So obviously this isn't Monday but I ran across this post while looking for something else and quickly realized what a sentimental time capsule it was for me. It is originally dated March of 2007. {I only began blogging the month before.} God had been speaking intensely to me for a few months about not being afraid to do something a little bit bigger for Him (though I had no clue what that would l

After breakfast for the girls, I needed to take Stephen to Urgent Care as last week he tripped and knocked his chest into a post, so after a week of pain I finally convinced him to go. An hour and a half wait and then the Doc, I think he made an assumption that perhaps it happened while drunk. Well, that couldn't be funnier to us because Steve and I simply do not drink, ever! Actually , it was kin
This is Shirley Nagel, a FIRED teacher from Michigan, and a RNC delegate. Ms. Nagel makes my Manic Monday list today because, quite simply, she's a nasty excuse for a human being and paints every decent, non-judgmental, intelligent Republican (yes, they're out there) in a bad light. Coming from an ol'blue New York Democrat, this is saying quite a bit.You see, on Halloween, Ms. Nagel decided not to
So many knee-jerk reactions. The slightest good news sends stocks skyrocketing, while the smallest twitter brings us nearly to a crash. Too much volume, too much automation, not enough regulation and not enough l

My highlight of BlogHer Boston was definitely meeting Erin and Kristen of the Manic Mommies. They were so down to earth, and genuinely hysterical in real life. After having this photo taken, they asked me whether I'd like to be interviewed for the podcast. What? Me? Ack!
They were so easy going that it was

I like leaves.
Granted, I prefer them on trees. But sometimes a leaf’s just GOTTA fall, you know. Like in Autumn.

I’ve decided on objectively researching the possibility of making a quick profit off the recent ups and downs. Here are the results In the past couple of weeks I’ve written quite a bit on the manic-depressive behavior of the stock market and the possibility of making a quick, yet risky, profit from it. As I’ve described in length I avoided gambling on this phenomenon for various reasons.I at

That past couples of weeks required considerable restraint on my part. Everyday brought with it what seemed to be endless opportunities to buy low and sell high. The temptation of making a quick profit off the mass hysteria that engulfed us and the markets was at a peak. I sms’ed the same generic message to my wife at least twice a day: “this kind of opportunities won’t present themselves ag
First up, I'm so glad no one thought I was being all trailer park by being disgusted with the serving of pate as our main meal staple on board our flight last week. After I pressed publish, I thought OMG what if I look really gauche and everyone else is all like "holy low class there motherbumper, I don't think a flight is complete without the serving of pureed organ meat".I mean - ewww... Last Sunday, right in the middle of the very relaxed, laid back and nonchalant school supply shopping trip to Super Target with the three kids my phone rang. It was my father. He must have called the house first because when he called my cellphone the first words out of his mouth were; "You're not home!""Nope. I'm in the middle of Super Target doing the school supply shopping....""Oh well, I w

Ugh. I don’t like Monday’s. They’ve never been a favorite day of mine. Usually it’s a day to go back to work or school, though it doesn’t mean either of those two things for me for another month. I just don’t like getting up on Monday morning. I mean, it isn’t like I have partied hard over the weekend and am regretting it Monday morning or anything. I just

Mo of It's A Blog Eat Blog World picked the word will for this weeks Manic Monday. I thought and thought and then remember something that happened a long, long time ago. When hubby and I had been seeing each other for quite some time I checked my voice mail one evening and I had a message from him. He said nothing...I just heard this song. It was the first time he told me that he loved me.
Manic depression or Bipolar depression is actually considered as one of the worst type of depression that people usually suffer from.Characterized by sudden and extreme changes in their mood, Manic depression is said to be called as such because manic = mania refers to the 'ups' while depression refers to the 'downs'. A lot of people actually experience erratic changes in their moods, some times,

