After Snoop Dogg & others cancelled their show I was sure Morrissey would follow suit, after-all, he does strike me as a GUSHING, bleeding heart. And for some odd reason, being a gushing bleeding heart generally means you despise everything Israeli. You know, because Jews (Politically Correct Rev.) Zionists don’t [...]
About a week ago, Ed Morrissey, who's said some very stupid, bizarre things that have angered me before, went and wrote a post on Hot Air in which he praised Grover Norquist for tax reform. Robert Spencer was quite right to counter him, as he did, when he provided the following info written by Frank Gaffney at Front Page Mag. And here's some more from Daniel Pipes and also Debbie Schlussel.

Heaven knows that Morrissey is still miserable, as he's chosen to name his new album Years of Refusal (following up the equally chipper Ringleader of the Tormentors). It makes us want to go home and cry and
Morrissey is out with the video to his new single 'All You Need Is Me', one of two new tracks from the former Smiths singer's compilation album 'Greatest Hits', out now on Polydor/Decca Records. Watch it below the fold.
I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention Morrissey’s Birthday today, he turns 49. It was one year ago tonight that I saw him play here in St. Louis for his 48th…time flies. Over the weekend my wife and I watched a dvd of a rebroadcast concert from Madrid in 1984 of The Smiths, and [...]

First off, in case you didn't see this in the shoutbox, LTC has kindly alerted us to this profile of George Clooney at Entertainment Weekly. Clooney attempts to explain why Jennifer Ehle's role was cut from Michael Clayton: Clooney's divorced ''fixer'' character originally had a girlfriend. ''We shot it with Jennifer Ehle — she gave a wonderful performance,'' says Clooney. ''And the more we did it, we realized you have to isolate this character more. And having a girlfriend, he's not in as much trouble.'' Clooney wrote Ehle a note to apologize: ''I didn't cut it, but I still feel bad about it.'' More entries about The Russell Girl can be found floating around the blogosphere:Jackie found herself dissolved in tears for most of the movie and was a victim of the she-must-be-Meryl-Streep's-d
Rick Morrissey of The Chicago Tribune wishes just one steroid user would admit his wrongdoing:For no other reason than to humor us, could one baseball player please admit he used steroids or human growth hormone for the sole purpose of becoming a better athlete? Just one guy? OK, somebody less clownish than Jose Canseco. In other words, it would be nice if a ballplayer, having been outed for buying HGH from an aromatherapist in Scranton or a manicurist in Biloxi, simply said: "You know what? I wanted to be bigger, faster and stronger. So sue me." Instead, we're learning that Major League Baseball is filled with all sorts of maladies that only steroids and HGH can help. And the fact that these drugs happen to be considered performance enhancers … well, you want to talk about a coincidence. This is a worthwhile sentiment; I'm just as sick of these implausible excuses and faux-confessions (not that I don't still find them amusing). Here's the problem, though: more than one baseba
Frequent Morrissey opener and all-around eccentric Kristeen Young has been booted off a tour with the former Smiths frontman. Hostilities arose after a fan shouted Morrisseys name during Youngs performance. She responded with, Morrissey gives good head, I mean, er, cunnilingus. Brilliant. Entienden que este señor va a estar tocando cuando yo esté en New York?No me importa que soy de un país pobre, pesificado, peronista, letrinoamericano y que gano una miseria indigna. Ahh, Morrissey. What is it about a celibate, terminally morose, nasally English vegetarian that makes us love you so??I've compiled a few of the best Smiths/Moz covers I've got in my collection. Released in advance of 2004's You Are The Quarry, this maxi-single was a chance for Moz fans to finally hear what he'd been up to since 1999's Maladjusted. And as far as lead-off singles go, it's a monster. How some of this didn't make it on the record is beyond me, but I think I grok Moz's logic, out of the spotlight for a while, let's give the people something substantial to chew on. My favorite: The Never Played Symphonies. On the Quarry Tour following, "Munich Air Disaster 1958" was played as a lead-in to "Everyday Is Like Sunday". 1. Irish Blood, English Heart 2. According to a published report, Morrissey recently turned down an offer to reunite his former band The Smiths for a 2008-2009 reunion tour. The deal is reported to have been worth 75 million and include 50 shows. It was also said that the only required members for this tour would have been Moz and Johnny Marr.
Looks like The Smiths will never be back together, for anything.
Morrissey also announced a slew of new tour dates, which include a Midwest stop in Merrillville, IN (closer to Chicago than Cincy) and loads of dates in LA and NY. It is also rumored that this group of dates are “the last shows Morrissey will do for the foreseeable future.” Get em while they are hot!
Big thanks to Filter for the tip…..
Here is some vintage Moz for you, from his first US Television appearance in 1991 on The Tonight Show.

