a major dam in Afghanistan.
Operation Volcano was aimed at creating a safe zone around the Kajaki Dam so that the structure can be repaired, The Telegraph reported. The dam in northern Helmand Province is capable of providing electric power for 1.8 million people.
The dam has been "the site of regular insurgent mortar attacks over the past two months and civilians have been forced from their homes leaving the dam largely unserviceable," a military statement said.
During the six-week campaign, British commandos also came under mortar attack regularly.
British officials hope that restarting the dam will improve the lives of people living in Helmand Province, now Afghanistan's major opium-producing area.
If you’re a homosexual American and you decide you want to serve your country, you may want to think twice. You may also want to think twice if you’re not homosexual, but possibly for different reasons.
You see, it turns out that under American law, homosexual military personnel are subject to immediate discharge. Hopefully it’s not a dishonourable discharge, but at this point I wouldn’t be too surprised. So an unknown number of American military personnel are currently serving under a policy that’s become known as "don’t ask, don’t tell", choosing to serve in silence instead of facing discharge from a job I can only assume they must love dearly to continue serving even though they know they face immediate discharge if they’re found out. Even soldiers with critical skills aren’t safe from this policy.
So once again, there’s a bill proposed to remove this discriminatory ban on homosexuals serving their country. P
November 10 is the 231st birthday of the U.S. Marine Corps; it was founded on 10 November 1775. Possibly predictive of things to come, that took place in a bar, Tun Tavern in Philadelphia, after the Continental Congress authorized the raising of two battalions of Marines to serve on ships as snipers in ship-to-ship battles, storm troops for boarding parties and beach landings, and MPs aboard ship. Since then the Corps has maintained a focus on amphibious operations, as well as on operating on a shoestring (the USMC is part of the Department of the Navy, and although it makes up about 25% of the people in that Department, it operates on much less than a quarter of the Navy Department budget. The Navy buys the aircraft the Marines fly and funds their maintenance, but other than that, the Corps gets less than 5% of the Department’s budget. We personify that phrase about having done so much with so little for so long that we are now qualified to do anything instantly with nothin

The reporting by Dutch daily de Volkskrant on the alleged mistreatment of Iraqi detainees by the Dutch Military Intelligence and Security Service (MIVD) in Al-Muthanna in 2003 continues. To start with, last Friday de Volkskrant reported that the MIVD had "tortured' dozens of Iraqi prisoners. Today's edition of the newspaper states that the marines also raided houses, although they weren't authorized to do so. But even more remarkable is the following. On his weblog (in Dutch, CV) defence minister Henk Kamp condemned previous Volkskrant reporting on the detainee issue, for the newspaper had failed to mention that military police (marechaussee) had investigated the issue and had propounded it to the the Counsel for the Prosecution ("Openbaar Ministerie' or "OM'). The OM, in turn, had concluded on the basis of the marechaussee investigation that criminal investigation was unnecessary. But today's edition of de Volkskrant includes a report that undermines the minister's