It was the 1989 World Series and I had tickets. It was the third game and I decided not to go. That was October 17, 1989. The day that just about every baseball fan was sitting in front of the television watching the Battle of the Bay - the Oakland Athletics and the San Franciso Giants. It was also the day that the Loma Prieta earthquake struck. A magnitude 6.9 earthquake. I was in the valley, but it was so frightening I ran outside for fear the house would collapse. It was the strongest most horrific earthquake I've ever experienced, and I've experienced many. Although there were many heartbreaking events that took place I am only going to discuss two. These are the two that affected me the most. I was glued to the television for days as all the channels were covering the quakes aftermat

The 1895 Rosebud Egg is made of vericolored gold, translucent red and opaque white enamal, diamonds and cream velvet lining. The Rosebud is made of gold and opaque green and yellow enamel. The missing surprises, inside the rosebud, were a crown, made of gold, with diamonds and rubies, and the missing pendant was a cabochon Ruby. This Louis XVI-style Egg is covered with translucent red enamal on a wave-patterned guilloche field, quartered by lines of rose-cut diamonds and is surmounted by a miniature of Nicholas II beneath a portrait diamond, encircled by rose-cut diamonds. The year, 1894 is set in the base beneath a diamond. The egg opens to reveal a hinged yellow rosebud, another symbol of the couple's love for one another. The bud in turn originally contained two tiny surprises, a minia
Mo of It's A Blog Eat Blog World has chosen the word drink for this weeks Manic Monday. Since St. Patrick's Day and drink go together I thought I would talk about my green weekend and drinks. My long absence was because our yacht club always celebrates St. Patrick's Day. This year we went to Tower Park Marina for the weekend. Tower Park has a great bar and there were many drinks; green martinis, green beer, and green lemon drops to name a few. I never saw so many green drinks in my entire life. I spent part of the day Saturday watching Offshore boats come into the marina so they could partake of all the green drinks. Most were dressed in green and and after spending about 2.5 hours drinking all the green drinks, I was a bit worried about them leaving. Let's just say they were pretty d

Speaking of Union Chapel, I was also supposed to be there tonight, because I'd got one of the magic tickets to see Laura Marling and others performing live. Unfortunately, despite leaving Milan centre at 17:00 to take the fast route back to Linate, it was all in vain because the plane was delayed taking off. The pilot made suggestions that we'd be able to fly really fast knocking some 40 minutes off the advertised time, but as I suspected it was uphill on the way back and we actually arrived around 30 minutes late. By the time we'd got steps to the plane, been bussed around half of Heathrow and then retrieved my car it was around 21:15. With the gig about 50 minutes away if the traffic was perfect, I had to cut my losses and admit defeat. So above, instead, is Laura Marling singing to accom
Manic depression is a disorder that is characterized by mood swings ranging from elation to depression so severe that the patient can only think of suicide. It is also known as bipolar disorder and it can be so disabling that the patient cannot function normally in social or professional settings. It can be treated once properly diagnosed by a medical doctor and with care and patience, patients can move on to live a productive life. Manic depression cycles between two states: mania and depression. What are the symptoms of the mania state?A manic episode is where the patient experiences happiness and enjoyment that can last for a week or longer. This mood lasts all day, every day during this episode and it can be characterized by three more symptoms. Increased activity and energy, euphoric m
Bipolar disorder is not a single disorder; it is a combination of mood disorders.
If an individual experiences one or more episodes of abnormally elevated moods, it is referred clinically as mania.
A person who experiences manic episode will commonly experience depressive episodes or mixed episodes called manic depression.

