In 2006 the National Civic League named the city of Marietta one of the nations 10 best communities! The City of Marietta, it is located conveniently just outside the Perimeter and is just minutes away from I-75, Cobb Galleria , downtown Atlanta, and Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.
My husband and business partner, Tim Cowan, and I live and work in this great All- American City! As proud residents of Marietta, we are so excited at the new growth that is developing around us!
As I was reading the quarterly issue of Blue Print, the official publication of the City of Marietta that is sent to all business owners and residents that live and/or work within the city limits, I decided I needed to share my enthusiasm on the upcoming improvements and growth that is coming to our great city!

Six sidewalk projects have been started or planned for streets in Marietta. Funding was established by a 1 percent Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST). Here’s a list of the streets and when construction should occur.
Rigby Street from Lawrence Street to North Fairground Street: September 24 through October 18
Allgood Road (North Side) from Emerald Glen to East Park Street: October 10 through November 9
Cameron Creek from Allgood Road to Crown Terrace: November 5 through December 3
Laurel Springs Lane (East Side) from Chestnut Hill Road to Powder Springs Road: November 16 through December 7
Polk Street Extension (West Side) from Westborough Road to Whitlock Avenue: December 3 through December 19
St. Anne’s Road (East Side) from Kennesaw Avenue to Atwood Drive: December 13, 2007 through January 10, 2008
A development group announced, today, that a $100 million mixed use development will be built in Marietta on a 20 acre build site along Powder Springs Street between Garrison Road and Sandtown Road. The development will consist of about 1/3 high end residential housing. Also included, will be a national grocery chain, although which national chain will reside their has not yet been determined.
I do not have the exact breakdown of what’s going to be built in the Marietta Mercantile Exchange. So far I have seen announcements for class A office space, high-end residential flats and townhomes and a “neighborhood retail mix”.
