I hope everyone had a great Mother’s Day. We went to church and were transferred in as new members. Then, my dad bought us a gas grill as an early Christmas present, so dh grilled steaks for dinner. I finished my photomosaic puzzle (it only took me a week!) and had a pretty relaxing day. Now, on to todays meme!
If the statement, ‘You are what you eat’ was true, I would be a cup o
I have nothing ... well I had a brilliant post but I lost it - gggrrrrrrrrrr Firefox crashed .The darn word verification of my posts - because the problem marking my blog as spam isn't fixed meant that blogger didn't save the post.It usually does it as you go but not when you have word verification on your posts.I want to cry *sob*... really I do - actually that isn't the full truth. I want to swear and say WTF. I want to kick something Worse maybe ...I won't though !I don't really swear on my blog ... though I curse the computer .However , if you ask my husband he says between my teen and I he has enough money in his virtual swear jar to retire - very comfortably. If only *snort* !!!He has rarely sworn.. ever in my presence anyway - what he mutters under his breath about me I wouldn't hea
It was the 1989 World Series and I had tickets. It was the third game and I decided not to go. That was October 17, 1989. The day that just about every baseball fan was sitting in front of the television watching the Battle of the Bay - the Oakland Athletics and the San Franciso Giants. It was also the day that the Loma Prieta earthquake struck. A magnitude 6.9 earthquake. I was in the valley, but it was so frightening I ran outside for fear the house would collapse. It was the strongest most horrific earthquake I've ever experienced, and I've experienced many. Although there were many heartbreaking events that took place I am only going to discuss two. These are the two that affected me the most. I was glued to the television for days as all the channels were covering the quakes aftermat
Hey y’all,
I hope everyone had an indescribably fine weekend, just being with good people and eating good food and getting up to some good shenanigans.
Today, I just have to share with you a snap I stumbled on while going through YoMomma.tv. It stood out from all the repetition and poor spelling and questionable content. [...]
The 1895 Rosebud Egg is made of vericolored gold, translucent red and opaque white enamal, diamonds and cream velvet lining. The Rosebud is made of gold and opaque green and yellow enamel. The missing surprises, inside the rosebud, were a crown, made of gold, with diamonds and rubies, and the missing pendant was a cabochon Ruby. This Louis XVI-style Egg is covered with translucent red enamal on a wave-patterned guilloche field, quartered by lines of rose-cut diamonds and is surmounted by a miniature of Nicholas II beneath a portrait diamond, encircled by rose-cut diamonds. The year, 1894 is set in the base beneath a diamond. The egg opens to reveal a hinged yellow rosebud, another symbol of the couple's love for one another. The bud in turn originally contained two tiny surprises, a minia
Mo of It's A Blog Eat Blog World has chosen the word drink for this weeks Manic Monday. Since St. Patrick's Day and drink go together I thought I would talk about my green weekend and drinks. My long absence was because our yacht club always celebrates St. Patrick's Day. This year we went to Tower Park Marina for the weekend. Tower Park has a great bar and there were many drinks; green martinis, green beer, and green lemon drops to name a few. I never saw so many green drinks in my entire life. I spent part of the day Saturday watching Offshore boats come into the marina so they could partake of all the green drinks. Most were dressed in green and and after spending about 2.5 hours drinking all the green drinks, I was a bit worried about them leaving. Let's just say they were pretty d
Okay, so, I have no fucking clue what Jesus was doing at McDonald’s. Except that this particular McDonald’s is next door to Grady Memorial Hospital, so maybe He was there healing the sick or helping the blind to see or some such shit. I really don’t know. What I do know is that He can’t [...]
If you could have a servant come to your house every day for one hour, what would you have them do? Laundry. With 6 people in the house we go through tons of laundry ... especially since my 4 year old changes three or four or more times a day! I don't mind the washing & drying as much as the hanging, folding and putting up.Has your life ever been changed by an apparently random occurrence? It seems most of life's occurrences are "random" ... none of us can plan every event of our day. Meaning, it was random that I noticed my husband back in high school as he walked passed my best friend's house. It's random that I wrote the CL ad that got us this house. Most recently, it was random that we chose the closest church to our new home to attend ... and some old friends from high school atte
If you had to be named after one of the 50 states, which would it be?If I HAD to be named after one ... I guess I'd go with Montana ... sounds like a halfway decent "name for a person."Where do you go for advice? The Bible. No one can offer up better advice than God!What is the sickest you've ever been?Hmmm ... I think I got the flu pretty bad once a few years back. But, the worst had to be when I had my 4 wisdom teeth and two molars cut out while I was pregnant with baby #3. Since I was pregnant I had to have a local anesthetic and my meds weren't too strong. I was throwing up blood for three days and couldn't eat a thing! It was awful!
