Wake up in the morning quite late. After settle and pack everything, we checked out from the hotel and drive for our "Brunch" (Breakfast and lunch together). We were looking at one Dim Sum (點心) restaurant along Jalan Gajah Berang. Info from 9W2KG. After around 30 minutes of merry-go-round, we found the shop finally. The restaurant call "Ban Hong Xiang Tea House". 9W2KG advised me to go early or after the breakfast time, because the place is pack and crowded during morning session. The best time is after 11am. When we reach the shop, they are about to close. Luckily there are still some dim sum enough for us! All were delicious! The meat ball was good serves with homemade chili! Most of the 'dim sum' here are worth trying. No regrets for finding it! This shop seems like a family business to me, because I can see most employees here have similar face. Look like brother and sister. The shop open from Monday to Sunday, will close twice in a month during weekday

The 200th anniversary of the arrival in China of the first Protestant missionary, Robert Morrison, who contributed much to western knowledge of Chinese, is being marked by a display in the Bodleian Library, Oxford. Robert Morrison (1782–1834, right in photo), from Northumbria in northern England, arrived in the port of Canton on 7 September 1807, commissioned by the new London Missionary Society first to learn Chinese, and then to make a Chinese translation of the Bible. Despite Qing law preventing foreigners from learning Chinese, the East India Company policy excluding missionaries, and opposition from Portuguese Catholics who were already working in the country, Morrison mastered the language with help from faithful Chinese assistants. In 1809 he became official interpreter for the East India Company alongside his mentor, Sir George Staunton (1781–1859), the only other Englishman who knew Chinese at the time. Though often critical of the Company and of British government p

The small state, formerly Malacca,is one of the more interesting states in Malaysia. In the 15th century it was the largest port in South-East Asia, though its importance has long since declined. Its history is riveting and the town has fascinating examples of Portuguese, Dutch, Chinese and Islamic architecture throughout its rambling streets.Melaka town is small and easy to negotiate on foot, bicycle or trishaw. The most interesting parts are near the river and along the original waterfront. Here, particularly around the Dutch built, town hall where you will find a number of churches and the Culture Museum. I arrived in Kuala Lumpur from Penang late in the evening. Of course, the first thing we did was go for a late dinner. If I remember it right, it was at a mamak which served roti canai, beef murtabak and teh tarik. September 19: The next day, I think we went shopping since the only thing I could remember was that we passed by KL's Central Market. That evening too, Leon took a bus from Singapore to join us in KL.September 20: We decided to go to Malacca (Melaka) and meet up with Shyamala, another SSEAYP batchmate who lived there. Aside from me, Kenneth and Leon, two Filipino friends of Kenneth joined us.Since I had been to Malacca the previous year during the SSEAYP program, we didn't go around much. I hadn't realized it then but I had actually visited the three major towns of the Straits Settlements (Singapore, Penang and Malacca) during the trip.Just like Penang, Malacca had its own heritage trail sponsored too by American Express. We started at the Town Center of Malacca Town. On
Trip to Melaka on June 2005.Melaka is located on the Western Coast of Peninsular Malaysia facing the Straits of Melaka, about 147 kilometers from Kuala Lumpur and 245 kilometers from Singpore. Melaka is actually found sandwiched between the states of Negeri Sembilan and Johor. It can be reached by excellent roads from Kuala Lumpur and Singapore. Internally it is serviced by a very good network of roads leading to all the historical places of interest. It covers and area of 658 square kilometers and is divided into three districts namely Alor Gajah, Melaka Tengah and Jasin.Melaka was founded by Parameswara (or Raja Iskandar) the last Malay ruler of Temasik (ancient Singapore) in 1396 when he and his followers retreated up the straits to Muar, then to Sungai Ujung before settling at Bertam near the estuary of Melaka River.Finding the place of strategic location, he decided to make a permanent settlement there, naming it "Melaka" after the name of the tree he leaned against. The Melaka Sul
