Larry Kudlow has simply lost touch…. and possibly his marbles too.Typically, I tune in to Larry’s show for a dose of his trademark “Keeping America Great” or “Goldilocks Economy” Bullhoooey sentiment or even a segment or two including those complete fools Jerry Bowyer and Don Luskin, which, paradoxically, taken together seems to motivate me to keep blogging the data behind this epic cr

So, I'm looking up information on marbles (I have my reasons) and run into a video by Blendtec demonstrating that their blender can powderize marbles. This is sort of like those ads for knives that can cut through copper pipes--does anybody really need a blender that can destroy anything? I mean, I'm only planning to blend food in there.

There’s a nicely written piece about traditional games on Time Magazine’s website with the author describing how he and his primary schoolmates played marbles in the playground in the 1970s. No doubt he thinks that makes him sound old, but I could have written the same about my primary school in the 1950s and I [...]

Marbles, I see them online selling for in lots for hundreds of dollars, yet when I take some great close ups of a large lot that we just got in we get no action on a $10 starting bid. What's the deal? A lot of these looked like hand blown glassware that everyones after but I wasn't sure. Are there name brands? Should I be loking for markings like Ground Pontils? Please, no "I've lost my Marbles" jokes.
The story goes that these "porcelain" marbles are from the Civil War era and were dug up while excavating in the City of Atlanta in preparation for the Olympics. However, the story is a hoax, and curiously enough, these 3/4" marbles appear to be painted steel balls. I'd throw them away, but they actually make me smile. Who knows, maybe I'll still throw them away?! :)
These were made by Vacor de Mexico, distributed by Mega Marbles and sold in Holland. Measuring 1 1/4", Looney Tunes Tasmanian Devil is everybody's favorite.

A quintessential artist, Nathan Miers is one of about a dozen young and very talented glass artists living here on the West Coast. Working from his Eye Candy Arts studio in Northern CA, his marbles are an amazing display of color and space. The vortex marbles pictured are but a small sample of Nathan's work, and like all artists profiled on this webpage, I cannot recommend his work highly enough. To view Nathan's website CLICK HERE.
Vitro Agate was one of the first marble companies to "frost" marbles using a lightweight acid. Sometimes also called acid-washed or beach glass marbles, they were first produced in the late 1950s.

How do you maximize the chance that a red marble will be chosen? (You must place all 100 marbles in the jars.)What is the chance of selecting a red marblewhen using your scheme?

No, actually I haven’t! Walking backwards or jogging backwards on the treadmill works muscles in an entirely different way than walking forwards. Specifically, by walking backwards on the treadmill (especially on an incline) you engage the quad muscles (front of thigh) and calves to a great extent. Ideally, as with any type of treadmill [...]

I am at the moment testing the water to see how it all works and for this reason will only post to Australia. Well that is if I do manage to get a bid. This painting isn't hot off the easel, but painted some time back with the idea of selling on eBay and ended up confused with the whole thing and shelved the idea. What I mean by confused is art sellers leaving eBay and selling their work elsewhere or privately through their blogs and websites. I am hearing that this has escalated in recent months. eBay fees do gobble up small profit on sales so I am going in with my

First Marblehead helps banks like Bank of America Corp. and JPMorgan Chase & Co. package students loans into pools and sell them as bonds. This painting is part of a new series that started a few weeks ago. I was digging around for some light bulbs for my Dinning room light fixture when I thought of an idea to paint these rather simple but yet intriguing subject.Click Here to BidI know that light bulbs have been a subject for many artist so I figure I would add my twist. I just love the subtle neutral colors contrasting again the high reflective and colorful objects on the dish.
I was fixing breakfast this morning when the wailing sound started upstairs and began moving toward me. Louder and higher and more shrill--living proof of the Doppler Effect--until it was right behind me, echoing around the kitchen."What's wrong Lily?""I can't find my sweater!" (sob, hiccup, sob)."Well go look for it, it's probably where you last left it.""But I can't find it anywhere!""Yes, well as I haven't moved it and I am one of the few in the house who consider a sweater to be out of place on the floor I can pretty much guarantee you that it hasn't moved from the last spot where you dumped it. No one else would have bothered to pick it up and it has, in fact, probably sprouted roots by now. Go look."One minute later--exactly enough time for her to turn around, walk up the stairs, down the hall, step six inches over the threshold of her bedroom and take one full breath of bedroom air--and she's back in the kitchen crying."It's lost! I was at the corner grocery store buying some early potatoes. I noticed a small boy, delicate of bone and feature, ragged but clean, hungrily looking over a basket of freshly picked green peas. I paid for my potatoes but was also drawn to the display of fresh green peas. I am a pushover for creamed peas and new potatoes. Pondering the peas, I couldn't help overhearing the conversation between Mr. Miller (the store owner) and the ragged boy next to me. "Hello Barry, how are you today?" "H'lo, Mr. Miller. Fine, thank ya. Jus' admirin' them peas. They sure look good." "They are good, Barry. How's your Ma?" "Fine. Gittin' stronger alla' time." "Good. Anything I can help you with?""No, Sir. Jus' admirin' them peas.""Would you like to take some home?" asked Mr. Miller. "No, Sir. Got nuthin' to pay for 'em with." "Well, what have you to trade me for some of those peas?" "All I got's my prize marble here.""Is that right? Let me see it." said Miller. "Here 'tis. She's a dandy." "I

Here's something new for Uranium 'Vaseline' Marble fans. We've put together a special package of 4 marbles in a tube, together with one ultraviolet keyring torch in a choice of two colours – blue or green.
Of course, it is not as dangerous as real uranium. The marbles have been injected by a very small amount of that element. Which is even not enough to get super powers, catalyzed by a spider-bite or something similar.
I came across the so called Craigentinny Marbles on my way to Portobello last weekend. It was so weird to see this grand classical style mausoleum in the middle of streets of 1930s bungalows. William Henry Miller, who owned the then Craigentiny estate wanted to be buried in the open fields rather than in a churchyard. In 1848 that may have been the case, maybe now he may be reconsidering, thinking that a graveyard might now be a more appropriate setting than a housing estate. The Miller Masoleum has bas relief sculptures of biblical scenes on 2 sides. Miller requested that he was buried at a depth of 40 feet, prompting rumours about his gender due to a slim build, weak voice and lack of facial hair. If he was buried so deeply there would be little opportunity for grave robbers to strike.
Have you ever some across a similarly incongruous setting for a building?
This still life painting is of two vibrant marbles - one of my favorite subjects. What makes this painting a little different that some of my other marble paintings is the light. The canvas plays an important role in the illiuminousity in this still life. The painting is rich in detail and vibrancy.View my auction
I can't seem to get enough of this subject. Marbles are perhaps the most enjoyable and fun subject for me to paint. The play of light, refraction and color makes this painting realistic and surreal. This painting, with its shade of blue, plays on the visual eye to give the impression of high reflective qualities. The air bubbles are my favorite!Click Here to BidThis particular still life is 8" x 10" but I intend to someday paint a huge canvas with this subject matter. I received numerous emails from people who are craving for me to paint a large painting. I seem to enjoy the smaller and more intimate scale for the moment.