Which sex do you think has it easier in our culture? Have you ever wished you were the opposite sex? Men. I don't know when the time will come for us women ... but it will come! Men are still higher paid, more respected, and can get away with things they should never be able to. And have I ever wanted to be the opposite sex ... all my life! I can't stand anything "girly" and other than the experience of pregnancy and being able to give life, I can't stand most things about being a girl ... hence the reason I have spent most of my life as a tomboy! : )What books from your childhood would you like to share with your children?I read ALL the time as a child. there are so many books I could share with my children. Right now though, I am simply trying to instill a love for reading within my kids
The song White Christmas is undoubtedly the most famous and popular of all the Christmas songs. The music and lyrics for White Christmas were written by Irving Berlin in 1942 and originally featured in the movie Holiday Inn starring Bing Crosby. The lyrics of White Christmas struck a chord with the soldiers fighting in the Second World War and their families who were waiting for them back home. The song and recording of White Christmas by Bing Crosby with John Scott Trotter's orchestra and the Ken Darby Singers was so popular that it was later reprised in the movie called after its name - White Christmas. The film White Christmas once again starred Bing Crosby together with Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney and Vera-Ellen.Manic Monday Participants1. empress bee (of the high sea)2. Ian3. On April 10, 1912, the Titanic departed from Southampton, England and traveled to Cherbourg, France where many first-class passengers boarded. On April 11, 1912, the Titanic left Cherbourg en route to Queenstown (Cobh), Ireland where the Titanic picked up the majority of its third-class passengers. On April 12, 1912, the Titanic sailed on its maiden voyage across the Atlantic Ocean and was due to arrive in New York City on Wednesday April 17, 1912.On the night of April 14, at 11:40 p.m., The Titanic struck an iceberg; and less than three hours later, at 2:20 AM, on April 15, 1912 the ship sank. The United States Senate investigation reported that 1,517 people perished in the accident, while the British investigation has the number at 1,490. Regardless, the disaster ranks as one of the worst peacetime maritime disasters in history, and is by far the best known. The media frenzy about the Titanic's famous victims, the legends about what happened on board the ship, the resulting changes
No, I’m not talking about some sale in a store somewhere. I’m talking about my house! Manic is certainly what it is with 6 kids running around. My blog name is holding true today! I have been babysitting for a friend for about 4 months and today, because the kids are all out of school, I have her two oldest. I don’t usually have them, since they are also in first grade, but on the occasion that they are off of school, I get all three. So, today I have three boys and three girls in the house, including two sets of twins (yes, her two oldest are twins, as well).
I have a ton of things I’d like to get done today, especially since the landlord is coming on Thursday to inspect our half of the duplex. I’m finding that it’s increasingly difficult to get anything done when the four older ones want to follow me around everywhere. Don’t get me wrong, I love that they are interested. I just wish they were interested enough to actually help. Fortunately, t
Rank 1 is a Dutch trance group, formed in the Netherlands in 1997. Widely regarded as one of the originators of the Dutch trance sound, the group have produced a number of dancefloor hits since their conception. Although the two members of the group (Benno De Goeij and Piet Bervoets) had worked together before, Rank 1 was their first project with commercial success.Their biggest hit commercially was the 2000 track "Airwave", which reached #10 in the UK Singles Chart and #25 in the Billboard Hot Dance/Club Play charts. This was later re-released by Rank 1 remixed with added vocals as "Breathing (Airwave 2003)", and also provided the base for a noted mash up with Kylie Minogue by Flip & Fill, as "True Love Never Dies", which was later vocally re-recorded using Kelly Llorenna. Mo of It's A Blog Eat Blog World, the creator of Manic Monday has chosen the word Relish for this Monday's MM meme. With Thanksgiving a few days away I thought of a great little relish that I like, Cranberry Relish that I found at Simply Recipes and use every Thanksgiving. This is a great cranberry relish for all turkey dishes and turkey sandwiches, and a tasty alternative to a more traditional cranberry sauce. The relish consists of raw cranberries, apples, and an orange, all put through a grinder with sugar added to macerate. The resulting relish is truly delicious.Preparation time: 15 minutes.2 cups washed raw cranberries 2 skinned and cored apples 1 large, whole (peel ON) seedless orange, cut into sections 2 cups granulated sugar Set up the grinder with a medium-sized blade on the edge of a table with a large roasting pan or bowl to catch the mix as it grinds. These old fashioned grinders tend to leak some of the juice down the grinder base, so you may want to set up an additional

The Teach was kind enough to drop by today, and she reminded me that it is Manic Monday! How on the earth could I forget Manic Monday?Well, I'll tell you... I have been asking myself how on the earth I got myself into this NaNoWriMo mess, but being a woman of my word and being that I am trying to stop being so pessimistic and more positive, well, I have to do it. Right? My brain is feeling fuzzy. I have a feeling that i may have very well written everything I could over the weekend and there simply isn't anything left in there to write;)Here is the Peace Globe that i will be posting about on November 7th:And since my brain is devoid of any intelligent word groupings (I'm only on my first cup of coffee), here are 2 of my favorite earth desktops:Thanks to Mo for hosting such a wonderful meme.

