      Women's Ministry Christmas Luncheon
I had a wonderful day yesterday. Busy but fun. I'd be blogging more about it later. My kid's school is having a Fair today and we'd be there the whole day. Since my kids will be in the "rides" most of the time, I think I'd bring my laptop so I can type there. We'll see if this plan works. In the meantime, i wanted to post these Women's Luncheon photos right away. It was a great event - our speakers, Toni and Kathy, are so inspiring. They talked about "Faith". I will add caption to these photos later. In the meantime I need to do some chores before my family wakes up!

      Leader's Luncheon
Today I attended a lunch for the 15 or so staff pastors at the church I work at. The lunch was held at the Lubbock Club; It's a nice place to eat, at one of the highest places in Lubbock. The lunch was special because we had a guest speaker there, Charles Neiman, to say a few words to us as church leaders. These kind of meetings are new to me, and I really enjoyed my time. Here are some quotes that I remember from the talk:"We shouldn't put the heaviest burden of our ministry on our weakest leaders.""Stop expecting an infantry of Navy Seals to run your ministry. His church in El Paso, personally only has 1 membership class then gets these new members involved in some area of ministry ASAP. Granted, they won't be counseling or teaching a class; but they learn and grow by finding a place t

John Edwards Speaks at the Women Employed Luncheon
On May 9, 2007 John Edwards spoke to the Women Employed group in Chicago, Illinois about low-income families especially those lead by single mothers. John Edwards talked about how if you are a woman you are more likely to live in poverty and you are more likely to not have health insurance. His many solutions to the issue of poverty included; raising the minimum wage, expanding the earned income tax credit (EITC) to include single workers, making it easier for people to form unions, teaching financial literacy to low-income individuals, setting up bank accounts, and also setting up an incentive for them to save by matching what they put in their bank accounts. Edward's plan also included some more interesting tactics such as creating a million stepping stone jobs so low-income people could get on their feet and learn to work. He suggested the creation of a million new housing vouchers, not to concentrate poor people together but by giving people a chance to choose w