Hi Penguins! On the Club Penguin Blog today, there is a post about all the upcoming stuff for March, and boy is there a lot! Here's a quick rundown:TWO Parties, the St.Pats day one (pictured here) and another one we have no idea about!A new game, maybe rebuilding Rockhopper's ship like I said!A new Sport Catalogue, with the silver fish bait in Ice FishingNew Game Upgrade (Which one? Maybe Ice Fishing as well as the new bait)Easter Scavanger Hunt! (This was done last year, and the year before, plus Easters in March this Year! And new pins, clothes and the usual monthly stuff! They also said; "We're also working on some top secret stuff we can't share yet, but that will be coming out over the next few months. Its going to be fun!" I wonder what that could be? Maybe a new mission, or a new room!
If you could have a servant come to your house every day for one hour, what would you have them do? Laundry. With 6 people in the house we go through tons of laundry ... especially since my 4 year old changes three or four or more times a day! I don't mind the washing & drying as much as the hanging, folding and putting up.Has your life ever been changed by an apparently random occurrence? It seems most of life's occurrences are "random" ... none of us can plan every event of our day. Meaning, it was random that I noticed my husband back in high school as he walked passed my best friend's house. It's random that I wrote the CL ad that got us this house. Most recently, it was random that we chose the closest church to our new home to attend ... and some old friends from high school atte
If you had to be named after one of the 50 states, which would it be?If I HAD to be named after one ... I guess I'd go with Montana ... sounds like a halfway decent "name for a person."Where do you go for advice? The Bible. No one can offer up better advice than God!What is the sickest you've ever been?Hmmm ... I think I got the flu pretty bad once a few years back. But, the worst had to be when I had my 4 wisdom teeth and two molars cut out while I was pregnant with baby #3. Since I was pregnant I had to have a local anesthetic and my meds weren't too strong. I was throwing up blood for three days and couldn't eat a thing! It was awful!
Dressed in glam clothing, wearing heavy eyeliner, and shouting political rhetoric, the Manic Street Preachers emerged from their hometown of Blackwood, Wales, in 1991 as self-styled "Generation Terrorists." Fashioning themselves after the Clash and the Sex Pistols, the Manics were on a mission, intending to restore revolution to rock & roll at a time when Britain was dominated by trancey...

Which sex do you think has it easier in our culture? Have you ever wished you were the opposite sex? Men. I don't know when the time will come for us women ... but it will come! Men are still higher paid, more respected, and can get away with things they should never be able to. And have I ever wanted to be the opposite sex ... all my life! I can't stand anything "girly" and other than the experience of pregnancy and being able to give life, I can't stand most things about being a girl ... hence the reason I have spent most of my life as a tomboy! : )What books from your childhood would you like to share with your children?I read ALL the time as a child. there are so many books I could share with my children. Right now though, I am simply trying to instill a love for reading within my kids

It seems Rapper Eminem is a manic depressive. This is per his mother's (Debbie Nelson) tell all book, "My Son Marshall, My Son Eminem", that is expected to hit the U.S. next year. The book is currently available in the UK. Eminem and his mother do not have a good relationship as evident in some of his songs where he raps about his hatred of his mother.