This week for manic Monday, FROST is the word. For more Morgen and MM's please go to to his blog- It's A Blog Eat Blog World.I'm a little late posting my MM, mostly because of the back ache I've had since last Friday but also because MM writer's block. I hope this is not a portent of things to come... because NaNoWriMo is going to suck big time *snort*.Anywho, the first thing that came to mind when I thought of the word frost was a time about 5 years ago, when Anna, John and I attended a family member's 8th birthday party. Anna was about 1 1/2 years old and sitting on my lap, and I shared small spoonfuls of ice cream and cake with her. After we were done having dessert, we all sat around the table and enjoyed stories of every day life sprinkled with family stories and teasing. Anna had decided that I wasn't done with dessert. As she sat on my lap, she scooped up the frosting that remained on my plate (because I was trying to spare my waistline some extra calories) and proceeded

Bats always turn left when they leave their caves.Frog-eating bats identify edible frogs from poisonous ones by listening to the mating calls of male frogs. Frogs counter this by hiding and using short, difficult to locate calls.Bats sleep during the day and feed at night. The place that bats sleep in is called the "roost."Bats emit ultrasonic sounds to communicate with each other.African heart-nosed bats can have such a keen sense of sound that they can hear the footsteps of a beetle walking on sand from six feet away.Giant flying foxes, which are a type of bat, that live in Indonesia have wingspans of nearly six feet.Vampire bat saliva has been responsible for many advances in research into stroke recovery.Manic Monday Participants1. This week's Manic Monday is brought to you by the word bat and it's wonderful host, Mo of course!Anna developed a sore throat on Friday and by Saturday she was sporting a lovely fever of 102.8. Saturday Anna saw the doctor and was given a prescription for Strep throat. Friday, Saturday AND Sunday were filled with throat-swollen whining, sleepy complaints and prickly attitudes given over maliciously batted eyelashes.Friday, Saturday and Sunday were filled with attempts by me to bat away frustration at said whining, complaints, attitudes, and several time outs. By yesterday evening I was a little batty and took my frustrations out on several loads of laundry.Last night as I put Anna to bed, feeling a little better after 2 1/2 days of antibiotics she said her nightly prayers."Jesus, I'm sorry for complaining about... EVERYTHING. Amen."Amen indeed.

This Manic Monday is brought to you by the Mo'licious Mo and the word orange. The first thing that came to mind today when I saw the MM theme was the fact that my blog USED to be orange. Now, it's so very Pink! And for a very good reason, you can find out more by reading this post: Get Your Pink On.At first struggled with my pride. I worked really hard on that fall header! I had plans and I was gong to change the header through out the fall season, and had made a few variations where the leaves are falling more and more to reveal a naked tree. ;)But then I thought about doing a pink variation to the current theme and what you see above is the end result. Again, I'm all for breast cancer awareness so really the choice wasn't all that difficult.Everyone has breasts, and every year thousands of people are diagnosed- including men. We all know early detection is crucial, and along with yearly mammograms, monthly exams exams are one of the most important things you can do.OK, I'm done P
This Manic Monday is brought to you by the wonderful Mo at It's A Blog Eat Blog World, and the word kit.Wow. This one is a toughie. I wanted to come up with something original, but couldn't think of anything. I could have written about my kitten, and the fact that she was bugging me while I was in my kitchen all Saturday making homemade cinnamon rolls. I took over a pan (from the first batch) to my neighbor and ended up talking for 2 hours... meanwhile the second batch sat rising, and rising and rising. I almost had a kittastrophy on my hands. Then I started to think about first aid/emergency kits... and this would be mine:I think it has everything you would need in case of an emergency. The chocolate and coffee beans would give a person energy to go find help, extra napkins could be used as bandages, and ice cold Starbucks could be used on burns. Oh, and the wrappers could be used to treat a sucking chest wound.
