When I first got internet back in the Spring of 1998 the first websites I went to were of course, recipes. One of my favorites (and one I still visit to this day) actually has a number of message boards on the site. Knowing that the women and men that congregate there have similar interests they don't only have a board for discussing recipes and cooking, but another for gardening and flowers and

The first time I have heard Natasha Bedingfield sing was on a Pantene commercial were Ruffa Gutierrez was saying she was beautiful and glamorous (which she really is) and the song was "Unwritten" by Natasha and the song was perfect for the commercial. It showed beauty and it really sets the mood. But recently I have discovered another Natasha Bedingfield song that I have fallen in love with. Listen to this song and guess what song this is (oh you can click in the pause button at the upper left corner of my blog to hush little David Archuleta for a while hehehe):If you haven't guessed what that song is then here's the lyrics:I got a pocket, got a pocketful of sunshine.I got a love, and I know that it's all mine.Oh.Do what you want, but you're never gonna break me.Sticks and stones are never
A tribute to mothers:
By Pansy Hamilton Brown, For The Guardian -
Nassau, Bahamas:
Mothers should dare to be different and be the queen of their households. Be the mothers who in the face of difficulties and adversities embrace the joy of motherhood and fearlessly accept the challenges of nurturing your children and serving your husbands with dignity.
Endeavor to give birth to new parenting skills and be a model for displaying a loving heart, irrespective of the situations as you teach the world how to love.
Caring mothers are invaluable, and their sterling qualities exceed the language of the most excellent orator. They are the nucleus of their families, harmonized with the devotion of fathers. The sunshine and cheerfulness that most mothers bring to their families produce children
The tall, dark action hero Vishal has kept himself in the news with his flings. He has been providing fodder to entertainment pages, as Chennai is witnessing the biggest ever paper war over circulation in the last few weeks. Vishal one of the smartest cookies in town wanted to cash in on it, by suddenly celebrating the 125 days function of his Malaikottai. After the morning function, Vishal held a private bash at Pasha in The Park hotel. And the surprise guest at the party was none other than his Chellamay and Thimiru lucky mascot Reema Sen who was also in the city for an award function. Vishal and Reema bonded big time during the making of Thimiru but later reported to have fallen out, post release of the film after the media reports about their “affair”. In fact Reema the prim and pr
Mildred and Richard Loving, January 26, 1965.On this day when people in Indiana and North Carolina are choosing between the Democratic candidates for president, one of whom is the offspring of an interracial union, it's mind-boggling to think that just over 40 years ago, marriages like that which produced Sen. Barack Obama were illegal in many states, including North Carolina where voters are going to the polls. But all that was changed in 1967 because of two quiet and courageous people who fought for their love by fighting an unjust law, Richard and Mildred Loving of Virginia. Their desire to have their marriage recognized in the eyes of the law in native state led them all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court which struck down all anti-miscegenation laws in the nation.Mildred Jeter Loving,
Photograph from WikipediaThis year marks the 41th anniversary of Loving v. Virginia which made it possible for all (straight) Americans to marry outside of their race. To commemorate the occasion, every year on June 12th is Loving Day, cities all over the country celebrate the Loving family and the sacrifices they made so that all (straight) Americans can love and marry openly. Below is an excerpt of a statement Mildred gave to mark the 40th anniversary of the case. "The older generation’s fears and prejudices have given way, and today’s young people realize that if someone loves someone they have a right to marry. Surrounded as I am now by wonderful children and grandchildren, not a day goes by that I don’t think of Richard and our love, our right to marry, and how much it meant