On April 10, 1912, the Titanic departed from Southampton, England and traveled to Cherbourg, France where many first-class passengers boarded. On April 11, 1912, the Titanic left Cherbourg en route to Queenstown (Cobh), Ireland where the Titanic picked up the majority of its third-class passengers. On April 12, 1912, the Titanic sailed on its maiden voyage across the Atlantic Ocean and was due to arrive in New York City on Wednesday April 17, 1912.On the night of April 14, at 11:40 p.m., The Titanic struck an iceberg; and less than three hours later, at 2:20 AM, on April 15, 1912 the ship sank. The United States Senate investigation reported that 1,517 people perished in the accident, while the British investigation has the number at 1,490. Regardless, the disaster ranks as one of the worst peacetime maritime disasters in history, and is by far the best known. The media frenzy about the Titanic's famous victims, the legends about what happened on board the ship, the resulting changes
Rocky (hissyfitting): How did I end up in this crazy place? Well, it all started when after years of climbing toward that corner catoffice, I became the missing rung on the corporate ladder ... I struck out on my own and found a cat’s dream job, where I can set my own hours, earn as much as I like, and work for someone I truly admire.I became a self-employed feline, the CEO of my own Artsy Catsy empire – yes, one of that elite group of cats who work twenty hours a day in order to avoid working eight hours a day for some othercat.Oh, the joy I felt when I came to work for me! All a distant memory now. My dream job has become a nightmare for one reason only: I've become my own toxic boss!Let me tell you how horrible it is for me to work for me. I'm completely unreasonable and can't get along with me no matter what I do. Nothing I do is good enough for me. I even expect me to work nights, weekends and holidays. The overtime I expect me to put in is insane! Can't I understand that t
With all the months of planning I have done I wouldn’t have expected this move to affect my time, energy, and money so dramatically and in ways I hadn’t anticipated. With the closing this Friday, my stress is at an all time high in this process. It’s looking like the loan paperwork and the home itself might come down to a photo finish. That is, if it isn’t late.
The home closing process has been surprisingly difficult and we have had to call daily to make sure the items we turned in weeks ago are being located and counted as received. If that isn’t enough to worry about we have our final (yes, FINAL) walk-through with the home builder tomorrow morning and there is still a laundry list of items to be finished including freshly inflicted damage to the tile backsplash. We’re talking golf ball sized holes below the vent hood. Something tells me they won’t be able to fix that by tomorrow morning. *sigh*
We have been having trouble pa
No, I’m not talking about some sale in a store somewhere. I’m talking about my house! Manic is certainly what it is with 6 kids running around. My blog name is holding true today! I have been babysitting for a friend for about 4 months and today, because the kids are all out of school, I have her two oldest. I don’t usually have them, since they are also in first grade, but on the occasion that they are off of school, I get all three. So, today I have three boys and three girls in the house, including two sets of twins (yes, her two oldest are twins, as well).
I have a ton of things I’d like to get done today, especially since the landlord is coming on Thursday to inspect our half of the duplex. I’m finding that it’s increasingly difficult to get anything done when the four older ones want to follow me around everywhere. Don’t get me wrong, I love that they are interested. I just wish they were interested enough to actually help. Fortunately, t
Rank 1 is a Dutch trance group, formed in the Netherlands in 1997. Widely regarded as one of the originators of the Dutch trance sound, the group have produced a number of dancefloor hits since their conception. Although the two members of the group (Benno De Goeij and Piet Bervoets) had worked together before, Rank 1 was their first project with commercial success.Their biggest hit commercially was the 2000 track "Airwave", which reached #10 in the UK Singles Chart and #25 in the Billboard Hot Dance/Club Play charts. This was later re-released by Rank 1 remixed with added vocals as "Breathing (Airwave 2003)", and also provided the base for a noted mash up with Kylie Minogue by Flip & Fill, as "True Love Never Dies", which was later vocally re-recorded using Kelly Llorenna. Mo of It's A Blog Eat Blog World, the creator of Manic Monday has chosen the word Relish for this Monday's MM meme. With Thanksgiving a few days away I thought of a great little relish that I like, Cranberry Relish that I found at Simply Recipes and use every Thanksgiving. This is a great cranberry relish for all turkey dishes and turkey sandwiches, and a tasty alternative to a more traditional cranberry sauce. The relish consists of raw cranberries, apples, and an orange, all put through a grinder with sugar added to macerate. The resulting relish is truly delicious.Preparation time: 15 minutes.2 cups washed raw cranberries 2 skinned and cored apples 1 large, whole (peel ON) seedless orange, cut into sections 2 cups granulated sugar Set up the grinder with a medium-sized blade on the edge of a table with a large roasting pan or bowl to catch the mix as it grinds. These old fashioned grinders tend to leak some of the juice down the grinder base, so you may want to set up an additional

The Teach was kind enough to drop by today, and she reminded me that it is Manic Monday! How on the earth could I forget Manic Monday?Well, I'll tell you... I have been asking myself how on the earth I got myself into this NaNoWriMo mess, but being a woman of my word and being that I am trying to stop being so pessimistic and more positive, well, I have to do it. Right? My brain is feeling fuzzy. I have a feeling that i may have very well written everything I could over the weekend and there simply isn't anything left in there to write;)Here is the Peace Globe that i will be posting about on November 7th:And since my brain is devoid of any intelligent word groupings (I'm only on my first cup of coffee), here are 2 of my favorite earth desktops:Thanks to Mo for hosting such a wonderful meme.

