On display at the State Library of Victoria in Melbourne is The Medieval Imagination - Illuminated manuscripts from Cambridge, Australia and New Zealand.There are over 90 manuscripts are on display, dating from the 8th to the 16th centuries.It's an amazing collection of work, and to top it off, it is free. I have found myself wandering into the library whenever I am in the city to have another look. It's worth a visit to the State Library just to see the Domed Reading Room. At first they were primarily of religious scenes and later to depict historical events. Como cada año con motivo de la conmemoración de la partida desde las playas de Salou del Rei Jaume I hacia la conquista de Mallorca, Salou celebra la Festa Medieval Rei Jaume con numerosas actividades y espectáculos, llegando este año a la XII edición.
El mercado medieval que se celebrará del miércoles día 5 al viernes día 7 es una de las actividades más populares, donde encontraremos todo tipo de tiendas ambientadas en la época medieval y representaciones durante todo el día como música medieval, duelos, romances, cuentos.
El horario del mercado medieval es de 10:30 a 14:00 y de 17:00 a 23:00 horas y está situado en el casco antiguo de Salou entre las calles, Ponent, Església, Rafael de Casanovas, Joan Miró y Pins.

Here’s a story which Mitt Romney might really find of value for his anti-France campaign. He’s already attacked France with untrue claims about marriage practices there which probably came either from a 1993 comedy or a science fiction story about Mormon practices in space. Now we have a report which argues that there was legalized same-sex marriage in medieval France:
“Western family structures have been much more varied than many people today seem to realize,” Tulchin writes in the September issue of the Journal of Modern History. “And Western legal systems have in the past made provisions for a variety of household structures.”
For example, he found legal contracts from late medieval France that referred to the term “affrèrement,” roughly translated as brotherment. Similar contracts existed elsewhere in Mediterranean Europe, Tulchin said.

We took a step back in time Sunday night after entering the old city of Castro Marim. The small and maze like streets leading to the old Castle spotted with juggling jesters along the walkways, immediately transported us to a different time and place.
As we made our way toward the castle entrance, barbarians, musicians and maidens lined the streets to entertain, while merchants stood by selling their wares from dried fruits and candies to medicinal herbs for anything that may ale you.

Medieval Festival time again for Hennebont, a fantastic market filled with all sorts of interesting crafts and displays. The streets are also filled with strange and wonderful things. These "Demons" were walking around on stilts that looked like proper jointed devils legs...Something wicked this way comes...they marched right up to the church like an invasion of devils, or gargoyles flown down from the tower.. wading through the crowds and then they just waited by the stone buttresses of the church, wicked devils but such brilliant costumes, I have a desire to learn stilt walking before I am too old. There were beauties too, like this unicorn boy who was part of a troop of woodland/sea people playing strange music and mesmerising the crowds, I think they were a tadge dark too, everything magik has an edge of darkness to it.
On your next visit to New York City, take a break from the modern buildings, noise and nonstop traffic by exploring The Cloisters, a little island of Medieval Europe in that you can reach by subway.

Estuvimos en la inaguración de la Feria Medieval de Íscar, Maestro y Aprendiz, en la que se proclamó como Alcaide de la fortaleza 2007 a Juncal Rivero. La feria continúa esta noche con la actuación del grupo vallisoletano Chloe y finalizará mañana domingo a las 22:00 h.
