Updating an earlier post on B-List Yanks abroad, I finally have the full story (hehe) on Marcus Storey and his status with German Oberliga (fourth division) side TuS 1906 Hueslingen. The University of North Carolina grad was apparently acquired by Hueslingen at the start of the season but never joined the team.That will change next month, according to Storey's German lawyer/agent Bernd Floris Flor with whom I exchanged emails this week. Flor wrote that Storey will be eligible to play for Hueslingen starting in January. The club was late in submitting the proper requests with Major League Soccer, who apparently still held Storey's rights last summer? Can that be true? The Chicago native was the 20th overall pick in the 2005 SuperDraft by the Columbus Crew. He was traded to the Houston Dynamo prior to the 2006 season and then reportedly cut in the 2007 pre-season.

Neiman Marcus is celebrating its past with a look into the future. To mark its 100th anniversary, the luxury retailer asked leading fashion designers to create what they see as the future of fashion. The results — everything from a black and white sequined pantsuit embellished with an enormous bow by Giorgio Armani, to a silvery evening gown from Valentino — are on display at the company’s flagship store beginning Saturday. The creations from about two dozen designers are part of a shimmering display among jewelry and purses on the store’s ground floor. Maccabi Tel Aviv is stacking the deck for its Madison Square Garden showdown against the Knicks this fall. Marcus Fizer, the former #4 overall pick and 2005 NDBL MVP, will join the team’s already potent lineup. Last season Fizer played for Polaris World Murcia in the Spanish league, and his 18.9 ppg would have won the scoring title if he played in one more game. The Foreshadowing by Marcus Sedgwick. Another in the ALA Reading Challenge.Let me say first that I don't really feel like reviewing this book. I'm coming off an intense blog tour for Karen Hancock's latest release, I have a to-do list with no end in sight, and I'm now getting over a head cold. But, I can't move on to the next book on my list until I write something about this one, and I want to read the next, so ...I found this book disturbing, and I'm still not sure why. The premise is fascinating, if a bit of a stretch. Seventeen-year-old Alexandra masquerades as a nurse along the front lines during WWI. Why? She had a premonition that her brother would be killed. She's had such premonitions before, always of death, and they have always come to pass. Yet for some reason, she feels this death she might be able to prevent.The book is creepy. There's an awful lot of death, a lot of violence, sometimes graphic. All things that don't bother me, usually.It's an atmospheric book.

According to Bulldog Reporter, Neiman Marcus is suing Domain companies Name.com and Spot Domains for improperly registering more than 40 Internet addresses that resemble the department store chain’s trademarks. Basically, the companies use the 5-day refund period to fill these mock sites full of ad’s and then enjoy the revenue from people who don’t know any better and actually click on those affiliate/ad block type pages. This sneaky little process is called Domain Tasting. Experts estimate that up to 6 million names are tied up at any given time through domain name tasting, thanks to computer automation and a burgeoning online advertising market.

Att Charlotte Kalla har slagit igenom vid skid-VM har säkert inte undgått så många sportintresserade vid det här laget. Men det finns en annan åkare som jag ärligt talat inte visste vem han var före VM som också slagit igenom på allvar. Det handlar om Marcus Hellner som gjorde en fantastisk debut i det svenska stafettlaget i morse. Han blev i och för sig nia i det där snöiga loppet över 15 km i veckan, men det tog jag inte på allvar efter det lotteri som den tävlingen handlade om. According the Miami Herald,Falcon's quarterback, Michael Vick was about to board a plane at the Miami International Aiport, when security at the Concourse G checkpoint asked him to surrender his water bottle, which had an Aquafina label. Security regulations prohibit travelers from carrying bottles with more than 3 ounces of liquid through checkpoints.After many requests, Vick eventually left the bottle behind and went to his gate. But after his initial reluctance to give up the bottle it aroused the suspicion of Transportation Security Administration screener Gertrude Joseph. She then pulled the bottle out of a recycle bin and notified her supervisor when she discovered what appeared to be a secret compartment that had a substance inside that smelled alot like marijuana.At this point, the police are still reviewing the evidence and no charges have been filed, but that could be changed after a drug test is run on the substance found in the bottle.
