Seed funding and mentoring come free
I happened to reach Sita’s blog over at Binary Day, and fortunately (or unfortunately) to this article about Seed Funding over there. It’s such a pity that there aren’t enough VCs or firms that are ready to fund ideas, judging only by the ideas, the people and the motivation. Why the need of business plans ?? I really can’t write a BP, nor can I face the disappointment on my partner’s face (as well as mine) after getting rejected for not really having a good business plan. Did I get rejected because I had no business plan, or I could not write one efficiently ?? The latter is a more appropriate reason. I had written about it in my earlier post as well that Web-2.0 has not reached India as yet. You can read that post here (about the talent crunch that startu

Mentoring Pays Off BigBy: Frank TerranovaHave you spent countless hours reading books about internet marketing and still find that you dont know where to get started? If this is you, what do you think you should do?Maybe you have thought about coaching for your internet business, but havent made a decision on whether or not to pursue it. The Evolution Of Co-mentoring Relationships: A Quest For Dialogue
My mentoring experience had marked one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences that I had ever undergone. I was hoping to extend a dialogue over a group of people who I had never before encountered, but I had not, under any circumstances, known the kind of mental dialogue that this would foster within me and the kind of relationships that I would inadvertently, and then very intentionally, develop. By overcoming the frustration of an absence of knowledge through the proactive investment of time and energy, I had gone from a stranger in the classroom to a valuable asset, which a mentor should certainly be. The evolution of the relationships that have marked this experience had, thus, presented for me, the true meaning of mentorship, and, subsequently, co-mentorship. In co-mentoring, the “‘co' makes the mentoring reciprocal and mutual. This reciprocity means that over time the mentee and mentor roles may shift; no one is stuck in one or the other for the duration

Mentoring and Coaching - What Is The Difference by Manoj Sharma
MENTORING & COACHING - WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE by MANOJ SHARMA "A mentor is like a sounding board, they can give advice but the protégé is free to pick and choose what they do. The context does not have specific performance objectives.A coach is trying to direct a person to some end result, the person may choose how to get there, but the coach is strategically assessing and monitoring the progress and giving advice for effectiveness and efficiency." Mentoring is biased in your favor. Coaching is impartial, focused on improvement in behavior." -- Unknown (If anybody knows who this quote is from please do let me know so I can credit it.)Above is another perspective on the difference between a mentor and a coach. There is tremendous value in it and I personally would word it slightly differently. Nevertheless it is another alternative perspective to mine.I would summarize it as follows.MentorWealth of experienceWith whom you build an unstructured relationshipWhose advice you seek (one wa

      MENTORING
by M. Angioni IISome people can dive into a project headfirst without first having received any guidance and without having a plan. The most amazing aspect of this approach is that sometimes these people successfully complete a project. This approach may work for school papers or group projects, but do not initiate this kind of mentality on an entrepreneurial investment. Even if you are one of those people who have succeeded in the past using this "attack first, ask questions later" approach, I implore you to reconsider doing the same for your first, and in fact, any investment. The simple solution, find a mentor. Talk to people that have already "walked the path that you are traveling" You might be wondering how and were to talk to these people. I have an answer for you.First, figure out exactly what kind of investment you would like to attempt. Accomplishing this will help you focus your efforts and questions to people who possess the expertise that will be most helpfu
