Manor Park Allotments, came under increasing pressure from the London Development Agency (LDA) as works commenced on the 2012 Olympics and looked like they would lose their 100 year old growing plots. However, it seems that this may have been averted now as allotmenteers are offered an alternative until the Olympics have come and gone.
GTNI first mentioned this story back in February when Manor Park gardeners were begging for people to sign their petitions.
The LDA originally proposed an alternative venue but when it couldn't be secured they reneged on their promise and ordered that allotment owners leave their plots empty-handed. The Manor Park allotmenteers then sought legal advice and planned to sue the LDA in London's High Court.
Well, it seems the LDA has finally taken a more gentle approach and has secured land in Marsh Lane Waltham Forest. However, while there are 64 plots to be made available at this new site, 80 will be bulldozed at Manor Park. Still, it seems this ma

I am a sucker for great packaging. In particular, I cannot resist buying beauty products that come in pretty bottles or containers with cute labeling. However, all the great packaging in the world won't get me to become loyal to a brand if the product doesn't live up to the fancy labeling. The soap bars, available in a variety of regular and seasonal (but all uniquely different and yummy) scents, are packaged in a sheer "jacket" with a really cute label (as you can see from the photo above taken by me!). The Alpharetta city counsel unanimously approved the annexation of Bershire Manor into the city Monday night. The final hurdle for the subdivision will occur Monday night, November 27th at a second hearing on the approval. If final approval is given, residents of Bekshire Manor will become citizens of the city of Alpharetta on December 1st. Standing in the way at last nights hearing were issues regarding the costs of repaving the streets within the community and ther necessity to hire an additonal four police officers to handle the number of residents that will be brought in to the city. Residents of Berkshire Manor believe that becoming a part of the city of Alpharetta will benefit the neighborhood in many positive ways to improve property values including the prestige of Alpharetta, improved code enforcement, excellent city services and acces to Alpharetta’s parks and recreation.
