Thursday morning, and just a few minutes to spare before I blast out the door for DAY ONE of Originals Spring Craft Sale. It was the usual sprint to the finish to get as much new work ready as possible, and then the absolute bedlam of packing up the trailer and setting up the show. The display always looks pretty passable by the time it's assembled and the work hung...but I admit the process is lacking in ZEN. We never seem to do the same lay out twice. My ever loyal and suffering hubby seems to channel the spirit of MacGyver, to somehow build the display and hang as many pieces as possible. And all this without a swiss army knife! And yesterday, we had even managed to forget the duct tape! But this is it, the show must go on and will go on!

Apparently things are happening over in the UK as British have developed a new type of chewing gum. Normally gum will stick to the pavement, and then it gets stuck on your shoe. Because it was cold and gray and rainy this morning, I wore my favorite black Gap pants to work, with a bright turquoise sweater and cute little black kitten heels. Unfortunately, my favorite pants are a smidge too long for me, and are starting to look, well, worn. Not that it's unexpected; I wear them every week.What I didn't count on was getting the heel of my cute little shoe caught in my pants cuff, and ripping the hem out. In the office, this wasn't a problem. I mean, who cares if one leg of my pants was dragging on the floor? Great news! Entombed in a heap of junk mail today was my Netflix DVD of MacGyver. I was messing around on YouTube the other day and found this entire episode of how MacGyver met Pete Thornton and became MacGyver. I immediately relived my childhood recalling the many happy hours spent watching MacGyver, and then trying to emulate him by solving non-existent problems around the neighborhood with my Swiss Army knife and Casio digital watches.
I don’t think it’s hyperbole to claim that for a boy in the 80s this was absolutely the best show on TV. MacGyver was smart, funny, and solved his problems through logic, science, and insight. I looked forward to watching every Monday night.
