      Lunar eclipse!
About a month ago we were watching a bit of the lunar eclipse. It was pretty cool. A really clear night and we could see it from our living room window. It was nice to stay inside and see it since it was about 10 degrees outside. Mum took a quick pic from our little digital camera - here's what we saw...We see that Astromart.com, a site for amateur and advanced star-gazers and one of the leading portals for astronomy news, classified ads and telescope reviews, has some awesome telescopes for sale. It sure would have been cool if we could have seen it from a telescope - see it more close up!

Lunar eclipse from a backyard in Washington
February 20, 2008 marked a special day for Washington residents. It was a cool and clear night with the stars and other celestial objects visible to looked at with wonder and amazement. After getting off work I made it the evening plan to pull out the telescope and binocular to gaze at a wild wonder [...]

      Lunar Eclipse Photos
One great thing about living on a small island with little ambient light is that when something like an eclipse occurs you can really see it! I took these photos with my new Blackberry Curve 8320 and emailed them to my computer.First, the moon was full and bright enough to form shadows and require no flashlight for my walk home from the spa. This was taken at 9:02pm.By 9:30pm we could already see the eclipse beginning. At 10pm only a bit of the moon is still lit (but isn't it cool how it is so clear that you can still see the outline of the entire orb?).By 10:02pm, just before I went to bed, only the tiniest sliver of the light remains. Too cool!Tags: Photographs, Turks and Caicos, Parrot Cay, Caribbean, lunar eclipse 2008, lynda lippin

      Lunar eclipse!
The other night, Wednesday, Mum and I took in a bit of the lunar eclipse. It was pretty cool. A really clear night and we could see it from our living room window. Nice since it was about 10 degrees outside. Mum took a quick pic from our little digital camera - here's what we saw ...After a little while it turned red kind of like this...this isn't Mum's pic, but you get the idea...Pretty cool! Next total Lunar Eclipse? December 21, 2010, be sure and mark your calendars! Anyone else out howling at the Moon on Wednesday/Thursday?

      Lunar Eclipse
In case you missed it, here are some highlights of the total lunar eclipse tonight. As the umbral shadow progressed and the night got darker, colder, it was more difficult to get good shots because a) I was shaking and b) the camera was so cold, the zoom froze up. At the full eclipse point, I managed to capture the colors changing from red to violet to blue and finally to a neutral. These photos are completely unadulterated. Next full eclipse is in 2010.

      Lunar Eclipse
Most everyone probably knows about the lunar eclipse last night. Tony let me borrow his camera to take a picture last night. His lens isn't exactly top choice for taking pictures of things that far away (if you want better star type stuff, go to Blackholes and Astrostuff). But I tried my luck and was pleasantly surprised. The picture is really small, but it doesn't look too bad for a little bitty lens not intended for taking pictures of the moon.

Final Total Lunar Eclipse Until 2010
As everyone knows by now, there was a total lunar eclipse on February 20, 2008. There won’t be another one until 2010. So, of course, this was something that we had to see for ourselves. According to the news, the eclipse was supposed to start sometime around 10:00pm AST here in Puerto Rico. And the universe [...]

News from the Fish Bowl: Lunar Eclipse Tonight
Photo by Dazzie DLUNAR ECLIPSE TONIGHTAs reported by Joe Rao with MSNBC, a total lunar eclipse tonight should be visible in North America and in several other places.Lunar eclipses are important events. Aristotle used the shape of the Earth's shadow on the moon to argue that the Earth is round.According to Max Frisch in his novel Homo Faber, the lunar eclipse is also a sign that you're going to be severely punished by the powers that be for sleeping with your own daughter, you weirdo.According to the above cited article, the eclipse begins at 7:01 PM Mountain Time. Adjust accordingly. Those of you on the west coast may miss part of the show. Hawaiians will miss it entirely.

Lunar Eclipse: open source Silverlight design tool for Linux
Previously in ITWire we put forth the view that one reason people stick to Windows is because they have to run specific applications that only exist for that platform. We’d like to introduce you to two tremendous web sites which help find open source equivalents for proprietary Windows software. One obvious example is Microsoft Word. This single piece of software could well be the #1 Windows app

      Lunar Eclipse
Yesterday night's Lunar Eclipse taken by a friend of mine Leneah in Davao City. The image shows as it tries to cover initially the brightness of the moon from the Earth's shadow. Unlike here in Makati and Metro Manila area, the clouds covered the entire skies which killed the hopes of individuals who waited for the Lunar Eclipse.

28 August 2007 Lunar Eclipse Photos And Video
The amazing sight from behind the Harbour Bridge Australia IT shone a beautiful deep red in the sky last night as the sun, moon and earth aligned for a total lunar eclipse. While lunar eclipses occur at least twice a year somewhere in the world, the last time a total eclipse was visible from Australia’s eastern states was in July 2000. If you missed out the next blood moon will be visible about 11.45pm on December 10, 2011. (more…)

Keep your eyes to the sky for a lunar eclipse extraordinaire
Now, I’m not as certified space mad as our resident space cadet (you know who you are), but I do find space entirely fascinating, mysterious and enthralling. It’s the whole ‘unexplored expanse’ thing that gets me. I still remember my dad (ever the adventurer) standing on the lawn with us in 1986 - I’d heaved my gumboots on to gaze skyward, neck aching, hoping to catch a glimpse of Haley’s Comet. To this day, I’m not sure I did actually see the comet (it might have been a smudgy star and it was a cloudy night), but it’s a great memory for what it’s worth. For those of you who share a curiosity about the universe, you’ll be rapt to hear that… A lunar eclipse will be visible from New Zealand on August 28th! A lunar eclipse is when the Earth passes between the sun and the moon. When this happens, the sun’s light can’t reach the moon’s surface and the moon enters the Earth’s shadow. Cool, eh? Keep you
