Yesterday I mentioned that Machine Head will play on Friday here in Helsinki together with Arch Enemy, Dragonforce and Trivium. For those who do not know, Machine Head is a heavy metal band formed in 1992 in Oklahoma, California. The band was founded by Robb Flynn who plays guitar in the band. They soon got lots of attention and the band toured with Napalm Death in 1994. Their video “Davidian” was banned in United States but they received a lot of attention in Europe and they toured with Slayer and Biohazard. Machine Head played in Dynamo festival in front of 130 000 people. Later on the band has played together with a number of big bands, such as Lamb of God, Trivium, Megadeth and Heaven and Hell.
Machine Head has released six albums, namely
- Burn My Eyes
- The More Things Change…
- The Burning Red
- Supercharger
- Hellalive
- Through the Ashes of Empires
- The Blackening
Machine Head is an awesome band. Their latest album Blackening is really impressive, the best one
Tomorrow rocks! It will be the heaviest Friday tomorrow in Hellsinki! Four awesome bands are coming to play here in my city. Yeah, it is going to be cool, but you know what? I have got no ticket! No kidding, I do not have the ticket and they are sold out. For some reason I missed the whole show totally. It is funny that I just discussed about those bands with Shaun in comments of my previous articles related to Bullet For My Valentine gig and Bullet For My Valentine album. Soon after our discussion I heard that those bands are coming to Helsinki. Too late.
Well, this is not the first time I miss a good gig, and it is not that dramatic. Life goes on
Those bands going to play in Helsinki are just awesome. I really enjoy them. Arch Enemy has released a new album this year, Rise Of The Tyrant. It is a stunning album. If you enjoy melodic death metal and you do not have that album yet, go and get it. You won’t be dissapointed. Here is a sample for you.
You can order the album he

In 1994, Machine Head crashed into the metal scene with Burn My Eyes, an album that to this day is regarded as a classic of the genre. At a time when metal was being pushed back underground by grunge and punk, it was an album we could all get behind, and “Let freedom ring with a shotgun blast” became a mantra for the day. They even got to tour with Slayer on the Divine Intervention tour, further solidifying their status as THE band to watch. The fires had cooled a bit by 1997 when they released The More Things Change, which was accepted with a lukewarm reaction by fans who liked it but felt it was a huge step down from their debut. The downward slide continued through the ill-fated The Burning Red and the perhaps unfairly criticized Supercharger, periods marked by the loss of original memb

Deep Purple - Machine Head (1972)320kbpsLed Zeppelin's fourth album, Black Sabbath's Paranoid, and Deep Purple's Machine Head stand as the Holy Trinity of English hard rock. These recordings provide the blueprint followed by virtually every heavy rock & roll band since the mid-'70s. Though probably the least celebrated of the three, Machine Head contains the mother of all guitar riffs in "Smoke on the Water," a song that needs no further explanation. The album also features the classic "Highway Star," which epitomizes all of Deep Purple's intensity and versatility, while featuring perhaps the greatest soloing duel ever between guitarist Ritchie Blackmore and organist Jon Lord. Also in top form is singer Ian Gillan (simply one of the finest singers of his generation, bar none), who explodes with amazing power and range throughout. Gillan lets the band take over on the largely instrumental "Lazy," which would evolve into an incredible live jam. The plodding shuffle of "Maybe I'm a

The title isn't really a joke, actually. Machine Head do take some chances on their second album, The More Things Change..., expanding their brutal attack with gothic flourishes and prog rock pretensions without ever abandoning their blistering thrash metal roots. And that's good -- few bands have the appealing, gut-level visceral attack of