Today's Manic Monday is brought to you by the lovely Mo and the word Crisp! For more MM's, go to Mo's blog. This time of year I begin to think of all the wonderful things money can buy, like a pine tree that gently hovers over Christmas presents wrapped in crisp sparkling wrapping paper. I dream of apple and pumpkin pies, the warm and gooey cinnamon goodness that I bake with love in a crispy, flaky crust. This time of year also makes me think of the crunching of leaves under foot, the bite of the crisp air while walking in the evening... and money. All of that crisp, green paper, delicately adorned with gold little numbers, and the way it's warm glow always seems to burn a hole in my pocket.
I woke up Monday morning feeling well rested. And feeling mostly better. I had decided to get a good night's sleep at my parents' house after the bbq, since they live much closer to the planned family outing. I sleep better at their house. I haven't been sleeping well at my own for various reasons. My hip has been hurting more lately. My mattress is in dire need of being retired. And I still wake
More on Faith...A couple of nuns who were nursing sisters had gone out to the country to minister to an outpatient. On the way back they were a few miles from home when they ran out of gas. They were standing beside their car on the soulder of the road when a truck approached.Seeing ladies of the cloth in distress, the driver stopped to offer his help. The nuns explained that they needed some gas. The driver of the truck said he would gladly drain some from his tank, but he didn't have a bucket or can.One of the nuns dug out a clean bedpan and asked the driver if he could use it. He said yes, and proceeded to drain a couple of quarts of gas into the pan. He waved goodbye to the nuns and left. The nuns were carefully pouring the precious fluid into their gas tank when a highway patrolman came by.The trooper stopped and watched for a minute, then he said: "Sisters, I don't think it will work, but I sure do admire your faith."
Banta went to his doctor, Dr. Santa`s and stutters, "Da-da-doc, I`ve ba-ba-been sta-sta-stuttering for ye-ye-years, and I ca-ca-can`t stand it anymo-mo-more! Can you he-he-help me?"Dr. Santa answers "Well, I`ll have to give you a thorough examination first, but in some cases there is a cure."So Santa puts Banta through a battery of tests, and says, "I think I know what`s causing your stuttering."Banta excitedly asks, "Well, wa-wa-what is it, da-da-doctor?""It`s your penis. I know that sounds crazy, but you have an unusually large penis - it`s almost two feet long. It seems the weight is putting a strain on your vocal cords which most men never have to deal with."Banta asks, "Wa-wa-what can we da-da-do?""Well, we could remove it and transplant a shorter one.""Doooo it!" Banta replies. So they go through the operation, and three weeks later Banta comes in for a follow up appointment.Banta says, "Doc, you solved my stuttering problem. I don`t know how to thank you. But I`ve only had sex on
Six guys were playing poker when Smith loses $500 on a single hand, clutches his chest and drops dead at the table.Showing respect for their fallen comrade, the other five complete their playing time standing up.Roberts looks around and asks, "Now, who is going to tell the wife?" They draw straws.Rippington, who is always a loser, picks the short one. They tell him to be discreet, be gentle, don't make a bad situation any worse than it is."Gentlemen! Discreet? I'm the most discreet man you will ever meet. Discretion is my middle name, leave it to me."Rippington walks over to the Smith house, knocks on the door, the wife answers, asks what he wants.Rippington says, "Your husband just lost $500 playing cards."She hollers, "TELL HIM TO DROP DEAD!"Rippington says, "I'll tell him."
Today's manic Monday is brought to you by the word DROP. For more MM's visit Mo's site and join in the fun!I'm going to Reno in 4 days ( to see my sister- all by myself, sans kids and hubs! My brother is going too!)... are my bags packed yet? Why, yes they are. Thanks for asking. Obsess much? You are correct, sir! I packed my suit case Friday night. Yup that's right, almost a week before my trip, my stuff is all packed with the exception of make up and my blow dryer. ;)But I digress, we are supposed to be discussing the word DROP. What was my point? Oh yes... since I tend to make regular drop offs in the boob zone (bombing my chest and the outlying regions, missing my mouth completely at times), I have had to rethink the whole "I'm only bringing a carry on bag so I can avoid the whole luggage pick up thing... I'm only going to be gone for 4 days, so I shouldn't need much ..." thingy.I had originally thought that I could bring this cute, adorable and completely inadequate carry
ugh. Does it happen to you? You have this fun weekend. J is home. We unpack, organize, check out the church and run off to Albuquerque. We enjoy tons of family time. J & I watch theLord of the Rings Trilogy. We relax.
