This made me wonder about all the magnetic letters on my fridge and making sure my 10 month old (who eats everything) stays away from them. It took me a few songs to get used to Matthew Thomas Dillion's high vocals but it's a good different. Windmill is the combined efforts of Dillon and several key players that bring the mild melancholy sound. Question: I have a question involving magnets and force. I could not find the answer anywhere and do not quite know if I can use logic to answer. I have two neodymium magnets and each magnet has the ability to pick up and object 10 pounds. So if you used both together it could pick up an object 20 pounds. Now if I placed one of them on a table and then forced the other on top so they would repel and released it, the one on top would shoot off. I think she was initially puzzled when I explained to her that I required the magnets from inside the disk to use on the oil filter of the bus. The reason is that many of the parts in engines are made up of ferrous metals. When the parts begin to wear, they create small particles that float in the oil. Placing Neodymium magnets on the oil filter and sump will trap the particles. It is then a case of when changing your oil, you can easily remove all the trapped particles. it just gives the engine a lot longer life which is always a very good thing! Good news to report about Mac, the kitty who swallowed one of my magnets that I blogged about here. So far, so good! He ended up visiting two different veterinarians, having surgery and staying in the hospital for one week. He's home now and is improving. Thank You Cat God's!!I wish that I had an updated picture of Mac to post here, but I don't. I can fix that though! Now, for the somewhat gross part. The picture below is what the vet pulled out of Mac's small intestine. I thought it kind of funny that they saved it and that I was the one that ended up with it. The paper and magnet portion of this thing broke down in his body and did him no harm at all. However, the glass pebble was lodged in that intestine of his and is what made him so sick. The picture of this thing seems more gross to me than it does in person. Perhaps this post is the result of the very same major mid life crises that has already seen me developing a silly school boy type crush for the opera singer Katherine Jenkins (I’m head over heels and its rather pathetic but curiously enlivening) and me wearing Bermuda shorts in public (no, scrub the last bit – things aren’t that bad) but I have spent several minutes staring at these fridge magnets and contemplating life (do fridge magnets do that to you too? I suspect not). There’s just something about these chrome fridge magnets that really appeal though it comes to something when your fridge magnets look a damn sight more classy than the fridge they’re stuck to. Okay after some discussion we decided it’d be okay to post a picture of something we made yesterday. I don’t know why we’re so afraid to post any photos. It’s kind of scary I guess. They’re made with watercolor colored pencils, a 3/4″ paper punch, sketch paper, 3/4″ flat round marbles, and 3/4″ marbles with one side flattened (I got mine at Walmart, in the craft section back by the flower arrangement stuff.) Oh yeah, and some silicone adhesive which I think was from the hardware section maybe, or maybe in crafts.. I forget. It stinks so sit in a well ventilated area (or outdoors). Our next batch we plan to use a sharpie marker to help the designs pop better. We made about 20 other magnets but these were the favorites of the mix. (Clicky for bigger version) Color up some paper. Punch the circles out. Do some tests with your paper, magnets, and marbles before gluing. Sometimes the marbles don’t fit well for a good look. Th

I learned how to do this really neat little project from a visit to the Work*Shop in Austin a couple of years ago. These adorable glass magnets make great little gifts, original kitchen or office magnets - as well as a terrific craft for an older child, a teenager or a real grown-up like me. If you do take the time to do it properly, these may be the most satisfying fifteen minutes you spend on an artsy-fartsy craft and end up with a really unique-looking creation, one that finally answers the elusive search for form and function. What you need:- Transparent glass pebbles with a flat back, the kind you find in the flower arrangement section of your local art/craft supply store. Try to choose the clearest ones you can, you should be able to see your chosen design underneath. It's okay if the pebble shows a little bit of a moiré effect as they often do, it may even add to the charm of the finished piece. You can use different sizes, but it's easier to work with the larger ones.- Smal