This week for manic Monday, FROST is the word. For more Morgen and MM's please go to to his blog- It's A Blog Eat Blog World.I'm a little late posting my MM, mostly because of the back ache I've had since last Friday but also because MM writer's block. I hope this is not a portent of things to come... because NaNoWriMo is going to suck big time *snort*.Anywho, the first thing that came to mind when I thought of the word frost was a time about 5 years ago, when Anna, John and I attended a family member's 8th birthday party. Anna was about 1 1/2 years old and sitting on my lap, and I shared small spoonfuls of ice cream and cake with her. After we were done having dessert, we all sat around the table and enjoyed stories of every day life sprinkled with family stories and teasing. Anna had decided that I wasn't done with dessert. As she sat on my lap, she scooped up the frosting that remained on my plate (because I was trying to spare my waistline some extra calories) and proceeded

Bats always turn left when they leave their caves.Frog-eating bats identify edible frogs from poisonous ones by listening to the mating calls of male frogs. Frogs counter this by hiding and using short, difficult to locate calls.Bats sleep during the day and feed at night. The place that bats sleep in is called the "roost."Bats emit ultrasonic sounds to communicate with each other.African heart-nosed bats can have such a keen sense of sound that they can hear the footsteps of a beetle walking on sand from six feet away.Giant flying foxes, which are a type of bat, that live in Indonesia have wingspans of nearly six feet.Vampire bat saliva has been responsible for many advances in research into stroke recovery.Manic Monday Participants1. This week's Manic Monday is brought to you by the word bat and it's wonderful host, Mo of course!Anna developed a sore throat on Friday and by Saturday she was sporting a lovely fever of 102.8. Saturday Anna saw the doctor and was given a prescription for Strep throat. Friday, Saturday AND Sunday were filled with throat-swollen whining, sleepy complaints and prickly attitudes given over maliciously batted eyelashes.Friday, Saturday and Sunday were filled with attempts by me to bat away frustration at said whining, complaints, attitudes, and several time outs. By yesterday evening I was a little batty and took my frustrations out on several loads of laundry.Last night as I put Anna to bed, feeling a little better after 2 1/2 days of antibiotics she said her nightly prayers."Jesus, I'm sorry for complaining about... EVERYTHING. Amen."Amen indeed.
slept at 8pm last nite, woke up today, still feeling tired...while showering, this song kept repeating in my head, so while its joelle's turn to shower, decided to blog about this song... grrr... not another manic monday... :(song: Manic Monday (click for youtube video)artist:The Bangles--------------------Six o'clock already I was just in the middle of a dream I was kissin' Valentino By a crystal blue Italian stream But I can't be late 'Cause then I guess I just won't get paid These are the days When you wish your bed was already made It's just another manic Monday I wish it was Sunday 'Cause that's my funday My I don't have to runday It's just another manic Monday Have to catch an early train Got to be to work by nine And if I had an air-o-plane I still couldn't make it on time 'Cause it takes me so long Just to figure out what I'm gonna wear Blame it on the train But the boss is already there All of the nights Why did my lover have to pick last night To get down Do
This Manic Monday is brought to you by the Mo'licious Mo and the word orange. The first thing that came to mind today when I saw the MM theme was the fact that my blog USED to be orange. Now, it's so very Pink! And for a very good reason, you can find out more by reading this post: Get Your Pink On.At first struggled with my pride. I worked really hard on that fall header! I had plans and I was gong to change the header through out the fall season, and had made a few variations where the leaves are falling more and more to reveal a naked tree. ;)But then I thought about doing a pink variation to the current theme and what you see above is the end result. Again, I'm all for breast cancer awareness so really the choice wasn't all that difficult.Everyone has breasts, and every year thousands of people are diagnosed- including men. We all know early detection is crucial, and along with yearly mammograms, monthly exams exams are one of the most important things you can do.OK, I'm done P
{summary}Scott is at work.
No, you don’t need to check your calendar - today is in fact Sunday. I have a pile of laundry the size of Paul Bunyan to do, but when you have a baby scampering away to dash up the stairs every time you turn your back, you can’t exactly sequester yourself in the laundry room. If Scott doesn’t come home at a reasonable time, I’ll either be recycling a bra from last week tomorrow or wearing something stretchy that provides zero support (...like an undershirt). Not that anyone cares.