It's time to turn our attention to pop diva Madonna again. She is not strikingly beautiful, has a mediocre voice at best, is a horrible actress, and yet is probably the most famous female pop star ever.
Horse comforters are nothing new for cowboys or cowgirls, but you have to admit that bedding and comforter sets with horse prints have always had a predominantly masculine color scheme. Colors in horse bedding for girls could hardly be distinguished from comforter sets for boys' bedrooms. When it came to decorating a horse bedroom for teenage girls, the best that we could do would be to brighten the room with some light, neutral colored window treatments and floor coverings to prevent the browns and blacks associated with the leather of the horse tack and horseshoe motifs from making the room dark as the inside of a barn and a whole lot less cheerful. Thankfully, some fabric designer realized that the color of saddle leather and black iron looked fabulous when combined with lavender and

I don't know about you, but I've never in my life felt more more fearful, more anxious, less brave, than I have as a mother. From the moment that the lines on that stick turned pink the first time around, I've been afraid. My pregnancy with Wonderbaby, Wonderbaby's birth, Wonderbaby's life thus far, the second set of lines on the second stick... I have lived and continue to live through these with the sharpest sense of fear, of awareness that there is so much to lose now, of myself, of all that I love, of all that I live for. I carry my heart around outside my body now - soon I will carry its beating, bloody weight times two - and because of that I am vulnerable in ways that I never thought possible. Because of that, I am afraid.I do not mind this fear. Not so much, anyway. Because the trad

In February JCPenney launched its new American Living label, a collection of Americana-infused women's, men's, and children's apparel and housewares masterminded by Ralph Lauren and his Global Concepts division.
I love the music they use in the The American Living commercials directed by Bruce Weber, who has worked on other campaigns for Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein and Abercrombie & Fitch. (FYI, the music is by Robert Plant & Alison Krauss, case you're curious.)
But aside from that, I am not loving much else about this collection. The styles look outdated rather than classic, and everything is too expensive (which must explain the recent price cuts I've been noticing).
In fact, According to The New York Times, the American Living collection costs about 15 percent more than the h

Happy birthday, Mr. Shakespeare! For a complete Bardolatry experience, visit the archive.___________________________________"Shakespeare is hard," asserts Fintan O'Toole in his book of the same title, "but so is life, and so long as you can see that there's a lot of life in Shakespeare, then the effort begins to make sense."Now, I adore O'Toole's provocative, irreverent take on the bard, but I also have some fairly strong convictions about the "Shakespeare is, well, pretty easy, actually" camp.At summer sessions for teachers, Peggy O'Brien, Ph.D., formerly of the Teaching Shakespeare Institute (Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington, D.C.), would distribute a "Shakespeare Laundry List" to her students. ask myself many times, "Why did I make such a journey?" What was I hoping for? Was it for adventure? Was I trying to prove something to myself, to others? What was my final objective to this horrid, unpleasant, tormenting, and yes, at times, delightful, gratifying and fascinating journey? Through my book, A Place to Belong, I'm going to relate to you, the reader, a few of "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly." There really is such a conglomeration existing and I'll have to admit, there are more good then the bad and the ugly. I met many people that are out to claim whatever they can from you. Your valuables, be it money, clothes or jewelry. How about a temporary friendship? Yes, that too. It's referred to as "using you." How about renting you out on an hourly basis? Oh, yes! Another thing that I have been thinking about lately on the matter of Love (true, passionate, romantic Love) ...We want to be loved: 1) by someone we respect (having characteristics we admire); and 2) for traits which we value AND which we feel we possess. We need to be "seen" accurately (in our opinion) by someone whose perspective matters to us and we want that person to "value" in us things that *we* find valuable in ourselves. If someone tells us they love us because we have characteristics that we don't feel we truly do have - we can't accept it. We feel that either they are lying to us about loving us (trying to get something from us), or they are deluded (and will eventually leave us once they discover "the truth" about us).
"Everytime they turn the lights down, just wanna go that extra mile for you. You've got me display of affection..."

