At last fall’s L.A. auto show, Lotus gave us some insight into its future, hinting at a new sporty member to its lineup from something called “Project Eagle.” The new car would slot in above the Elise, Exige and Europa lines but below the upcoming 2011 Esprit. Now we have our first look at an Eagle mule, caught testing at the good old Nürburgring, and the first from Lotus’ Versatile Vehicle Architecture (VVA) first used on its 2005 APX crossover concept.

As we reported earlier, Lotus has a new range of Europas for 2008, at least in their eponymous market. Still not coming to the States as far as we've heard, but with the "Eagle" already soaring, we think we can wait. Not that the Europa is a bad car, but the new model should be even better. Until the Eagle lands, however, the European market still has the perfectly adequate Europa and a new Europa SE. The Europa SE is here in Geneva and it has some spiffy new wheels, 17-inch in front, 18-inch out back. It's painted in a sort of monochrome fashion that makes us think of the '80s for some reason too. There's also a real (for Lotus at least) interior that is swathed in leather. The idea was to make it a bit more comfortable for the few people who are thinking of purchasing one. The car's 2.0L

It has been a rough week for me, guys. I’ve been sick since early Thursday morning, and I am STILL not well. It was food poisening, of my own stupid design. I was working with raw chicken on Wednesday night, and I think I probably got some contamination sickness. I’m usually very careful, so this just sucked big time. In the past 3 days, I have consumed 1.5 bananas, half a piece of peanut butter bread, a bit of milk, a few bites of salad, a few wedge fries, and lots of gatorade. If I’m not a svelt 135 lbs by Christmas, I’m complaining to SOMEONE. Heh.

Lotus in collaboration with everybody’s favorite toy-car manufacturer has teamed up to create a 1:5 scale model of a new roadster, unveiled recently at the SEMA Auto Show in Las Vegas. The concept whip signifies the 40th anniversary of Hot Wheels but also functions as a means for Lotus to preview its future design direction.