Need to figure out how to get the kid prepared for the end of Daylight Savings Time (ends Nov. 4). I fear the bedtime thing will be disastrous for a few days.

While R is down for his pre-bath nap I’m trying to start dinner. Whether Scott makes it home to eat it or not is irrelevant as it’ll certainly be in my lunch bag for tomorrow. And probably Tuesday. Wednesday we’ll be off-site fo

This Manic Monday is brought to you by the wonderful Mo at It's A Blog Eat Blog World, and the word kit.Wow. This one is a toughie. I wanted to come up with something original, but couldn't think of anything. I could have written about my kitten, and the fact that she was bugging me while I was in my kitchen all Saturday making homemade cinnamon rolls. I took over a pan (from the first batch) to my neighbor and ended up talking for 2 hours... meanwhile the second batch sat rising, and rising and rising. I almost had a kittastrophy on my hands. Then I started to think about first aid/emergency kits... and this would be mine:I think it has everything you would need in case of an emergency. The chocolate and coffee beans would give a person energy to go find help, extra napkins could be used as bandages, and ice cold Starbucks could be used on burns. Oh, and the wrappers could be used to treat a sucking chest wound.
Today's Manic Monday is brought to you by the lovely Mo and the word Crisp! For more MM's, go to Mo's blog. This time of year I begin to think of all the wonderful things money can buy, like a pine tree that gently hovers over Christmas presents wrapped in crisp sparkling wrapping paper. I dream of apple and pumpkin pies, the warm and gooey cinnamon goodness that I bake with love in a crispy, flaky crust. This time of year also makes me think of the crunching of leaves under foot, the bite of the crisp air while walking in the evening... and money. All of that crisp, green paper, delicately adorned with gold little numbers, and the way it's warm glow always seems to burn a hole in my pocket.
I woke up Monday morning feeling well rested. And feeling mostly better. I had decided to get a good night's sleep at my parents' house after the bbq, since they live much closer to the planned family outing. I sleep better at their house. I haven't been sleeping well at my own for various reasons. My hip has been hurting more lately. My mattress is in dire need of being retired. And I still wake
More on Faith...A couple of nuns who were nursing sisters had gone out to the country to minister to an outpatient. On the way back they were a few miles from home when they ran out of gas. They were standing beside their car on the soulder of the road when a truck approached.Seeing ladies of the cloth in distress, the driver stopped to offer his help. The nuns explained that they needed some gas. The driver of the truck said he would gladly drain some from his tank, but he didn't have a bucket or can.One of the nuns dug out a clean bedpan and asked the driver if he could use it. He said yes, and proceeded to drain a couple of quarts of gas into the pan. He waved goodbye to the nuns and left. The nuns were carefully pouring the precious fluid into their gas tank when a highway patrolman came by.The trooper stopped and watched for a minute, then he said: "Sisters, I don't think it will work, but I sure do admire your faith."

Six guys were playing poker when Smith loses $500 on a single hand, clutches his chest and drops dead at the table.Showing respect for their fallen comrade, the other five complete their playing time standing up.Roberts looks around and asks, "Now, who is going to tell the wife?" They draw straws.Rippington, who is always a loser, picks the short one. They tell him to be discreet, be gentle, don't make a bad situation any worse than it is."Gentlemen! Discreet? I'm the most discreet man you will ever meet. Discretion is my middle name, leave it to me."Rippington walks over to the Smith house, knocks on the door, the wife answers, asks what he wants.Rippington says, "Your husband just lost $500 playing cards."She hollers, "TELL HIM TO DROP DEAD!"Rippington says, "I'll tell him."