The LayMAN linked to this article about Rev. Jim Yearsley. He is the guy that filed a complaint against Rev. Janet Edwards. I found this interesting quote: Yearsley acknowledges that the Presbyterian Church has changed and evolved over hundreds of years. The organization now ordains women, for example. But he insists that the ruling enforcing marriage between only one man and one woman must always remain intact. "There's a difference between ordaining women and the idea of God's plan for all of humanity," he said. "It's become a cultural issue. But for us, this about the authoritative word of God, which you can't change to make your desire appropriate." As I recall the arguments against the ordination of women were also about "the authoritative word of God." I am not sure I can even f

From Thou Givest They Gather by Amy Carmichael: Often we wonder how the Lord can possibly go on loving us. Often we are tempted to think that though He may love others, we are different. Do you know what it is to feel so? We are not the first to feel like that. In George Herbert's poem Assurance he writes about it; and in another poem, Gratefulness, he says,"But Thou didst reckon, when at firstThy word our hearts and minds did crave,What it would come to at the worstTo save.Perpetual knockings at Thy door,Tears sullying Thy transparent rooms." Those words were written about 300 years ago. There is unshakeable comfort to be found in remembering that our Lord Jesus knew us and all we would be and do before He called us. Oh, rest your hearts, you who a

"You must first of all understand that although I seem to be talking about an historical event, everything of which I speak is within you and is happening at this moment. There is no other; and what happened, in our world, two thousand years ago is part of the unfoldment of this moment, not that moment but this very instant. It is neither a question of looking back two thousand years nor of trying to recapture the moment in your imagination. All you have to do is to be awake. ...Your body is the Virgin Mary. The Spirit is Christ, the Word that was conveyed through Gabriel the eternal messenger. The breath is the Breath of the Mercy of God, and it is that breath that quickens the soul. Until the soul is quickened by the Spirit it is like an unfledged bird. There are many paths to God, but th

It's Tormented Tuesday! At least that's what my baby thinks of me. Yes tormented. While he is sitting along side of me playing poker online and getting agitated. Nate snapped a photo of me in the shower tonight (naughty boy) and there is no chance in hell of anyone seeing it on this blog. *giggl

Now, it must be my weird taste but......... I'm really feeling Jade's hair color and fierce cut!!!!!! I know the 2-toned hair so last year but something about this is just real fly to me. I'm looking straight past her "poofy prom dress". It's crazy b/c Rihanna could have on the EXACT same outfit (looks like something she would wear) and hairstyle and folks would be STAN'ing for days!!!!!! Plus, Rihanna's fake titties would hold it up much better than Jade's saggy babies. Anywho........ how much yall wanna bet Cheri Dennis will be the first one to copy and merk this hairstyle?!?!?!?!? Is it just me or does she kind of favor Nicole Ari Parker aka Boris' wife in these photos?!? Maybe? MAYBE?!?!
I love watches. I mean I really love watches. I have a ton of them and love them all for very different reasons. I probably have more watched that anyone you have ever met. Out of all my watches though I think I like my Seiko watch the best. It is one of the first real nice watches that I got and it still works great for me after all these years. It is a really nice one and it is so dependable. I have had other watches that looked great but eventually lost their ability to keep time and thats what a watch is for. Not this one though, trustworthy after all these years and still looking good.