Then Monday comes. ugh. I wish it were Sunday. Laundry has piled up. The sea foam green carpet looks like Rhinos have run through. The kitchen looks like a science lab. ugh.
Becca is enjoying some cool finds we discovered while garage sale shopping (really we must stop). Ethan scored a Jumperoo this weekend. Becca had a hand me down exercersauser that we did not save, this new fandled thing is high tech! I have debating and debating. Ethan’s head control and even leg strength is amazing. His tummy time has helped him out so much. In fact he almost rolled over yesterday! So I did not really want yet another thing to place him in. It gets to easy to put him away and forget about it. Yuck.
However, at Target when we tried out the Jumperoo, Ethan instantly smiled

Manic Monday for June 4th
1. How do you learn best? Watch and learn? Participation? Reading directions or technical manuals?
A bit of all of those. We’ve learned craft techniques just watching YouTube videos. Learned others straight from books. When we were younger, learned sewing through participation.
2. Is one of your senses more highly developed than another? If so, which one?
Hmm.. never really thought about it. I’ll have to think about this one a little bit. It’s not my vision or hearing, that’s for sure. When the nose isn’t stuffed up due to allergies, well it’s probably not that either. What’s left touch and taste? Maybe touch.
3. Summer is almost upon us here in the northern hemisphere. What says summer to you?
My flowers blooming, the wildlife hanging out in the back yard, watermelon on sale at the grocery store, and it being tooooo hot out.

What’s your favorite food item that is in your refrigerator right now?
The pasta I made last night, for left overs for lunch today! The sauce is really good. Regular jar sauce with sausage in it!
Do you enjoying barbecuing on the grill? What’s something that you make often?
Nope, we don’t even own a bbq grill. My husband drools over them at the hardware store all the time though. It’s really funny. I do put bbq sauce on chicken and hamburgers sometimes on the stove though.
What one item (kitchen gadget, appliance, food item) in your kitchen best describes your personality? Why?
hmm.. my Koolaid Man spoons. They came free on bags of Splenda last year, they’re different!

Tim has to work today... Memorial day. So... I'm home hangin with the boys. After today, only two more days of school. CRAZY!!! Tomorrow is Isaiah's track & field day and Wed is Malachi's last day of preschool, Thursday morning is Isaiah's award ceremony. Then, just like that, it's summer vacation. This school year has flown by for me. It's hard to believe that in a few short months I will be the mother of a THIRD grader... as well as one in kindergarten, one in preschool and a ONE year old. I feel like it's all happening so fast. Before you know it I'll be crying about how all my boys are all grown up and gone.http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h305/tmndsrhjhn_photos/6.jpg

The Silent TreatmentA man and his wife were having some problems at home and were giving each other the silent treatment.Suddenly, the man realized that the next day, he would need his wife to wake him at 5:00 AM for an early morning business flight. Not wanting to be the first to break the silence (and LOSE), he wrote on a piece of paper, "Please wake me at 5:00 AM." He left it where he knew she would find it.The next morning, the man woke up, only to discover it was 9:00 AM and he had missed his flight.Furious, he was about to go and see why his wife hadn't wakened him, when he noticed a piece of paper by the bed. This weekend was a pretty good weekend. Friday night we went out with the IL's to get pictures taken and then out to eat. The Mermaid cried most of the time, but we did get some good pics of the four of us. We also got some good pics of the Mermaid on a rocking horse and on a little bench. We took pics of the Guppy which came out really good, pics of the Knight and I with the Guppy, and some nursing pics of the Guppy and I with some of the Knight too. As soon as I get the pics I will post them. Saturday we got all our grocery shopping done. It was an expensive week for us this week, since we needed a lot of things. And Sunday we got a lot done around the house. Well, at least I did. The Knight gave the girls their baths and kept them occupied so I could get housework done.I have three "playdates" to go to this week that I am really excited about. It stinks that right now we are down to one car, so I have to drop the Knight off at work and then make sure I am on time to pick him up. Tw
I am going to try to make today not a total wash like yesterday with the ice storm and all, but I am going to have some major catching up to do. In the mean time, here is an awesome article that I found Saturday on Bugs & Cranks. They go over the history of baseball video games starting with the horrible "Home Run" on Atari. It's pretty hilarious and brings back tons of memories.