Steven Patrick Morrissey, former singer of iconic 1980s band The Smiths, may have a few slightly obsessive fans out there. As such, Urban Cowgirl films found one named Jose and explored his obsession with the singer for Passions Just Like Mine -- a documentary almost ready for release.
You may have thought Chicago Tribune columnist Rick Morrissey was gone, but even so, he was never forgotten. Turns out he wasn't gone, either. In fact, Rick is making his triumphant return to the BTL stage right now, with an article which demonstrates a complete lack of understanding of segregation's effect on competitive balance in baseball: The Rev. Jesse Jackson had some interesting thoughts the other day about Barry Bonds' pursuit of baseball's all-time home-run record, but one statement stood out. Talking about the cloud of steroid allegations hanging over Bonds, Jackson said that if Major League Baseball is going to start putting asterisks in its record book, a lot of players should have asterisks by their names. And what was the good Reverend's rationale?"My question is if 400 guys tested positive, do you put asterisks by all their names?" Jackson told the Sun-Times. "Do you put asterisks by [spitballer] Gaylord Perry's name? Do you put asterisks by guys who had the ultimat
Rick Morrissey chimes in today on the should-we-or-shouldn't-we-blow-up-Wrigley-Field debate. And according to Rick, we've all been had:
Wrigley Field is still a dump.
Several years ago I used that very word, dump, to describe the ballpark. At that point, chunks of concrete were falling onto seats at Wrigley. The place was showing its advanced age, had a hygiene problem and lacked many of the amenities that could be found in more modern parks.
People reacted as if I had said their mother's mustache needed a trim. I understood. You don't imply that a beloved ballpark's landmark status should be changed to pockmark status and think you're going to get off easy.
But aside from measures taken to stop the concrete from falling on Cubs' fans heads, not much has changed from when I wrote that column in 2004.
Neither has my opinion: We've all been had, not that there's anything wrong with it. Ignorance is bliss, and so is a beer on a sunny summer day. I think of Wrigley Field as the
In have listened to the new album - We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank - of an indieband named Modest Mouse, and also posted about it here.
Now I found out more information about this band from The Independent: Morrissey may have hogged the headlines since the Smiths split in 1987 but this week Johnny Marr is celebrating a triumph that his former bandmate has never savoured. Working with his new band, the indie rockers Modest Mouse, the guitarist has gone straight to the top of the American album charts with We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank.
It is the first time Marr has had a No 1 record in the States and We Were Dead... has also topped the iTunes download chart and the Amazon chart. The album will be released in the UK next week.
If you go to the band´s MySpace-page you can listen so some of the tracks from the new album (found from a blogger in Svenska Dabladet).

Morrissey had expressed an interest in taking part in 2007 Eurovision Song Contest, but has since changed his mind. It was in 2006 when the BBC approached many singers to perform in the Eurovision and Morrissey was one of those who had been approached, he was in talks to write and also perform.
A spokesperson for the BBC had this to say “Unfortunately, we were unable to go ahead with him being involved and we can now confirm that he definitely will not be taking part in this year’s competition.”
Good job Morrissey is not going ahead in the competition as you do need a good sense of humour for the Eurovision, and boy is he lacking in that department.