Love. Love is a word of resemblance of something much more universal than the stereotype loving that had been whispered to our ears for so long. Whenever you heard the word love, the picture of a man holding another woman's hands crossed your mind, isn't it? Suddenly you realised, how you were stupid back then, easily fallen in love with anyone, who very much suits your taste. I could never forget that time even tough I'm already grown up now, when I was small, I used to love hanging around with that little girl in my neighbourhood. She sees the world as I see the world. Why Jesus had to die:
By SHAVAUGHN MOSS, Special Sections Editor -
Nassau, Bahamas:
Jesus was not killed, but rather decided to die in order to keep the integrity of his word to himself, and destroy the stain and power of sin in every man's life, according to Bahamas Faith Ministries senior pastor Dr Myles Munroe.
And that he said is the joy of the Easter message and cause for all men everywhere in every nation and race to have hope.
"Good Friday was the greatest act of a loving heavenly father expressing his love for his image in each man and paying the ultimate price to redeem us from our own folly."
Munroe says the death of Jesus was not, and must not be considered an act of suicide, because the notion of suicide is always motivated by an individual's response to personal dist
I do give this guy a pass but come on. If this guy didn't have well connected parents he would of been just another blind guy with a stick or dog and collect lifetime disablity checks. How sad is it when a black blind guy is getting more action than most of us. He is the honest blind Bill Clinton though he picks out better looking woman. What is this guys pick up line? It must be " Wanna hold the leash". Gay and blind guys are the only men who could touch a woman all over and get away with it. The bad news is that by avoiding the foods you don't like, you may be depriving your body of valuable nutrients, and making weight loss harder by limiting your options. The good news? You can teach your taste buds to enjoy the foods at which you once turned up your nose.1. Grant them a second chance. Maybe you didn't know your palate, like most other things, matures as you get older. In other words, if you were five years old when you declared your hatred for beets, it may be time to put them through another taste test. You might be surprised at what you've been missing all of these years.2. Remember: One bad apple does not spoil the bunch. If the word "vegetable" conjures visions of much-maligned cabbage or lima beans, it's time to broaden your produce horizons. With hundreds of veggies o
This post is dedicated to my loving husband. I know that like all marriages we are not always assured that we will stay the same in about 20 – 40 years together but my wish and prayer will always be for us to love and respect each other no matter what. We have known each other for four years already but been married only for about two years and five months so it’s still too early to predict what will become of our future together. It’s really alarming when I heard of failed marriages that’s been built for more that 10 years and I’ve publish these thoughts about you now to always remember your goodness and to be reminded always of the things that you have done to our young family. Now that I’ve been pregnant my husband has perform almost all of the household chores from cooking

The Harbor is an amazing church in Ventura, California. It was started several years ago by my friend Milt Davis and recently, Sam Gallucci became their pastor. It's not a big church--but they are having a big impact on people that many churches don't want to embrace.Currently, they're ministering to several women who have young children and are living on the streets. They are intentional in their efforts to go after "Samaritan woman at the well" types. Many of these women have experienced multiple divorces, have young kids, emotional struggles. There are now seven women like that who are coming and they "have stories that blow me away," Sam says. Yet, at The Harbor, they are beginning to experience God's grace.Sam's vision is to keep loving on them, providing food and medical supplies to
There are a number of blogs out there written by women who are married to addicts, mothers of junkies or otherwise connected (and deeply scarred by) someone else’s addiction. Among my favorites are The Junky’s Wife, Married to an Addict, Married to My Ex, and Mother to an Addict. Whether or not the writer is [...]
Clayton sharing a Chinese book with his cousinI can't help but feel comforted that I have a boy who loves his books - English or Chinese. In fact, he is indulging in his Chinese library collection and it makes momma very happy. Though he still can't get his tone right on many characters, it's nice to hear him read out loud. I'm not a traditionalist but I do believe that Mandarin is a wonderful language to learn at this age and time. Hopefully, he'll start to speak more than 'Ke Yi' (Can) , 'Bu Yao' (Don't want) and 'Hao' (Good)!
There’s been a lot of talk lately about women of all ages, opting for cosmetic or surgical enhancement. I used to live in an area where a woman’s body was overly important. That would be the Redneck Riviera, for those of you who are wondering. Quite often, women would come to Gulf Shores, to visit one of the [...]
Well! It seems all we sour lovers have something in common: our genes! An article published this summer by ScienceDaily says we may be genetically predisposed to appreciating sour things. The article gets very sciency (and I admit I'm not sciency) but it's interesting nonetheless.
ScienceDaily (2007-07-13) -- Scientists report that genes play a large role in determining individual differences
After a week of being sick John finally gave in and went to the doctor. To bad the doctor said there was nothing he could do for him, he would just have to ride it out. He finally stopped running a temp last night, I have never seen him so sick I mean he does not remember hardly anything from this past week. I was talking about how we got so much rain on Sunday and how the temperature was
I have always loved this piece called "Loving Two" by an unknown author. I was moved when I first read it many years ago long before I became a parent and it touches me even more today now that I have three children. I understand it so much more now. It is such a profound and emotional experience to be blessed with one child and all the more so when you fortunate enough to have more. What you never expect and what shocks you is how you start to feel a little guilty about having to spend more time and love on the new addition to the family because it means taking time and attention away from the previous child. In time you realize that your capacity to love is far greater than you ever realized before. You don't love your partner and other children less, just differently. I am writing a pie
For any of you that may not have heard just yet, Apple sent down the update for the AppleTV yesterday. This "Take 2" update has so far proven to be very cool, at least in my mind.
First off, the movie at startup. Yes, I know, I’m a complete fanboy. Apple could [...]
In this modern age we are very busy in our life and although we want to take care of your loving ones we are not able to do so. Specially when you are engaged in jobs wherein you have to travel to lots of places. Luckily there are some institutions that can take care for your loved ones. Such institution have highly qualified employers and nurses that takes good care for your older loved ones. You don't have to worry about anything. I think that this is a good optional choice if you have no other solution. In fact they are in good hands and they will have friends of their age their and get chances to roam around because such institution takes them to different places. If your loved ones have some kind of sickness then you can tell such institution at the time of admission so that they will
Which designer was so against of the photogs getting any kind of shots of the clothes backstage he/she even purposely dimmed the lights of the finale walk causing the photogs to have trouble getting shots?
Lyrics:
Moon so bright, night so fine.
Keep your heart here with mine.
Life's a dream we are dreaming.
Race the moon, catch the wind.
Ride the night to the end.
Seize the day, stand up for the light.
I want to spend my lifetime loving you.
If that is all in life I ever do.
Heroes rise, heroes fall.
Rise again, win it all.
In your heart, can't you feel the glory?
Through our joy, through our
This is an excerpt from a speech by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. called Loving Your Enemies, presented on November 17, 1957.
...So I want to turn your attention to this subject: "Loving Your Enemies." It’s so basic to me because it is a part of my basic philosophical and theological orientation—the whole idea of love, the whole philosophy of love. In the fifth chapter of the gospel as recorded by Saint Matthew, we read these very arresting words flowing from the lips of our Lord and Master: "Ye have heard that it has been said, ‘Thou shall love thy neighbor, and hate thine enemy.’ But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them that despitefully use you; that ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven.

This is my fourth trip and it just seems to get better every year. Great movies (well, maybe not this year...yet), crazy party scene (even though Utah's drinking laws are ridiculous, still managed to sneak my way into a private U2 performance for 300 guests, including some big time Hollywood people like Harvey Weinstein and Colin Farrell and some good food (the restaurants here suck, but my boy Cleaver cooked his incredible annual steak dinner)I'll have all the details shortly,
I bought this cute 3/4 length sleeve jacket after Christmas and pondered about how I was going to keep my arms warm because the only gloves that I own cut off at the wrist. I came across a really great pair of cashmere blend long gloves from J.Crew and decided that these would be perfect with my new jacket! I don't know why I had never thought to look at long gloves, but they look so chic when paired with a 3/4 length jacket! Here are some great picks, all under $25:</center>

I was recently introduced to the humor of Jim Gaffigan, a hilarious stand-up comedian who has made several appearances on the Late Show with David Letterman. Much of Gaffigan's humor involves food, including routines about eating out, cake, and bacon. His signature piece revolves around his fascination with the microwaveable sandwiches in a sleeve, Hot Pockets.
Minnie loves laying on her back…This might sound like a portion of a adult nouvelle, but no, sorry, no adult here … LOL…This is simply Minnie and her way of sleeping, just wanted to...
